I have to say, when I envision his future, it seems more likely to me that he would follow Brian's path of being a technical coach/leading a skating program. And now Plushenko's path also.

 

Me too. I am only very much speculating but maybe, just maybe his pie-in-the-sky dream would be to lead Sendai's skating program and turn it into a powerhouse like Nagoya or Kansai.

 

But I think Sendai seems far too laid-back and classy to hurdle and lobby hard like those powerful powerhouses. Which is not a bad thing imo; Sendai can still become one of the major destinations for figure skating where skaters from all parts are welcomed. It doesn't have to hustle so hard just for a little bit of attention from the fed.

That's why the very thought of him becoming a coach gives me the heebie jeebies :crazy:. He seems to have too much empathy in his kind heart for this job.

I am glad that we have the analysis video to counter attack those in the FS world who do not care to do any research and dare say that "Hanyu's programs are empty". Now every time I see such stupid comments, I reply them with the video that Gladi, Fay and others did. I am so glad you guys did it.

:goe: When I watch Seimei and H&L back to back, H&L looks more complicated to me. What does everyone think? I still see statements like: Hanyu watered down the choreography/artistry to include another quad (same haters).

Did you expected anything else from them? I don't. :nah: Haters gonna hate. They only thing I would like to know is if anyone would ask them on what are those statements based, they would be able to give a competent technical explanation.

For sendai to be able to become a skating powerhouse it needs $$$, it is not necessarily about politics. Chukyo has collaboration with several company iirc, like toyota etc (kozuka is working there now if I am not wrong). So does Kansai Uni (recently I heard they have it with kinoshita group). From what I heard even until now sendai ice rink still face difficulty in financing themselves. Unless there is a rich corporation/company/mogul willing to pay/finance the skating programs, I doubt we will see it happening. It looks more feasible for waseda to be the one who open an adequate skating program than sendai, imo.

If Shizuka and Yuzuru wants it, they should be able to find sponsors for sendai Rink, I think. They're powerhouses, and the whole Sendai is very proud of them.

Both of them have helped or currently help the rink financially, so it wouldn't be that surprising, I think ?...

They can. But shizuka has won olympics in 2006 (r****d since then) and Yuzuru won it again in 2014. Yet despite being the home of 2 japanese OGM in skating, they still face financial difficulties regardless, and it does not seem like there is any significant major improvement in terms of the skating department there. I don't even know who the active coaches are from Sendai now. And aside of Shun sato, not sure if there is any promising skater that seems to have potential to be big in the next quads. So... I would not hold my breath?

Yuzu's technical knowledge looks great (judging from some of his interviews) and his jumps are amazing. If he could hand on it to others skaters, then Kansai and Nagoya would be in trouble :devil:

I was thinking about it few days ago, that Yuzuru could become good choreographer in future. But didn't know he has already had experience in choreographing and as I get it didn't work well.

Also I was thinking about future as a ISU tech.judge. He could be great in it. He's perfectionist in everything, and no one could go on with flutzs, PRs etc with Yuzuru at judging panel.

Yuzuru as a coach would be great too, especially for us, who always happy to see him.

 

But he's student right now and he could just move on with his profession behind FS.

 

Anyway, I wish him huge success in whatever he will chose as his way to move forward.

 

We have that saying in French that comes from a poem "avec des "Si", on mettrait Paris en bouteille which translates by With "if" Paris could be put in a bottle

And it shows how ridiculous people can get when letting their supposition go wild

The future of skating in Sendai is a question that has to wait a little longer. But if Yuzu ever asked directly, I imagine he could raise a great deal of money. Yuzu and Shizuka together have impeccable credentials. The monument ceremony was a nice first step to get people thinking. Personally, I am distressed by skating powerhouses teaching bad technique and badmouthing others. It's a shame and a waste. Let's see some reform!

 

Mitya, I also agree with you. Yuzuru can easily be successful in another career away from fs if he wants.

I think I remember him saying that he wanted to try other thing and that he was interested in other sports beside figure skating.

(And we can come back to Yuzu doin Kyudo, that would be pleasing to the eye)

Yuzu can be a coach in Sendai. He can build a skating school and crush those powerhouses who kinda treat him as an outsider. I think he has the chance to build Sendai to be a powerhouse considering how Sendai has had 2 OGMs.  

If he becomes a tech specialist, I don't think any federation wants to invite him :smile: Not even JSF would invite him bc well the biggest powerhouse there always have problems with UR jumps. He would probably become jobless right after his 1st job as a tech specialist  

 

But yeah no choreographer Yuzuru please, I'm sorry but he just sucks at it

He did one half-assed intro choreo for Team Japan at Marseille. I hardly think that's enough of a history to automatically call him a bad choreographer.  

 

I don't think he is very interested in choreographing, anyway.

Or maybe the monument ceremony is already a part of PR and marketing activities so that money can flow to the ice rink?

As for Yuzu, I think he'll be good at coaching like Brian Orser. Look also at the dance talent, who knows what he will choose? I think he would definitely be a great judge. Even jumps like Shoma would not be good scoring!

I was reading through the thread, and wasn't sure what cause the bemoaning of his choreographing skill? . So, thanks for the explanation. Anyone got links?
