1 Kailani CRAINE AUS

 

 

Kailani Craine is an Australian figure skater. She was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia on 13 August 1998. Kailani started skating when she was eight years old and six years later she first appeared on the international scene in the junior events. In 2014 she participated in Junior World Championship but did not advance past the short program. In December 2014, she won both the Junior and Senior Australian national titles. Though in 2016 she did not manage to qualify past the short program, in 2017 she did and placed 24th overall at the World Championships in Helsinki. 

 

She is a four-time Junior and three-time Senior Australian national champion, has won six international medals including the gold at 2017 Nebelhorn trophy where she won the spot for Australia for the 2018 Olympic Games.

2 Larkyn AUSTMAN CAN

 

 

Larkyn Austman is a Canadian figure skater. She was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada on February 22, 1998. Early on in her career she won the silver medal at novice level at the 2012 Canadian Championships and gold competing as a junior at the 2013 Canadian Championships. Her international Junior debut was during the 2013/14 season when she competed on the Junior Grand Prix circuit, and finished 8th in Tallinn, Estonia. That season she competed at the 2014 World Junior Championships and managed to qualify for the free program, finishing 16th overall. The following season, after placing only tenth at her 2014 JGP assignment in France she decided to quit skating but returned the following year, and managed to finish sixth at the 2016 Canadian Championships. She was 4th at the 2017 Canadian Championships which made her the member of the Canadian National team.

 

She has won the bronze medal at the 2017 International Challenge Cup in The Hague, Netherlands.

Alaine CHARTRAND

Alaine Chartrand is a Canadian figure skater. She was born in Brockville, Ontario, on March 26, 1996. She started skating when she was just 3 years old. She debuted in the Junior Grand Prix series in 2012 and participated in 2013 World Junior Championships in Milan, Italy, where she finished eighth, as well as 2014 World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria where she finished fifth. She debuted on the senior Grand Prix series at the 2014 Skate Canada International, finishing seventh. At the 2014 Rostelecom Cup, she obtained her first GP medal, a bronze. She participated in the 2015 World Championships in Shanghai, China where she finished 11th overall and 2016 World Championships in Boston where she finished 17th. Last season she did not qualify for the World Championships but participated in the 2017 Four Continents Championships in Gangneung, South Korea where she placed 11th.

 

She is the 2014 Rostelecom Cup bronze medalist and 2016 Canadian national champion.

4 Kaetlyn OSMOND CAN

 

Kaetlyn Osmond is a Canadian figure skater. She was born in Marystown, Newfoundland, Canada on December 5, 1995. Osmond began skating at age three, following her elder sister Natasha. Her home town couldn't provide for enough training time so she often had to travel to Montreal to train and since age ten, she has been training at the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club in Edmonton. Though she won the short at the 2012 World Junior Championships, she finished 10th overall. Next season she won her first international title at 2012 Nebelhorn Trophy and made her senior Grand Prixdebut at the 2012 Skate Canada. That season she won her first the Canadian national title, the first time in ten years that a ladies' single skater from outside Quebec has done so. Next season she repeated as national champion and represented Canada at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, where she finished 13th. In March, she placed 11th at the 2014 World Championships in Saitama, Japan. The following season she was assigned to compete at 2014 Skate Canada International and 2014 Trophee Eric Bompard she had to withdraw due to a broken leg, which also forced her to miss out on the rest of it. She gradually returned to skating, and received the silver medal, behind Evgenia Medvedeva, at the 2016 Skate Canada International. In November, she took silver behind Elena Radionova at the 2016 Cup of China. This was enough to gain entry to the GPF, making her the first Canadian lady to qualify to the Grand Prix Final since Joannie Rochette did so in the 2009-2010 season. In March 2017, Osmond was awarded the silver medal at the World Championships in Helsinki, Finland, having ranked second in both segments. It was the highest result at the event by a Canadian ladies' singles skater since 2009, when Rochette also won silver.

 

She is the 2017 World silver medalist, the 2012 Skate Canada International champion, a two-time Nebelhorn Trophy champion, and a three-time Canadian national champion (2013, 2014, 2017).

5 Laurine LECAVELIER FRA

 

Laurine Lecavelier is a French figure skater. Lecavelier was born on 26 April 1996 in Enghien-les-Bains, France. She started skating when she was 5 years old and debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series in 2011. She won her first senior national medal, bronze, at the 2013 French Championships and was sent to the 2013 World Junior Championships in Milan. She finished 13th. The following season she competed at the 2014 European Championships in Budapest where she also placed 13th. In 2014/15 season she made her Grand Prix debut, placing 11th at the 2014 Trophée Éric Bompard and again participated in the 2015 European Championships in Stockholm, this time finishing 10th, an accomplishment she repeated the season after that. The 2016/17 was her most successful thus far. She won bronze at the International Cup of Nice and finished 6th at the Trophée de France, took gold at the French Championships in Caen and placed 5th overall at the European Championships in Ostrava. 

 

She is the 2017 French national champion.

6 Marin HONDA JPN

 

Marin Honda is a Japanese figure skater. She was born on August 21, 2001 in Kyoto, Japan. She is one of five children and with the exception of her sister Maho, all of her siblings are figure skaters and Miyu is also a popular child actress in Japan. Honda began skating at the age of two after following her older brother, Taichi. She debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix in the 2015/16 season and won the silver medal at the JGP in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. At her second JGP event, in Zagreb, Croatia she won gold which qualified her for that season's JGPF in Barcelona, Spain where she won the bronze medal behind Russia's Polina Tsurskaya and Maria Sotskova. She placed 6th at the 2015-16 Japanese Junior Championships and 9th in the Senior Championships which assured she was named into the national team. At 2016 World Junior Championships in Debrecen she won the gold medal. The following season she qualified for her second JGP Final but withdrew due to illness. She placed fourth overall at her second senior Japan National Championships and was assigned to compete at the 2017 World Junior Championships in Taipei where she was awarded the silver medal.

 

She is the 2016 World Junior champion, 2017 World Junior silver medalist and 2015–16 Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medalist.

 

She set the junior-level ladies's record for the free program to 128.64 points at the 2016 JGP Japan on September 11, 2016. Her record was broken at the 2016 JGP Germany by Anastasiia Gubanova (Russia) on October 8, 2016.

7 Rika HONGO JPN

 

Rika Hongo is a Japanese figure skater. She was born on September 6, 1996 in Sendai, Japan. Her mother is a former figure skater, while her father is British. She began skating at the age of five and at the age of nine moved to Nagoya to train under coach Hiroshi Nagakubo. She debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series in the 2012/12 season where she won a silver medal in Courchevel, France and placed fifth in Croatia. Along with Satoko Miyahara, she was selected to represent Japan at the 2013 World Junior Championships in Milan, Italy where she placed ninth overall. At the 2014 World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria she moved one place up, eight. Making her senior Grand Prix debut, she finished fifth at the 2014 Skate Canada International. She made her senior worlds debut at the 2015 World Championships in Shanghai where she finished sixth overall. She finished 8th at the 2016 World Championships in Boston. She participated in the 2017 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships as an injury replacement for Satoko Miyahara and finished 10th.

 

She is a two-time (2015–16) Four Continentsbronze medalist, 2014 Rostelecom Cup champion, 2015 Finlandia Trophy champion, and 2014/15 Japanese national silver medalist.

8 Anna POGORILAYA RUS

 

Anna Alexeyevna Pogorilaya is a Russian figure skater. She was born 10 April 1998 in Moscow, Russia. Pogorilaya began skating at age four and about two years later, Anna Tsareva became her coach. She made her ISU Junior Grand Prix debut in the 2012/13 season. After taking bronze in Croatia, her first event, she then won gold at the JGP event in Germany which was enough to qualify for the JGPF in Sochi, where she won the bronze medal. At the Russian Championships, she placed fifth in her senior debut and sixth on the junior level. The following season she made her senior Grand Prix debut and qualified for her first senior Grand Prix Final where she placed sixth in Fukuoka, Japan. At Worlds in Saitama, Japan she finished fourth overall. She again qualified for the GPF in the 2014/15 season held in Barcelona, where she placed fourth. She was selected to compete at the 2015 European Championships where she won the bronze medal and the 2015 World Championships in Shanghai, where she finished 13th overall. Her placement was significantly affected by an injury that had not year healed by the time the competition was held. The following season she won the bronze medal at the 2016 Russian Championships in Yekaterinburg, repeated the bronze at the  European Championships, which were held in Bratislava, Slovakia and at the 2016 World Championships in Boston won  the bronze medal behind Russia's Evgenia Medvedeva and USA's Ashley Wagner. In 2016/17 season she obtained the bronze medal in Marseille, France, at her third Grand Prix Final. At the 2017 Worlds, after a bad free program, she finished 13th.

 

She is the 2016 World bronze medalist, a three-time European medalist (2017 silver, 2015–2016 bronze), the 2016/17 Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, and the 2016 Russian national bronze medalist. She has won gold at four Grand Prix events – 2013 Cup of China, 2014 Skate Canada International, 2016 Rostelecom Cup, and 2016 NHK Trophy.

9 Maria SOTSKOVA RUS

 

Maria Romanovna Sotskova is a Russian figure skater. She was born on 12 April 2000 in Reutov, Moscow Oblast, Russia. She began skating at the age of four after her mother decided to bring her to the ice rink and made her junior international debut at the 2013/14 Junior Grand Prix. She qualified for the JGP Final in Fukuoka, Japan where she won the gold medal. She then took silver behind Sakhanovich at the 2014 Russian Junior Championships and was assigned to the 2014 World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria but was forced to withdraw due to an injury. The following season she finished 4th in Barcelona, Spain at her second JGP Final and placed 5th at the 2015 World Junior Championships in Tallinn. In the 2015/16 season she qualified for her third JGP Final where she took the silver medal which she repeated at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in Hamar, Norway. In the 2016/17, she participated in her first Senior Grand Prix and qualified for the Grand Prix Finals in Marseille where she finished 5th. She then placed 5th at the 2017 European Championships in Ostrava and 8th at the 2017 World Championships in Helsinki. 

 

She is the 2016 Youth Olympic silver medalist, the 2016 World Junior silver medalist, the 2013/14 Junior Grand Prix Final champion, and the 2017 Russian national bronze medalist.

10 Karen CHEN USA

 

Karen Chen is an American figure skater. She was born in Fremont, California on August 16, 1999. She has a younger brother, Jeffrey, who is also a figure skater and started skating when she was six years old. In 2013/14 she had her Junior Grand Prix debut and qualified for the JGP Final. While practicing a triple Lutz, she broke her right ankle and had to withdraw but still participated at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria where she finished 9th overall. The following season she won the bronze medal in her senior national debut at the 2015 U.S. Championships, behind Ashley Wagner and Gracie Gold. Though she finished 8th at the 2016 U.S. Championships, the following season was much more successful and Chen won the gold medal at the 2017 U.S. Championships. She set a new U.S. record with her short program score of 72.82. At the 2017 Four Continents Championships she finished 12th but at the 2017 World Figure Skating Championships Chen skated to a fourth place finish overall in her first appearance at the World Championships. Her placement, combined with a seventh place finish from USA's Ashley Wagner, qualified Team USA three spots for the 2018 Olympics and 2018 World Figure Skating Championships.

 

She is a bronze medalist at two ISU Challenger Series events, the 2015 U.S. national bronze medalist, and the 2017 U.S. national champion. She placed fourth at the 2017 World Championships.

11 Courtney HICKS USA

 

Courtney Hicks is an American figure skater. She was born on December 15, 1995 in Placentia, California, USA. She began skating when she was six years old and won the junior title at the 2011 U.S. Championships. In the 2011/12 season she debuted on the Junior Grand Prix series but sustained a season-ending injury while competing at her second JGP event in Milan, Italy. She placed 4th at the 2013 U.S. Championships and placed 5th at the 2013 World Junior Championships. She made her senior international debut in the 2013/14 season, winning gold at the 2013 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic. After finishing 6th at the 2014 U.S. Championships, she was sent to the 2014 Four Continents, where she placed 5th.  She finished 9th at the 2016 U.S. Championships. 

 

She has won two medals on the Grand Prix series—silver at the 2015 NHK Trophy and bronze at the 2016 Rostelecom Cup—and two medals on the ISU Challenger Series. She took gold at two other senior internationals, the 2013 Ice Challenge and U.S. Classic.

12 Ashley WAGNER USA

 

Ashley Elisabeth Wagner is an American figure skater. She was born on a U.S. Army Base in Heidelberg, Germany, on May 16, 1991. She  began skating at age five in Eagle River, Alaska because she was made to choose between it and ballet by her mother. In the 2006/07 season she made her Junior Grand Prix debut and qualified her for the Junior Grand Prix Final in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she won the silver medal.  At the 2007 Junior Worlds in Oberstdorf, Germany she won the bronze. She made her senior international debut at the 2007 Skate Canada International in Quebec City, Quebec, where she placed fifth overall. At the 2008 World Championshipsin Goteburg, Sweden, she finished 16th and the following year she represented the United States at the 2009 Junior Worlds in Sofia, Bulgaria where she placed third, winning her second junior world medal. She was placed on the team to the 2010 Junior Worlds, but withdrew from the team before the event.

 

At the 2012 U.S. Nationals, she won her first Nationals title and placed 4th at the 2012 World Championships. She qualified for the Grand Prix Final the following season and won her first medal, a silver. At the 2013 U.S. Championships she won her second national title and then placed 5th at Worlds 2013. Though she finished fourth at the 2014 U.S. Championships she was sent to 2014 Sochi Olympics where she won a team bronze medal. At the 2014 World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama, Japan she placed 7th overall and at 2015 World Championships in Shanghai 5th. At the 2016 U.S. Championships she won the bronze medal which qualified her to compete at the 2016 World Championships in Boston where she won the silver medal, becoming the first American woman to win a medal at the World Championships in a decade. At the 2017 World Championships in Helsink she placed 7th.

 

She is the 2016 World silver medalist, 2012 Four Continents champion, a three-time Grand Prix Final medalist, winner of five Grand Prix events (2012 and 2016 Skate America; 2012and 2013 Trophée Éric Bompard; 2015 Skate Canada), and a three-time U.S. national champion (2012, 2013, and 2015). She is the bronze medalist from the 2014 Sochi Olympics, in the Team Event.

According to an interview, Wagner has suffered several concussions and she believes these incidents had affected her cognitive abilities, including her ability to remember choreographies.

Well .... I'd say Marin has made it pretty much impossible for herself to get to the GPF  now, what with CoC coming up and the line up there. Of course this will influence the Oly spots fight too, so not the best for her.

 

Pogo completely out as well, and with far more problems it seems.

Do you think Carolina stands a chance to make it to the final? Can Wakaba make it?

I though after CoC as that's half way through, though sure why not.

I think Caro does but Wakaba is in a bit of a bind with that CoC assignment. Zagi, Mai ... though Marin seems to be taking a typical hit on the PCS due to her first year as Senior, she's also still very much in contention there. I am not sure 3+3 would be enough, we'd have to wait till the end to see how it unfolds.

Gabrielle Daleman is a Canadian figure skater. She was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on January 13, 1998. She has a younger brother who is also a competitive figure skater. She began skating at age four and debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series in autumn 2012. At the 2013 World Junior Championships she finished sixth. As a second time national silver medalist at the Canadian Championships, she was named to the Canadian team at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, where she finished 17th, as the youngest athlete in the Canadian delegation. The following season brought her senior Grand Prix debut and her first national title. She also finished seventh at the 2015 Four Continents Championships, 21st at the 2015 World Championships in Shanghai, and 8th at the 2015 World Team Trophy. The season after, she competed at the 2016 World Championships in Boston where she finished 9th. During the season 2016/17 she won yet another silver at nationals, a silver at the 2017 Four Continents Championships in Gangneung, South Korea and finally at the 2017 World Championships in Helsinki a bronze medal.

 

She is the 2017 World bronze medalist, 2017 Four Continents silver medalist, 2014 CS Autumn Classic champion, and 2015 Canadian national champion.

2 Xiangning LI CHN

 

Li Xiangning is a Chinese figure skater. She was born in Qiqihar, China on May 11, 2000. She began skating at the age of four and debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series in August 2013, placing 10th in Riga, Latvia. She participated in the 2015 World Junior Championships, held in March in Tallinn, Estonia where she finished 21st overall and the following season she was 20th at the 2016 World Junior Championships in Debrecen, Hungary. In 2016/17 she made her senior international debut\in November at the Cup of China and at the 2017 World Championships in Helsinki, Finland she placed 14th, the highest for a Chinese lady. Li won her first senior international medal, silver, at the International Cup of Nice in October 2017.

 

She is the 2017 International Cup of Nice silver medalist and a four-time Chinese national senior medalist.

Li Zijun is a Chinese figure skater. She was born in Changchun, China on December 14, 1996. Li debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit during the 2010/11 season. At the Junior Grand Prix Final she won the bronze medal, and then finished 9th at the 2011 World Junior Championships. That year she won her first national title. The following season she again qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final which was held in Quebec City, Canada, where she finished fourth. In the 2012/13 season Li debuted on the senior Grand Prix series. At the 2014 Four Continents Championships she won a bronze medal, her first big senior one. She then competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia where she finished 14th and at the 2014 World Championships, where she finished 17th overall.  At the 2015 World Championships in Shanghai she finished 9th. She finished 10th at the 2016 Four Continents Championships in Taipei and 11th at the 2016 World Championships in Boston and 21st at the 2017 World Championships in Helsinki.

 

She is the 2014 Four Continents bronze medalist, the 2017 Asian Winter Games silver medalist, 2010 JGP Final bronze medalist, the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics bronze medalist and a four-time (2011, 2012 & 2013, 2014) Chinese national champion.

She has participated in 2012, 2013 and 2014 Junior Worlds Championships, where she finished 11th, 15th and 25th respectively. At the 2014 Four Continents Championships she finished 15th and at the 2015 World Championships 25th.

5 Wakaba HIGUCHI JPN

 

Wakaba Higuchi is a Japanese figure skater, born in Tokyo, January 2, 2001. She began skating at the age of 3 and quickly showed her talent, winning several novice titles. She was also a guest skater to skate in the gala at the 2014 World Championships in Saitama, Japan when she was 13 years old. Already in her debut on the JGP circuit she won the silver medal in Ostrava, Czech Republic. With a gold medal at her second JGP event in Dresden, Germany, she qualified for the 2014–15 JGP Final, where she finished third. That season she also won the the Japanese national junior title, a feat she repeated the following season. In her first senior season, she placed 10th at Four Continents Championships and 11th at World Championships, which helped bring Japan two slots for the upcoming 2018 Olympic Games. She won the team event with Team Japan at WTT 2017.

 

She is a two-time World Junior bronze medalist (2015, 2016), the 2014–15 Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, and a three-time Japan senior national medalist (bronze in 2015, silver in 2016 and 2017).

6 Marin HONDA JPN

 

Marin Honda is a Japanese figure skater. She was born on August 21, 2001 in Kyoto, Japan. She is one of five children and with the exception of her sister Maho, all of her siblings are figure skaters and Miyu is also a popular child actress in Japan. Honda began skating at the age of two after following her older brother, Taichi. She debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix in the 2015/16 season and won the silver medal at the JGP in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. At her second JGP event, in Zagreb, Croatia she won gold which qualified her for that season's JGPF in Barcelona, Spain where she won the bronze medal behind Russia's Polina Tsurskaya and Maria Sotskova. She placed 6th at the 2015-16 Japanese Junior Championships and 9th in the Senior Championships which assured she was named into the national team. At 2016 World Junior Championships in Debrecen she won the gold medal. The following season she qualified for her second JGP Final but withdrew due to illness. She placed fourth overall at her second senior Japan National Championships and was assigned to compete at the 2017 World Junior Championships in Taipei where she was awarded the silver medal.

 

She is the 2016 World Junior champion, 2017 World Junior silver medalist and 2015–16 Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medalist.

 

She set the junior-level ladies's record for the free program to 128.64 points at the 2016 JGP Japan on September 11, 2016. Her record was broken at the 2016 JGP Germany by Anastasiia Gubanova (Russia) on October 8, 2016.

7 Mai MIHARA JPN

 

Mai Mihara is a Japanese competitive figure skater. She was born on 22 August 1999 in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. She started skating when she was eight years old and debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit in the 2012/13 season. Mihara made her senior international debut in early August 2015, winning the Asian Open. She also qualified for the 2015/16 JGP Final in Barcelona where she placed 6th. The following season she competed at her first Challenger Series competition, the 2016 CS Nebelhorn Trophy where she won gold and then made her senior Grand Prix debut at the 2016 Skate America. She then took bronze at the Japan Championships, and took part at the Four Continents Championships in Gangneung, South Korea where she won another gold. At the 2017 World Championships in Helsinki she placed fifth overall, and together with Wakaba Higuchi won two spots for Japan at the 2018 Olympic Games.  In April, Mihara competed as a part of Team Japan at the 2017 World Team Trophy and helped Team Japan win the gold medal overall.

 

She is the 2017 Four Continents champion, 2016 Skate America bronze medalist, 2016 CS Nebelhorn Trophy champion, and 2016/17 Japanese national bronze medalist.

Choi Da-bin is a South Korean figure skater. Choi was born on January 19, 2000, in Seoul, South Korea. She began skating when she was four years old. When she was nine, Choi won the novice silver medal at the 2010 South Korean Nationals. Competing on the senior level, she won bronze medals at the 2012 and 2013 Nationals. In the 2013/14 season she debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series and at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria she finished sixth overall. At the 2015 World Junior Championships she finished 9th. At the 2016 Four Continents Championships in Taipei, Taiwan, she placed 8th. Making her senior Grand Prix debut, Choi placed 7th at the 2016 Skate Canada International and 8th at the 2016 NHK Trophy. She placed 5th at the 2017 Four Continents Championships in Gangneung, South Korea, improving her personal best scores in all categories. Called up to replace the injured Park So-youn at the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan, Choi won her country's first-ever figure skating gold medal at the event. She then competed at the 2017 World Championships in Helsinki, Finland and placed 10th while improving her best scores, and won two spots for South Korea at the 2018 Winter Games.

 

She is the 2017 Asian Winter Games champion and a four-time South Korean national medalist (two silver, two bronze).

Yelena (Elena) Radionova is a Russian figure skater, born in Moscow, Russia, on 6 January 1999. Her father enrolled her into figure skating classes when she was 3 years old, to align her club foot. Since the age of 4, she has been coached by Inna Goncharenko at CSKA Moscow, until the change this season. She has had a very successful Junior career with two gold medals from Junior World Championships and a gold from the Junior Grand Prix Final. She made her Senior debut in the 2013/14 career and managed to qualify for the GPF on her first try, where she finished fourth overall. The following season she medaled at the World Championships, by winning 3rd place. Last season she competed in two Grand Prix events and qualified for her fourth consecutive GP final, where she finished 6th. She did not participate in 2017 European or World Championships.

 

She is the 2015 World bronze medalist, a two-time (2015–2016) European silver medalist, a two-time Grand Prix Final medalist, 2017 Winter Universiade champion and the 2015 Russian national champion. She is a gold medalist from Junior World Championships (2013 & 2014) and the 2012–13 JGP Final.

 

She is the first ladies' single skater to repeat as World Junior champion in 2014, where she broke the WR previously held by Mirai Nagasu and Yulia Lipnitskaya and became the first junior lady to score above 190 points.

Elizaveta Sergeyevna "Liza" Tuktamysheva is a Russian figure skater. She was born 17 December 1996 in Glazov, Udmurtia, Russia and has started skating when she was four years old. Her sister, Evgenia, is seven years younger and has also taken up skating. She debuted at the Junior Grand Prix circuit in the 2010/11 season and qualified for the JGPF right away, where she won the silver medal. At the 2011 World Junior Championships she repeated this. She debuted on the senior Grand Prix circuit at Skate Canada the following season, where she won gold. She is the first ladies' skater to win her senior debut event and to win both events in her senior Grand Prix debut. At the Grand Prix Final, she finished fourth. In the 2012/13 season she qualified for the Grand Prix Final in Sochi, Russia where she finished fifth. At the 2013 European Championships she won the bronze medal. At the 2013 World Championships for her Worlds debut, she finished 10th. In 2014/15 she qualified for the Grand Prix Final and won. She subsequently won the 2015 European Championship. At the 2015 World Figure Skating Championships she performed the triple axel for the first time in major competition, becoming the seventh woman to complete the jump and the fourth to do so at the World Championships. She won overall, becoming the third Russian woman to win the World Championships (after Maria Butyrskaya in 1999 and Irina Slutskaya in 2002 and 2005). 

 

She is the 2012 Youth Olympics champion, 2011 World Junior silver medalist, and 2010–11 JGP Final silver medalist; the 2015 World champion, the 2015 European champion, the 2014–15 Grand Prix Final champion and the 2013 Russian national champion.

Alina Ilnazovna Zagitova is a Russian figure skater. She was born on 18 May 2002 in Izhevsk, Russia. She was nameless for a year until her parents decided to name her "Alina" after watching Russian rhythmic gymnast Alina Kabaeva. She began skating when she was five years old. She trained in Izhevsk under Natalia Antipina until 2015 when she switched to Sambo 70 in Moscow. Her international debut came in late August 2016 at a 2016/17 ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) competition in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains, France. She qualified for the JGP Final, held in December in Marseille. In France, Zagitova ranked first in both segments and scored new junior ladies' records in all categories. She became the first junior lady skater in history to break the total score above the 200 mark. At the 2017 World Junior Championships in Taipei she won the gold medal. 

 

She is the 2017 World Junior champion, 2016–17 Junior Grand Prix Final champion, 2017 Russian national senior silver medalist and 2017 national junior champion.

 

She is the first junior lady skater in history to break the total score above the 200 mark, scoring a total of 207.43 points, at the 2016/17 JGP Final held in Marseille, France. She also set the junior-level ladies' record for the short program with score of 70.92 points there and the junior-level ladies' record for the free program with score of 136.51 points. She updated her record total to 208.60 set at the 2017 Junior Worlds.

Amber Glenn is an American figure skater. She was born October 28, 1999 in Plano, Texas, USA. She made her international debut and won a bronze medal at the 2013 Junior Grand Prix (JGP) event in the Czech Republic and became a national junior champion at the 2014 U.S. Championships. She participated at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria and finished seventh. After placing fifth at the 2015 JGP in Latvia and sixth on the senior level at the 2015 Skate Canada Autumn Classic in mid-October of the same year, she took a break from skating and then returned at the start of the following one, after a change of coaches. Glenn placed 5th at the 2016 CS Nebelhorn Trophy, 4th at the 2016 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb, and 8th at the 2017 U.S. Championships. She was selected to compete at the 2017 World Junior Championships but withdrew in early March. 

 

She has won two bronze medals on the ISU Junior Grand Prixseries and finished in the top ten at the 2014 World Junior Championships.

Carolina Kostner is an Italian figure skater, born in Bolzano, February 8, 1987. Her mother was a nationally ranked figure skater in the 1970s and her father an ice hockey player, who played ice hockey for the Italian national team at the World Championships and Olympic Games before becoming a coach. Her younger brother is also an ice hockey player and her godmother is the famous Italian skier Isolde Kostner, silver medalist in alpine skiing at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Carolina began skating at the age of 4 and after a successful career in Juniors, she entered the Senior division in season 2002/03 when she finished fourth at the European championships. That same season she became the first Italian skater to medal at Junior Worlds, winning a bronze. Her first medal at the World Championships came in 2005 when she beat Michelle Kwan for the bronze medal at the 2005 World Championships in Moscow. Her first European medal came next season, in 2006, and was chosen to be flag bearer for the host Italian team during the opening ceremonyof the 2006 Winter Olympics, where she finished 9th.  At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, she finished 16th overall after failing in most of her jumping elements in the free skate. In her third Olympic Games she finally medaled, winning the bronze after which she took a break from figure skating. In January 2015, Kostner was banned from the sport of figure skating for 16 months for lying about her ex-boyfriend Alex Schwazer, reportedly to help him conceal his use of illegal performance-enhancing hypobaric chamber machine and to help him hide from a drug test and then returned to figure skating, under Alexei Mishin, in 2016/17 season.

 

She is the 2014 Olympic bronze medalist, the 2012 World champion, a five-time European champion (2007–2008, 2010, 2012–2013), and the 2011 Grand Prix Final champion. She is also a medalist at five other World Championships (2005, 2008, 2011, 2013–14), five other European Championships (2006, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2017), and three other Grand Prix Finals (2007, 2008, 2010), the 2003 World Junior bronze medalist, and an eight-time Italian national champion.

 

She won the first World Ladies title (2012) as well as the first European Ladies title for Italy (2007) in history of skating. She was the first Italian lady to medal at World Championships (bronze in 2005) since 1978 and is also the first Italian single skater to win a medal at Junior Worlds. Last season, returning to the sport after a 2 year break, she won a bronze medal in Ostrava, at the European Championships and is the most decorated female singles skater in the history of the European Championships. She is well known for her excellent skating skills and interpretation of her programs.

3 Rika HONGO JPN

 

Rika Hongo is a Japanese figure skater. She was born on September 6, 1996 in Sendai, Japan. Her mother is a former figure skater, while her father is British. She began skating at the age of five and at the age of nine moved to Nagoya to train under coach Hiroshi Nagakubo. She debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series in the 2012/12 season where she won a silver medal in Courchevel, France and placed fifth in Croatia. Along with Satoko Miyahara, she was selected to represent Japan at the 2013 World Junior Championships in Milan, Italy where she placed ninth overall. At the 2014 World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria she moved one place up, eight. Making her senior Grand Prix debut, she finished fifth at the 2014 Skate Canada International. She made her senior worlds debut at the 2015 World Championships in Shanghai where she finished sixth overall. She finished 8th at the 2016 World Championships in Boston. She participated in the 2017 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships as an injury replacement for Satoko Miyahara and finished 10th.

 

She is a two-time (2015–16) Four Continentsbronze medalist, 2014 Rostelecom Cup champion, 2015 Finlandia Trophy champion, and 2014/15 Japanese national silver medalist.

4 Satoko MIYAHARA JPN

 

Satoko Miyahara is a Japanese figure skater. She was born on March 26, 1998 in Kyoto, Japan. She started skating when she was five years old, during the time she lived in the United States, due to her parents' work. She made her Junior international debut in the 2011/12 season, on the Junior Grand Prix circuit, in Gdańsk, Poland. That season she also participated in her first World Junior Championships, that was held in Minsk, Belarus, where she placed fourth. Next season she qualified for the JGP Final in Sochi, Russia and placed fifth and at the 2013 World Junior Championships she finished seventh. Debuting on the senior Grand Prix, she finished fifth at the 2013 NHK Trophy. She was selected to compete at the 2014 Four Continents Championships, where she won the silver medal. Miyahara finished fourth at the 2014 World Junior Championships — less than a point out of third. At the 2015 Four Continents Championships, she won silver for the second year in a row. At the 2015 World Championships she placed second overall. In the 2015/16 she qualified for her first Grand Prix Final and won the silver medal. She then won gold at the 2016 Four Continents and finished fifth at the 2016 World Championships in Boston. The following season she again qualified for the  Grand Prix Final in Marseille and placed second. Due to a stress fracture in her left hip joint, Miyahara withdrew from two February competitions, the 2017 Four Continents Championships and the 2017 Asian Winter Games, and subsequently,  withdraw from the 2017 World Championships.

 

She is the 2015 World silver medalist, a two-time Grand Prix Final silver medalist, the 2016 Four Continents champion, and a three-time Japanese national champion (2014–2016).

5 Yuna SHIRAIWA JPN

 

Yuna Shiraiwa is a Japanese figure skater. She was born in Kyoto, Japan on November 26, 2001. She began skating in 2006, after being inspired by Shizuka Arakawa's 2006 Olympic victory. She debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit in the 2015/16 season and qualified for the JGP Final in Barcelona, where she finished 5th. That season she won the silver medal at Japanese Junior Championships behind Wakaba Higuchi. Making her debut at the Japan Championships on the senior level, she placed 5th, and was named as a member of the Youth Olympic and the Junior World teams. At the 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Taipei City, Taiwan she placed 5th.

 

She has won gold medals at two ISU Junior Grand Prix events and finished in the top five at two World Junior Championships (2016–2017).

6 Soyoun PARK KOR

 

Park So-youn is a South Korean figure skater, born in Naju, Jeollanam-do, South Korea on October 24, 1997. She started skating in first grade of elementary school, was when she was eight years old. In 2009, she became the youngest Korean national team member when she was just 13 years old. She participated in 2013 World Junior Championships, where she placed 12th. Her Senior debut happened in the 2013/14 season. She managed to place second behind Kim Yuna and participated in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, where she finished 21st overall. In the previous season she was 8th at the 2016 Skate America and then 5th at the 2016 Trophée de France but subsequently suffered an injury; she fractured her left ankle during training and was forced to sit out the reminder of the season.

 

 

She is the 2015 South Korean National champion, the 2012 Asian Trophy champion, the 2012 JGP Turkey silver medalist and the bronze medalist from 2012 Winter Youth Olympics, team event.

7 Alena LEONOVA RUS

 

Alena Igorevna Leonova is a Russian figure skater. She was born on 23 November 1990 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Leonova started skating at the age of four and won silver at the 2007 Junior Grand Prix in Romania. She then won gold at the 2009 World Junior Championships. Leonova won the bronze medal at the 2009 Cup of Russia and silver at the 2009 NHK Trophy to qualify her for the Grand Prix Finalwhere she finished sixth. he finished 13th at the 2010 World Championships and earned one of Russia's two ladies' entries for the 2010 Winter Olympics, where she placed ninth. The following season she finished fourth at the 2011 World Championships and the one after that, she at the Grand Prix Final, she won the bronze medal. At  the 2012 World Championships she won the silver medal. She did not go to the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics and her career slowly wound down since then, though she regularly participates in Challenger and GP series.

 

She is the 2012 World silver medalist, the 2011 Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, the 2009 World Junior champion, and a three-time (2010–2012) Russian national medalist. She is also the 2014/15 ISU Challenger Series runner-up.

8 Evgenia MEDVEDEVA RUS

 

Evgenia Medvedeva is a Russian figure skating, born in Moscow, Russia, on 19 November 1999. Her mother is a former Russian figure skater. Her parents wanted her to practice figure skating to improve her figure so she started skating at the age of 3. Though she was initially coached by initially by Elena Proskurina, Lubov Yakovleva, and Elena Selivanova around 2008 she switched to Eteri Tutberidze at the Olympic Reserve Sports School no. 37, renamed Sambo 70. In her first Junior season she won the bronze medals at both the JGPF and at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. The following year in Juniors and two in Seniors, she won gold medals at these events.

 

She is a two-time World champion (2016, 2017), a two-time European champion (2016, 2017), a two-time Grand Prix Final champion (2015, 2016), and a two-time Russian national champion (2016, 2017). Earlier in her career, she won the 2015 World Junior Championships, the 2014 Junior Grand Prix Final, and the 2015 Russian Junior Championships.

 

She is the first ladies' singles skater to win senior Worlds the year after winning Junior Worlds, first ladies' singles skater to win two consecutive senior Worlds the year after winning Junior World, and by winning the 2017 World Championships, she became the first female skater to win back-to-back world titles in 16 years since Michelle Kwan did so in 2000 and 2001, and the first Russian woman ever to successfully defend her world title. She has set world record scores 11 times and is the first female skater to surpass the 80-point short program mark, the 160-point free skating mark, and the 230-point and 240-point total mark. She is the current holder of world record scores in all three marks.

9 Polina TSURSKAYA RUS

 

Polina Igorevna Tsurskaya is a Russian competitive figure skater. She  was born on 11 July 2001 in Omsk, Russia and moved to Moscow in 2013. She began skating in 2005 and made her international debut in August 2015 at the Junior Grand Prix, in Bratislava, Slovakia. She qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Finals, held in Barcelona, where she won the gold medal. She broke the junior records in the free skate and total scores set by compatriot Elena Radionova. Competing on the senior level, Tsurskaya finished fourth later in December at the Russian Championships before winning her first junior national title in January. In February, Tsurskaya won gold at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway but was forced to withdraw from 2016 World Junior Championships in Debrecen due to an ankle injury. In September 2016, Tsurskaya won gold at two JGP series events. She was the second-ranked qualifier to the JGP Final in Marseille, but withdrew on 29 November and underwent surgery on her right knee.

 

She is the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic champion, the 2015–16 JGP Final champion and the 2016 Russian Junior National champion.

She is the former junior ladies' record-holder for the highest short program score, free program score and combined total scores.

10 Nicole RAJICOVA SVK

 

Nicole Rajičová is a Slovak figure skater. She was born August 13, 1995 in Garden City, New York. By the age of five, Rajicova began taking figure skating lessons in Long Island from Milada Kubikova-Stastny, a former Olympian for Czechoslovakia. Early in her career, she competed as Nicole Rajic in U.S. regional and domestic events. She debuted internationally for Slovakia in December 2011 at the Golden Spin of Zagreb and began appearing in ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) events in autumn 2012. Her first senior ISU Championship was the European Championships in January 2014 in Budapest, Hungary where she finished 17th. In March, she competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia; she qualified for the free skate by placing 21st in the short program and finished 24th overall but missed qualifying for the free skate at the 2014 World Championships in Saitama, Japan. She finished 11th at the 2015 European Championships in Stockholm, Sweden and 15th in Shanghai, China at the 2015 World Championships. At the 2016 Europeans in Bratislava she placed 12th, and at the 2016 Worlds in Boston she placed 13th. She achieved her career-best continental result at the 2017 European Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic when she finished 6th overall. At Worlds that season she placed 17th.

 

She is a three-time Slovak national champion and has won five senior international medals.

11 Mariah BELL USA

 

 

 

Mariah Cheyenne Bell is an American figure skater, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 18, 1996. Her older sister has skated with Disney on Ice and she was the reason why Mariah started skating at the age of 4. She made her ISU Junior Grand Prix debut in 2013/14 season where she won a bronze medal in Mexico but finished 7th in Poland. After graduating from high-school in 2014, she moved to Monument, Colorado, so that she could train under Kori Ade. Her Grand Prix debut happened in 2015, where she finished 8th at 2015 Skate America. Last season she made another coaching change, joining Rafael Arutyunyan in Lakewood, California. In January 2017, Bell received the bronze medal at the U.S. Championships, earning her a spot on the Four Continents and World teams, where she placed 6th and 12th, respectively.

 

 

She is the 2016 Skate America silver medalist, 2016 CS U.S. International Classic silver medalist, 2016 CS Ondrej Nepela Memorial bronze medalist, and 2017 U.S. national bronze medalist.

12 Mirai NAGASU USA

 

 

Mirai Aileen Nagasu is an American figure skater, was born in Montebello, Los Angeles County, California on April 16, 1993. Her parents are both immigrants from Japan and are not US citizens and Mirai had dual citizenship until the age of 22. She started skating at the age of 5. In her very first season as a Junior she managed to win 2006 U.S. Figure Skating Championships for Juniors, ahead of the then reigning Junior Grand Prix Final champion. This qualified her for the Junior World Championship that year, where she won the silver medal. The very next season though she won the Senior Nationals, Nagasu did not meet the International Skating Union's age criteria to compete at the World Championships and had to miss out. In the 2008/09 season in her senior Grand Prix debut, Nagasu placed fifth at the 2008 Skate America. At the 2008 NHK Trophy, Nagasu finished in eighth place. In May 2009, Nagasu changed her coach to Frank Carroll. In the 2009/10 Olympics season she placed second at the US Nationals, which qualified her for the 2010 Olympic Games, where she placed just of the podium, fourth. During the 2013/14 season she placed third during the US Nationals. Although the United States was able to send a three-woman team to the ladies' singles figure skating event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, U.S. Figure Skating awarded the third position on the team to Wagner despite her fourth-place finish behind Nagasu, due to Wagner's stronger international competitive record. Last season she participated at the Four Continents Championships and finished 3rd.

 

She is a three-time Four Continentsmedalist (silver in 2016, bronze in 2011 and 2017), the 2007 JGP Final champion, a two-time World Junior medalist (silver in 2007, bronze in 2008), and a six-time U.S. national medalist (gold in 2008, silver in 2010, bronze in 2011 and 2014, pewter in 2016 and 2017).

 

In 2008, Nagasu became the youngest woman since Tara Lipinski in 1997 to win the U.S. senior ladies title, and the second youngest in history. She is the first lady since Joan Tozzer in 1937 and 1938 to win the junior and senior national titles in consecutive years.
