Overall a good men's LP event, which is quite rare this season. Elladj had the best performance for me. Keegan skated well to, love that backflip after the FS. Patrick skated better than I expect, although most of his jumps are tight and no 3A. His skating is beautiful but I feel like something is missing, the spark and the confidence to go for the jump. I feel sad when I watch this perf even though its much better than the SP.

I dont find the problem with Patrick's comment. To me, he use Michael Jordan as a reference that even the greatest made mistake, you have to look at what hedid and archived and that's the highlight of his career. He did not compare himself with Michael. But then again, Its better not to mention about Michael Jordan :slinkaway:

Oh, I think he was definitely comparing himself to Michael Jordan. He has no filter when it comes to how highly he regards himself. When asked why he returned to skating after his post-Olympic break he said "for the same reason all the greats have a hard time staying away."  He's lucky he's such a beautiful skater.

I dont know, English is not my first language so I might be wrong, but that's what I get from his words. I mean, Patrick has too many problematic quotes, now and then and I don't like it either. I think this time is ok. I get it that maybe not the best thing to say, but compare to things he said in the past, I can stand this

The way this competition is structured makes it hard to tell what been going on when you come to read the threads!

Just watched both of Patrick's programmes - his music choices this season are so dreary I wouldn't be surprised if he was clinically depressed listening to that on repeat day after day.  He certainly looks miserable - and he's back to making unwise comments in his interviews.  It's a pity his new coaching team can't rein him in, it's not a good impression to be bowing out with.

I do not think any coaching team has ever had influence on what Patrick says. And I think his "coaches" are more like consultants. He does it his way, that's it.

I realize I never did do this for the previous Nationals (I've been lazy) so I'll try to remedy that. First off, Canadian Nationals.

Nothing against Phil, just like to point out the different perspective in terms of how to commentate during competitions.

tbh I prefer commentators building up the athletes and highlighting the positives that are there compared to commentators building narratives and putting skaters one against the other

Congrats to all medalists! Even those who screwed my predictions :P)

And congrats to those who'll go to Olys! Keegan must be feeling so happy:tumblr_inline_n18qraikFP1qid2nw:

I know it's likely Patrick won't go to Milan, but I really hope he will. I'd like to see him live once :tumblr_inline_ncmifiE3IT1rpglid: I'd even almost forgive his constant snubbing Yuzu:tumblr_inline_mueoe3Yabh1qdlkyg:
