I think as far as the gay issue goes in relationship to figure-skating, you should realize that the same dynamics in public perception also occur with men's gymnastics, men's diving, as also male dance and ballet, that is to those activities where the man is expected to do something 'beautiful'.  It's the trying to look beautiful that makes so many think of these activities as gay, since so many equate the qualities that make things beautiful and those that make things feminine as essentially the same.  Interestingly the bias does not seem to operate with men doing things in the other arts, such as writing, acting and music, only just in certain sports and dance.

Yuzu, as we all well know, achieves routinely the supreme heights of beauty that figure-skating can reach, thus his scores and medals, but to me his magic is that on the ice he is neither masculine nor feminine - he is just simply Human.  He shows us what human beings can achieve when they have the talent, the drive and the technique and apply all of them to creating a work of art.  I am sure that Yuzu is aware of speculation about his sexual orientation, as also Javi might realize there is speculation about him, thus I think it extremely courageous on the part of both of them that they were so unabashedly emotional at the end of the FS competition, when Yuzu realized he had the gold and Javi that at last he had an Olympic medal of any color.  Their embraces were those of two friends who had escorted each other through the four years of training and competition between Sochi and PC, both realizing through those years that the competition between them was athletic and not personal.

In any case I think it fortunate for Yuzu that he is at TCC since Brian and his people are well able to handle the attempts to intrude on Yuzu's private life.  Zhenya and Boyang are now also able to avail themselves of TCC's skill at controlling access to its athletes.  It is probably the knowledge of how TCC manages access to its trainees that contributed to the Russian and Chinese authorities' willingness to let these two star athletes train outside their native lands.  They see that Zhenya and Boyang are in capable hands.

Absolutely. It's also helpful to the Russian and Chinese authorities to see how two of the top skaters in the world -- competitors from different countries, no less -- have been so well nurtured at TCC they can embrace each other joyfully and yet still put their "murder faces" on and have at it. The Chinese also already know that Yuzu and Boyang get along like two peas in a pod, so they can easily have the same kind of competitive camaraderie.  Zhenya will probably also work out, since her main complaint was that she had no creative control, combined with her coach favoring younger skaters with better music, better choreo, and more attention.  If she has creative control -- the way TCC gives all their skaters -- I think she will finally be happy.

I'm amazed with Yuzu's fearlessness. I'm not sure if Order asked him about having Boyang Jin in TCC but to have a rival on the ice with you...

Javi is one amazing person 💖 and now there's Yuzu 💖💖💖

Yuzu's been coveting Boyang's 4Lz for an age and a half and I'm almost certain BOrser would have cleared it with all the skaters before taking on new charges especially with Yuzu if it's Boyang. I'm so excited about how they'll mutually challenge and push each other ( :

He and Javi are textbook examples of how, when it's the right people, it can lift both of them to heights they might never have reached without their partnership - and how, when it's the right people, it can show the whole sport what really great sportsmanship is about (for me, the two of them set the tone that has made the recent top flight of men such a lovely, respectful, friendly and yet still fiercely competitive group).

And of all of the top flight, Boyang is the one I think would be the best match for Yuzu after Javi... I love them both dearly and am thrilled at what it could do for both of them, especially Boyang.

Yuzu's always making sure that people know it's Boyang who gave the impetus for the quad race and to him personally. I can't wait to see how they and other TCC skaters will evolve this coming season

Yeah, I was crying buckets when Yuzu exclaimed that he wouldn't have been able to do it without Javi. They're so competitive especially Yuzuru but still they can be magnanimous and the sportsmanship is genuine. I agree with you that with them being on the top they set the tone for the younger skaters. In their interviews, no shading or backhanded compliments whatsoever about other skaters.

I hope Boyang finally gets a Pooh from Yuzu!!!
