he was actually perfect in SP of Worlds 16 and that reflected his perfect shape... I think he was a bit over-confident/carefree to miss the FS, it can't be helped he was on an unbeatable streak that year too, it wasn't until the FS that he realized skating clean shouldn't be taken for granted. Idk if he learned, but I do hope his SP this time shouldn't be TOO GOOD so he can stay grounded for the FS.

He wasn't in perfect shape. Far from it. Both physically and mentally. If that performance reflected anything it's his iron will and ironheadedness. Which unfortunately didn't last long enough to carry him through the FS. But it's amazing enough that it did for the SP so that was likely the best outcome we could've gotten from that whole scenario. He's admitted to overconfidence being a character flaw and it probably did play a role to what happened that day, but not in the way you seem to be thinking.

He did, however, claim that he was in perfect mental and physical shape for the WC17 short but then it didn't reflect as well as he hoped in his performance. By the time of his FS, he was so fatigued mentally and physically his body was pretty much on autopilot. But look what happened. So he's since learned that not being in perfect shape doesn't mean he can't deliver, and that being in a perfect one doesn't absolutely mean he can. What conclusion he's been able to draw from learning these two lessons is anyone's guess.

Speaking of his blazer...is this something he had remaining from the last Olys? Though if he carries this on enough, maybe he can start a trend of "moe dress shirt sleeves" as part of a casual blazer ensemble.

Were the shirt sleeves too long, tho? I thought they were fine. Something happened with the blazer tho. Did they appear that much shorter than the shirt sleeves in the catalog they released?

1) He's confident but I don't think he's that cocky on his technical ability. If anything, I think he might be considered a tad cocky on how much he trusts his sheer force of will to just carry him through. Otherwise, I don't think his confidence is really "cocky" per se.

2) I don't know...haven't checked. But if he stops tugging at at his sleeves, he could totally try to pull the blazer sleeves shorter than shirts sleeves thing as a new fashion trend. Just saunter and sass it off.

Is that 6 bodyguards? Geesh!

Better be safe than sorry:laughing:.

I do not know what I expected, how his arrival would be...but somehow it seemed perfectly normal to me, bodyguards and all... Great as it should be:laughing:

Probably my frame of reference is a little bit distorted when it comes to Yuzuru Hanyu and these Olympics:laughing::laughing:.

But I am somehow relieved about security being there.

Olympic fever. One never knows..

Uh...I didn't say he was though? Cocky, I mean. But it was certainly implied by the person I was replying to.

Just now catching up on nearly 100 pages, lol.  I'm glad that Yuzu's here and looks good.  And yes, it's only about 2 hours from Seoul Station to Gangneung with KTX.  I am curious where Yuzu will be staying.  Shoma was on our train after the team event men's SP and he seemed to be staying in Seoul because he got off there with us.

I need to upload more photos here and I will, but I'm also putting a little more stuff on my instagram so feel free to check out there:

Need to pull from my facebook too where I'm doing a bunch of photo dumping.

@kiches and I have been interviewed by TV Tokyo and they plan to do more during the team event, so please keep your eyes peeled if you guys see us! Curious what makes the cut.

After the Team Free I am headed to Japan for a couple days! Can't wait!

Really we made 100 pages here today? :smiley-laughing021: that's amazing lol

I never mean he was cocky??? I just mean his behavior pattern in skating is spontaneous and affected by the very moment so there's a lot up and down thru out his perfs, his mentality might be overconfident/carefree suddenly if the result makes him feel too secure. "stability" or "security" is never what motivates him so it's actually easier for him if he could go from average to good rather than the way round.

:thanks: One answer received, now on to who decided on them escorting Yuzu, unless they went "OMG It's the def. World and Oly Champ for which a mob of media is waiting outside PROTEKT" by themselves (doubtful but amusing thought none the less :D)

He's not the only def champion and reigning world champion to be rolling into the Olys tho. He is, however, probably the only one who invokes a very fervent kind of involuntary passion in both fans and media alike so.

It's an amusing sight tho, to see him flanked like that. Reminds me of those security dudes who transport and transfer cash into ATMs. Which isn't so far off from the mark when it comes to him, I guess. >_< When the IOC sees him, they prolly see ka-ching!

Didn't you? Guess I was misled cos you said he was in perfect condition in that event even though it has been revealed since that he couldn't be further away from it. And that kind of confidence you mentioned was likely not the kind he felt going into his FS. Something like what @Xen said is probably closer to the mark, based on the little he revealed in that half-hour interview the day after. As in, he probably took it for granted that just because he has the will, that there's always a way. Or that his will could always overcome a severe injury that only became more severe over time because he imposed too much will over it. Now unless he's some kind of yogi who could go into a trance whenever he wants to,  at some point, his physical limits are going to overcome his mental strength. He needed to learn to reconcile the two so that one doesn't completely overshadow the needs of the other. There needs to be a balance, just like the one we see in his skating.
