Oh, really? That might go poorly for them, if they can't get to Russia in time and if Skate America gets cancelled. I like them a lot, so I hope they'll be able to compete somehow.

That's what I've read at Russian forums. The main question only is if there're flights.

I thought Europe had banned any US-originating flights, but I don't know about Russia.

I was surprised so I checked on a travel site, Delta and Air France still have direct flights between New York and Paris.

The only thing is, you must take a test before the flight, or, if it is not available in the country of origin, at the arrival. (This, from 16 countries where there is still an epidemic.)

I checked one sales site out of interest and there are options via Turkey, Ukrain. Anyway RusFed will be dumb to keep them out of nationals. There's also test skates in September, so maybe they'll come back to it even.

Concerning Alena Kostornaia, there are some insider information that quite a set of medical specialists are working with her. I don’t know how much credit can be given to that.

Seeing her video, I perceived her as somehow distressed, but I gave "credit" for it to the circumstances of her coaches switch. Now I wonder.

Do you know if there are medics at Novogorsk? If not, she may find easier to consult now she's training with Angels of Plushenko.

And how she has grown! She said during the confinement, that she was 1m53 which was her mother's size, did she say anything about it since? Her face is still changing too.

Hmm. My brain is whirling with all the possible implications. I do know that in the very first photo posted of her after her move to Plush, her eyes look puffy and swollen beneath, just like she'd been crying the night before.

It seems that she overtrained a bit after that two week gap without training, and pulled a muscle, but that’s nothing too serious. There seem to be some other relatively minor issues, too, not anything too drastic. What seems to be promising is that Plushenko has a whole lot of medical staff working for his club, they say, so now they are watching Alena. Sasha and Alena are training separately, since they are quite in different places as far as readiness to do things are concerned. Such are the reports.
Basically, Plushenko says Alena is starting from scratch. Ok, hope they get to work well together.

I hope they are taking care of her.

You know, I was hypothesizing that maybe Alena was holding out for sponsorships until after she won Worlds. She was very, very likely to, and with the title she could have negotiated for more, I bet. She was certainly getting top 2 so it wouldn't have put her in a worse position to wait until after Worlds. But then we know what happened...

But now to go from probable world champion to starting from scratch......must be difficult. I'd cry, too.
