'Recently, he has been training at 2 or 3 AM'... Yuzu...I wonder if he owns the rink so he can just go at strange timings. Or if ice rink manager-san has to stay up with him too :O

I believe he has the key to the rink.

PS: Someone pointed out that 2 - 3 AM in Japan is 1 - 2 PM in Canada. Purely speculation on my side but maybe he does so so that he can have some time with his coach remotely? If that's not the case, well, he is used to training at mid-night already.

Yuzu made a lot of donations for the reconstruction of his childhood ice rink : after Sochi and 2018 (and between I think) and he is "maybe"? shareholder for this time of night privilege : is - t he alone when he skates?

I think so for the key and for the schedules, yes it coincides with Canada (Brian and Ghislain can  not be at night, since the TCC is a private club) : all this is plausible in fact  :knc_brian2:       :knc_tracy2:    and as Yuzu is VERY combative, all schedules suit him .......

Yes, Is purely speculation on your side. I think not to believe Yuzu's words is disrespectful. He works so hard on his own, and some people want to share his efforts with those who now have nothing to do with them.

Oh boy, your hate for TCC and Brian is real, huh? I wish you would pop up and comment on other topics once in a while and not just show up to voice your distaste for Yuzu's contractual training team. But hey-ho, I probably just took the bait and here I am, replying to someone I feel like has the attitude of an internet troll.

Whether we are haters or lovers, let's not not assume, let's not take our own views as facts, let's not take little snippets of comments made by Yuzu as him revealing the whole picture - doing so does not mean disrespect towards what he is saying. It just shows that we are conscious of his privacy as an athlete. At the end of the day, we know that Yuzu doesn't reveal anything about himself. Why would he feel the need to talk openly and provide an essay about his approach to training nowadays - regardless of whether TCC is part of it or not? No one, no one but the people involved know for sure what is and what is not and we have no say in it - none of our business. We know nothing at all.

No one is saying that his success despite training alone or remotely this year is all thanks to TCC. For a lot of people, especially the ones who had some sort of experience in competitive sports, it's just hard to believe that an athlete can do without coaching once in a while - doesn't matter how good they are and that is ok. While it is possible that Yuzu is doing everything himself (which would be ok as well), we shouldn't discard the possibility either of him getting sometimes assistance from TCC which is something that you seem to be doing.

We know? You may be, but don't speak for everyone please. Yuzu has said many times that he decides everything himself and trains by himself, that he is not interested in remote training. Can Yuzu be counted as one of those who involved and who know for sure what is and what is not

So Yuzu is lying when he says he's training on his own without anyone's help. And Orser is lying about not knowing about Yuzu's plans. So why are they hiding the truth?
I think the answer is obvious. It's hard for someone to accept the fact that Yuzu is doing fine on his own and progressing. It ruins someone's fictional world in which Yuzu is incapable of conquering 4A without the help of former coaches. Those who made it up don't even know that Yuzu is unable to train earlier than midnight due to the home rink's schedule. In their fantasies, Yuzu has been training at night for over a year solely to get remote help from Orser, lol. They stopped believing in Yuzu when they found out he has no plans to return to Canada. It's still here Planet Hanyu? Or maybe it's Planet Cricket? Or Planet Orser?

Well, I'm really sorry for Massimiliano Ambesi. How disappointed he must be. And I'm really sorry for Yuzuru Hanyu. I hope he doesn't read what's written here.

He might not own it but he paid for a sizeable chunk of it with donations over the years. My guess is, they'll happily give him whatever he wants there.

His body is probably trained to that and messing with it might cause issues. Having a solid, routine schedule is a big part of athletic success

I'm so not used to getting this much content from Yuzu in offseason for so many days, it feels kinda overhelming but also YES I'll enjoY it while it lasts:laughing: like a cactus storing water away to surive the dry season...

Zuzu looks very soft and floofy in that bucolic photoshoot and CM <3

also slighty awkward (in some moments his toothy smile is not as crinkly as his usual toothy smiles are LOL idk if that makes sense, but he's still cute and it happens only at times during the CM. It just shows that if he ever wanted to get into modelling or acting he'd have some work to do:P but hey, excellent starting material:67638860:)

The CM really makes feel you good and relaxed and in harmony with nature :img_21::67573730: and apparently he uses a product! Gotta change that into the glossary:surprised:

New documentary on its way...wanna bet on how much actual new content we'll get?

  • updates on MonHun
  • Zu with cute kids
  • Zu trolling Mura, maybe? :68468287: I mean if Mura really asked Yuzu how he felt and Zuzu replied with MonHun... :10814716: It warms my heart that he has this kind of relationships, these days he's usually the senpai that younger skaters are in awe of..while with Mura or Keiji who've known him from earlier he can just behave as the annoying younger brother he is at his heart his usual self
  • update on progresses on DNA choreo or maybe he's got into another song (I see many mention Black Swan, but I'd actually rather him get into Not Today because it would fit perfectly well in his pre-comp agressively lypsyncing ritual)

re: Brian's text to Hersh

as usual he could have bitten his tongue and shown he's grown wiser in handling media but alas. Though maybe the following text was Brian trying to do damage control after his own first text...

From Yuzuru's words about not going back to Canada translated in the DOI thread, it sounded like his choice is mostly due to ongoing difficulties in travelling + the fact that training on his own isn't a new experience anymore, but something that has already given good results (even if with some bumps in the road, like the earlier period in autumn).

With his GP schedule, his choice is certainly both sensible and unsurprising. Additionally, he can also have all the ice for himself to train Nessie for however long he wants, instead of having to share his 1 or 2h practice with other skaters and their RTs.

Plus, if he's getting vaccinated according to JSF schedule, he needs to stay in Japan to get both first and second dose, making going back and forth from Canada even harder (plus travel in itself is still risky).

And who knows, Yuzuru might have other committments with sponsors, and maybe even Olympics.

The interview with Rikako Ikee, who's became one of the symbols of these games, kinda makes me think that they might have also organized more... With the way the Games have been pushed and handled, I'm glad that thus far he's kept a low profile, only collaborating in a few meaningful initiatives like this interview with Rikako and the paralympics videogame project.... but we'll see.

Since Yuzu is going to stay in Japan for a while, I hope that Yuzuru will spend more time seeing the sun.:tumblr_inline_mg16f1RxCn1qdlkyg:

Does ice rink Sendai stay open to the audience till 1am, to have him train as late as 2am?:tumblr_inline_n2pjd1FzUP1qdlkyg:

From Yuzuru's words in other occasions, it feels that his communication with TCC, and also his choreographers, was more done exchanging mails back and forth, rather than through live sessions (and for sure I hope that, if any live session actually happen, it can be arranged at a mutually acceptable hour...)

well, officially Brian&co still figure as his coaches, and Yuzuru has specifically thanked them post WC, so at least till that point they were collaborating in some measure.

the rest under spoiler for who'd rather skip

Spoiler

True, Yuzuru trained on his own for the most time (and anyway all the choices concerning is training were taken by him and him alone, as it's been for a long time) and personally I wouldn't be surprised if he chose to officially part ways with them.

But there's really no need to be so bitter towards whole TCC or towards fans wondering about what kind of arrangement they have, if it works more along the lines of

"Hi, yearly update, I'm still alive and I'm gonna compete in xxx place, please come, I want you rinkside"

 or something more substantial like

"latest footage of my sit spin, please ask Paige if it's good enough! I counted rotations and it looks so to me, but she's the expert. To Ghislain: 4A still not quite there, but I'm improving on the height! and added steps, yay! My 3A sometimes gets wonky because I forget it isn't a quad, any tips not to faceplant myself? To Tracy: her new exercise is so hard! Also Brian remember NOT to talk to Hersh and please ask Jeff to check his emails."

Right now we don't really know which one of the two is closer to reality.

Also, some people would indeed prefer him to go back training in TCC (a place where he wouldn't need to skate at 2am and that also offers useful facilities for off ice training and physiotherapy. And Ghislain, who is still a jump specialist whose work with other skaters, even less gifted that Yuzu, showed he is a capable professional), but, it doesn't mean they undervalue what he's been doing this past season.

Why would be hard to accept tha Yuzu is doing fine on his own? Many are relieved that he's been doing so well (especially sicnce many accomplished atheltes have failed when left to their own devices). But since Yuzu himself said how hard it was to train alone, some people might prefer him not facing again that kind of additional hardship (even if it helped him grow). Plus they might be worried whether he's getting the proper physio form a professional (though that was robably more related to covid, so hopefully by now he's receiving that kind of help again)

Sure, there are the TTC bestest happy family fans, but not all the wishing and wondering form fans stems from that.

It's perfectly reasonable to think that even an experienced athlete as Yuzuru might benefit from a coach, even just for a second opinion. Yuzu himself said it's hard to assess some things objectively (in the video form JNats where he comments his own FS).

IMO, from both Yuzuru's interviews and what Brian has been saying, the contribute TCC has been giving Yuzuru for a few seasons now is exactly that: a second opinion, from people knowledgeable about the sport.

During this past season, I'm sure Yuzuru has been able to get second opinions by whoever in his family has been watching over his practices (he's mentioned several times that he discusses his training with his mother), but that doesn't mean that a jump specialist or spins specialist or ss specialist can't give some additional useful insights.  Which, as far as we know, he did get at some point.

and re: Ambesi, what business does he has in being disappointed with what some fans say in a fanforum? Even if he inspired the name 4years ago, this forum isn't his personal page. And the man has his own flaws, too, so some people don't even care about the possibility of him being disappointed...

as for Yuzu, as I always say when people pull the card "think about Yuzu!" for things that IMO are not quite black&white: well, fans have their own mind and some are gonna have takes he won't like, as simple as that. Since he's seen much worse stuff than a bunch of nobodies underestimating his own role in his training, this particular misjudgement of his training situation is probably not that high on his "this makes me sad" list)

Zuzu looks very sweet and floofy in this bucolic, CM photoshoot <3

Over the past season, I'm sure Yuzuru was able to get a second opinion from anyone in his family who was monitoring his practices (he mentioned on several occasions that he was discussing his training with his mom), but this does not mean that a vault specialist, rotation specialist or ss specialist can not provide additional useful information . That, for all we know, he has got a point.

and re: Ambesi, what's got to be disappointed with what some fans are saying in a fanforum? Even though he inspired the name 4 years ago, this forum is not his personal page. And man has his own flaws too, so some people don't even care that he might be disappointed ...

Compared to the physiotherapist, we have not seen Kikuchi san since a national of Japan 2020 : is it because of COVID? Because for a long time, we saw him at  all competitions and gave him  real help, both physical and mental and he has known Yuzu since he was 8 years old.
