  1. I have come to a point where i become so happy for seeing a photo crumb. Nobu thank you
  2. Just want to add to the Beijing conversation as someone who became a fan after the recent Olympics. I wanted to see what's going on in the Olympics and somehow clicked on the gala exhibition. Went through all the performances but was left mesmerized by Hanyu's performance. So I searched for more and realized he's the same person who skated to two performances I've watched before - Parisienne Walkways and Seimei. After digging deeper, I learned that he attempted a seemingly impossible jump at the Olympics and was captivated. What sealed the deal for me though was his practice video for Seimei (plus other post-comp practice videos) at the Beijing Olympics. After that, I fell down the rabbit hole that is Yuzuru Hanyu's skating. I literally learned all the types of jumps and other terminology within one week. Found out a few days after, that many people I know around me also discovered Yuzuru after Beijing. One of my friends showed me a "cool" video of Yuzuru saving his 3A jump during Let Me Entertain You. I was watching Sochi short programs and my parents, who weren't paying much attention and doing other things, suddenly stopped, watched Hanyu's skating, and said things like, "He flows so smoothly," "he makes it look easy," "he has style" and they said it was amazing how he was able to capture their attention and get them to watch his whole performance (they are not interested in figure skating at all). One of my other friends told me the other day that he is a fan of Yuzuru, and I pretended that I only casually like his skating and had to stop myself from saying I'm probably more obsessed with his skating.
  3. Have they confirmed no livestreaming for Faoi? Is there a chance, a slim chance, a tiny tiny microscopic chance that we can get livestream? (there's only two weeks left and I'm too excited)
  4. if anyone knows if there's an info link about 4cc 2017 with a planned content vs what he actually did... it would be very much appreciated
  5. I'm gonna need Ballade to protect itself because Rondo is coming for no.1 as my favorite Yuzu SP. Gosh, I don't know how it gets better and better every time I watch it. And to think that I don't think we have seen the full potential of Rondo and it can get more and more polished like Ballade.
  6. serotonin boost. if he's not retiring, i hope we can see him like this again i love the face he makes when he skate so well that he amazes even himself
  7. this scares and amazes me tbh. cause i can watch his old programs like GPF 2015 Seimei and think, "Wow there is no way it can get any better than this. I don't know how much more you can improve on that." But watching his recent skates and seeing the difference in quality is actually quite impressive. Now I wanna try this but don't really know any store where I can buy one. Should I try online?
  8. Off season question, but is anyone else addicted to Yuzu's Beijing practices when he skated to his old programs? For some reason, I keep rewatching those videos every day. I think it may just be me trying to cope with everything that happened Beijing Olympics. But also, I think those skates + Haru Yo Koi gala performance is something that we haven't seen in him in a while. Those practice videos remind me of Romeo and Juliet 1.0 back in Worlds 2012 in that he was overflowing with passion. He was also smiling and looked serenely happy while skating.
  9. oh i think they know, but they have to focus on the efforts did by the place. Didn't the commentators during Skate Canada (I think it was Rob and Tracy) kept mentioning how most people are there for one guy. The audience's cameras, media crew, professional photographers are basically following him all the time. It has that iconic Tracy comment, "but at least they got an audience" or something like that. TBF, a lot of fans are very supportive of other skaters too. Here's the link for anyone interested cause I really love Tracy commentating on Yuzu. SP: FS:
  10. Hi everyone! Since it's Faoi month and this is my first Faoi, I have a few questions I heard that Faoi are considering online/live streaming for Faoi this year. So, I guess we can just wait what their decision will be. But if there is no live streaming/online viewing, does anyone know how international fans can know what's going on? Like, are there accounts who records the events and shares them, or maybe can we use vpn when the show gets broadcasted? maybe twitter, tumblr, etc fan accounts who gives updates? Like, I'm way too excited over this, I don't wanna miss out lol
  11. Here's a Yuzu hugs compilation for everyone (with music that sounds like it was made for him)
  12. I'm holding on to the hope that Yuzu attending all Faoi shows is a sign that his ankles are doing well. Also, as a new fan after Beijing Olys, I haven't had the chance to cheer on Yuzu with anticipation in real time so everytime someone says he's not retiring I get way too excited. Only for fans to say he actually has't formally/officially announced yet. But at the end of the day, whether he retires or not, it's his decision.
  13. I'm a relatively new fan so I'm not exactly sure about this. Would the recent Ice Jewels translation be available/shared to international fans someday? I saw someone translated it from jpn -> chn -> eng, but it got deleted because of translator's requests before I got the chance to read it. Or is it typically more like the Aoi Honoo books where you need to provide proof of purchase to get the translation?
  14. Hi! Welcome here! There are skaters like Wakaba who are terribly terribly underscored, arguably even worse than Yuzu's. It might even be worse for those from small feds. I may even make the case that Yuzuru is not actually terribly underscored (with a few exceptions like Worlds 2017 Hope and Legacy. I think he deserved a lot of perfect +3 GOEs and higher PCs in that fs), it's just that other skaters are way overscored, especially right now. If Yuzu is getting 9.5 in transitions for example, other skaters with way less transitions should get way lower PCs (but it doesn't really happen, surprise!) Anyways, it's not just during Yuzu's era. Questionable scoring has always been a problem for ISU. It is a common consensus that Kim Yuna was robbed at her last Olympics. I heard about Chanflation too. I kinda understand they have to prepare for when Yuzu retires. I'm sure Yuzu also wants figure skating to continue even after he retires. But JSF are infamous for being questionable to Yuzu to say the least. Treating him that way leaves a bad taste to a lot of people who gained interest in figure skating because of Yuzu. There is an increasing trend of people who are only Yuzuru Hanyu fans, and not figure skating in general, and it's easy to see why. At the end of the day, Hanyu is Hanyu. No one can replace him. Ask any figure skating fan if someone can replace Kim Yuna or V/M and you'll get funny looks. This is not because no one will ever surpass them (although i don't think anyone really has yet), but because they've already built a legacy and are already legendary. No one can replace them. The same applies to Yuzu. JSF, ISU, can do whatever they want but it's clearly not working. IMO, there are a lot of skaters in Japan right now who have lots of potential. Yuma, Shun, Kao, Kazuki, etc. I just hope that whoever is actually the best among them actually get the support instead of JSF picking favorites and literally ignoring other great skaters. Actually, Yuzuru is still one of the skaters who have the most technical skills and best techniques. He is a skater who is the best or atleast within the top 3 of rankings whether it comes to jumps, spins, step sequences, transitions, etc. Most skater only excel in one or two and may lack in other aspects (Jason Brown for example excels in PCs but he lacks the quad jumps although he is training and improving as well), which is why a lot of people say Yuzu is the most complete skater. There is very little to criticize about his skating. Even more, there is almost very little to improve in his skating (although he somehow manages to improve even more each time) In terms of jump, which seems to be the focus of figure skating nowadays, the only jump he hasn't done in comp is 4f, so he is still way ahead of other competitors (I think only Nathan has landed all the quad jumps, except the 4a). I'm not even gonna talk about his execution of those jumps, which are not only textbook perfect, but he also adds so many extra details and difficulty because Yuzu gotta be Yuzu and has to make it hard for himself. Realistically and because figure skating is a sport, someone will surpass Yuzuru one day in terms of technical skills. However, I don't think anyone can replace or surpass Yuzuru himself. As I mentioned above, Yuzuru is Yuzuru. There will be no one else like Yuzuru. The others have to create a name for themselves and make a path of their own. Using your comparison, Mozart is Mozart. But, there will be other iconic composers - Beethoven, for example.
  15. As someone who became a fan weeks after Beijing Olympics, I would be sad if he does retire now, because I wouldn't be able to experience cheering for him in real time for competitions without knowing the results beforehand, not knowing about the costumes and programs - the chaos and excitement you all talk about. So when I saw the list, and thought that was confirmation that his ankles are healing well and he will compete next season, I was so happy. But people clarified that he has not actually confirmed yet. But in the end, I will respect his decision. It would be selfish and entitled to demand or complain about him retiring.
  16. Satomi Ito Update: Costume for Yuzu with Game of Thrones in mind https://twitter.com/StmitoD/status/1516686441736450048?s=20&t=hBieYnRoCgwjl4C5m5lvlw wait... how do you embed tweets? This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  17. Does anyone have any links, articles, and videos that talks about Yuzuru being part in the production (or other areas) of faoi?
  18. is there any reason why 127 is important?
