Yeah tbh the reason I joined Planet is because [Admin edit: Please don't generalize groups of FS fans.]. I also think Planet has some of the most rational fans. Its a safe haven to enjoy Yuzuru and what other skaters do on the ice. Let's not rant about the haters. Not everyone will love Yuzu and they will just spread malicious things about him. But as long as it doesnt affect his achievement and he doesnt care about it, Im totally not going to waste my energy on them

Yep that why I joined. I come here to get away from [Admin edit: Please don't generalize groups of FS fans.] That place can seriously traumatize a person.

Every now and then I will replied some messages on YT to questions some of the arguments. Mostly not trying to convince them otherwise though, that's just a waste of time. :68468287:

K-POP fans in my country got bad reps too--although I just know about it from my friends since I don't really watch many k-dramas or listening to k-songs.

Ahem...anyway. I don't think there's anything non-Korean speakers can do. [Admin edit: Please don't generalize groups of FS fans.] I'm glad Chinese internet likes Yuzu--tbh like 90% of my Chinese reading practice is reading threads about figure skating, so if there was Yuzu-hatred everywhere, my Chinese literacy would probably decay to nothing.

Edit: though it's important to note that not all Koreans are like this, just an unfortunately loud subset. There are Korean Yuzu fans too

Chinese Yuzu fans are very very protective of yuzu. If there are rumors about yuzu on chinese website/platform, Chinese fans will definitely chase it down.

I have to say I am glad that in my country nearly no one cares about figure skating anymore. :xD:

Some people were simply born to hate everything. (And there were some massive haters in history as well.) People are blind and vastly uneducated, hating everything that is better then their standards, or everything they don't understand. Sadly, many people hate something because someone else told them it's the right thing to do. That is the worst and the most tragic case, because such people won't ever listen to any arguments.

Yeah, I am sad each time I read hating posts, no matter what are they about. I try hard not to take them personally, but it's not working most of the time. It kind of hurts when you see other people lost in their hatred. And Yuzu being such an emotional soul, I really, really hope, he managed to ignore all this.

But he care. And he addressed this problem already (at least during CiONTU).

Oh, I don't want to even think about that. His expression was so deeply sad, at some parts of his CiONTU speech. I didn't find any translation, so I don't know what he was saying exactly, but watching him, I feel I don't want to know.

Yeah I remember that and I see where you're coming from. But I always felt like he was addressing the Japanese community. With the korean media, its just no use and I actually find it easier to fence off false rumours. Theres no point to argue about it when its not even true. I also dont know how big figure skating still is in Korea after Kim Yuna retired to impact the fandom. Figure skating is more of a national sport in Japan so it has much more impact on Yuzu and he can read about it more regularly. I heard some Japanese dont like his competitive attitude so I just thought it could be more about that than about others who spread malicious rumours about him.

It seem a fanyu is traveling home and was on the same bus and same airport as him. They aren’t taking pics but of course is looking at him do a solo karaoke performance while waiting :68468287:

You know I thought about this flying to Helsinki. There must always be fellow— fanyus travelling with him by chance— and we never see secretely taken  photos or videos or get any kind of information...everybody is so discreet — and this is one thing of many things I love about the fanyus (us):).

Guys, just a reminder that calling out people from other platforms (and/or starting witch hunts) isn't allowed in our rules.:POOH:

I know it's terrible to see the kind of lies that antis and other people say about Yuzu but there's not much we can do.

Engaging is rarely the solution, it's kind of hard to win arguments on the internet anyway, so let's try to not bring a lot of attention to those posts.

when I read things like that, I feel really glad for him that he's able to train in Canada, and Toronto specifically. Not that it's a perfect place, but it's so far removed from the general craziness of idol-style fandom that is starting to engulf him. And it's such cosmopolitan place ( every language in the world is spoken there, more 50% of residents were born somewhere else outside of Canada), that narrow-minded racialism is frowned on. TCC itself is a reflection of that.

That sounds absolutely wonderful. Yuzu, the miracle boy who prompts family get-togethers, too, now! Thank you for sharing (now and during over the weekend). :)

You pointed out something important here. It was something I noticed at ACI too. I was remarking how being a Yuzu fan was creating all these moments and communities and opportunities for so many people who otherwise would have not had them, and they're all basically positive opportunities. And it occurred to me that the Yuzu fan-omenon has gotten so much bigger than just being about him, even though it's still because of  him.

Is this his secret superpower that not even he realizes? It might be...
