General Yuzuru Chat

Recommended Posts

I didn't know that June 21st is the day of snacks.

Yuzuru (maybe in his teens) is holding a snack named ばかうけ (bakauke), long seller snack in Japan.

The name sounds a bit funny (meaning ridiculously good reception; being extremely well-received).

My online dictionary is struggling to translate it :smiley-laughing021:

Yes! I just sent it to my friend the other day! https://www.instagram.com/p/CPqEnh_o__j/?utm_medium=copy_link

He looked like he wanted to take photos with her

I know that this is trite, but this is another example that Yuzu has not just been physically cute-handsome, but he has always had that indefinable “it” factor consisting of, amongst a host of other things, charm, charisma and poise. People are just helplessly attracted to him like iron filings to a mega magnet.

This is a short fan cam video of Yuzu in July 2012 at Prince Ice World shortly before or after the ponytail pulling clip. He had already won the bronze medal at Worlds in Nice in April and had already made the move to Brian and the Cricket Club in May. He was already extremely popular in Japan, but not the supernova that he would subsequently become so that he was still able to personally greet his fans.

Isn’t “bakauke” a compound word made by joining “baka” meaning “fool” (“stupid”, “idiot”, etc.) and “uke” (“received”)? I understand from my wife who is Japanese that the compound word can be interpreted as equivalent to the English phrase “crazy popular”  (as in "senselessly popular") which may be a more colloquial way of saying “extremely well received”.

Apparently Kao said that his (f)lutz is currently in bad condition [next season is solo flip season, so he needs lutz combo] so he wants to ask Zu some advise at DoI, because Zu's lutz is beautiful [duh].

Better prepare yourself for random 4lz attempts.

According to Q3 of the Q&A section of the maker's website, Baka means wonderfully or greatly in Niigata dialect. I think it is now commonly used in other areas too as the meaning of "crazy popular." But as you say, most Japanese also receive it as the meaning of "stupid" or "idiot", and it sounds something funny to us, especially when it is with crazy cute Yuzu

And what's funnier is that the package says 大阪限定 Osaka Gentei (limited sales in Osaka) and it seems to be Okonomiyaki taste :happy0007:

Even Bakauke looks cute when it is held by Yuzu :tumblr_inline_n2pje2TPZt1qdlkyg:

I won't be surprised if Yuzu gives advice on the Lutz before Kao asks, like how he gave advice on acne after Kao asking on Twitter. :rofl3:We know he lurks.

Quick question: Does anyone know the Japanese title, publisher, number of pages and ISBN of the Continues With Wings Treasured Edition Book?

I'd like to use this page as reference, but couldn't find the information of the original source:

Thank you very much!

Is it this book?

Because I don't see an ISBN or publisher or anything anywhere on the physical book. It almost feels more like a pamphlet than a book.

To be honest, I'm not sure, but probably yes. I only have the screenshot of the page linked in my post.

On the homepage continueswithwings.com there are some goods listed, but I don't know in which one this page is included.

EDIT:

I wonder how to cite this pamphlet best (or whatever it is). I used the following citation form:

「Continues ~with Wings~」愛蔵版ブック (Treasured Edition). Continues with Wings (in Japanese). April 16, 2018.

I'm not sure, if that's enough, but I'll leave it at that for now, until there is a better solution.
