I am not sure there's a way to retool technique much at the adult age and it's not like Nathan's technique is that bad (there's much worse), the problem is that it's rewarded like it's perfect, so yes, he shouldn't ask for more candies, quadsters with right passport have them already.

Hmm, why is his technique considered bad? Don’t think it’s the best out there but isn’t his technique considered pretty good?

I think for Nathan it's due to the fact he had a hip surgery when he was 16 or 17. I remember Rafael saying in an interview before that Nathan was all for quads & more quads.

But yeah of course, Nathan doesnt "live & breath skating" like Yuzu does. Yuzu has a relatively normal school life compared to US skaters. In US, some were homeschooled so to make time for skating.

This hip surgery of his is new to me.
It made me think.

Could it be that he lands rather stiffly to protect his hip, at the expense of his knees or even ankles? It makes me worry even more for him.

On edge jumps it's rather bleh.

Tho could be worse.

I’m referring really to his general skating skills  - stiff knees principally, which make his landings look awkward and his steps jerky, and I’m not particularly a fan of his spins.  I’m no fan of Patrick Chan but rewatching GPF 2013 when he was still in his pomp the smoothness of his skating is amazing.  Don’t miss the carping interview after the competition, and don’t expect the depth of PCs edges, but some effort to improve would be good.  Or as I say, accept gratefully and don’t comment.

If you only talk about take-off techniques, his Lz and Toe are pretty good (esp when 90% skaters can't toe-pick now), his Flip edge is kinda flat (I would say Yuzu's Flip edge is even more inside). His edge jumps are average, understandable when his knees are always stiff. His landings, as everybody knows, are all meh.

That's fine exhortation. Yet there will be temptation. :drama: (Not to watch, but to vote for a candidate, unwilling as he may be.)

But that announcement of a skating award in Sweden, does it mean the Gala will be replaced by crap, as was projected in Montréal?

I really don't know if I'll be able to go to Stockholm, but I really wish to know, and if I can go, I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to express our disapprobation? In an orderly manner, of course.

I meant, will it be in addition to regular Exhibition (in which case, empty seats, visible on TV etc, will suffice), or instead of, as planned for Montréal?

instead of

ie. medalists only then a bunch of retired skaters represented by Ari so he can collect their appearance fees.

There was another video showing him getting off the ice into the wheelchair but could be taken down by now.

He missed 2016 WC because of the surgery.

More to the point, don't buy tickets for the 'gala' at Worlds next year, because you won't get what you pay for.

Ovechkin? Iesu Christe. What does a hockey player know about figure skating?!

So now we know the awards are simply a blatant attempt by Zakarian to line his own pockets.

It's still kinda hard if you know there's one more chance to see Yuzu. But good lesson from Montreal - don't buy all-event at least close to the short side cuz view can be just blocked. I wish they would sell all event without Gala like in Japan.

I guess the reference was that NHL has some kind of awards. But it's not during match and NHL is in another league in terms of money. I only wonder how he convinced ISU to pay for the event.

All-event tickets for Worlds 2014 were only for SP and FS but all-event for last year included the gala as well.
If they are going to hold the award show in the future Worlds, they should at least announce it from the beginning and sell the seats with obstructed views at a suitable price with advance notice, but I wonder if such a plan will survive under this situation. Nobody knows when the next international competition will happen and how. We don't know how many people will be able to travel for the Worlds next spring, or how many people will be able to sit in the arena. (In my country, re-opened movie theaters are blocking seats like this to keep the distance between the audience. We will see if this is effective or not...) Also, companies that have been supporting FS events as sponsors are suffering economic blows. ISU will have to adjust their plan for both short-term and long-term. If I were them, I would freeze the costly award first, but if I were them, I wouldn't have considered holding it in the first place...:tumblr_inline_mqt4gvxBXC1qz4rgp:

If only there was some audit of Montréal fiasco, it could also get us rid of that crap.
