That is exactly what I meant. The award itself in not important. What is important is what they are using it for, building a narrative around N.C. to make him the undisputed favourite for the Olympics. They are basically building him up to be bigger than he really is just like they built up his PCs. Both are artificial and unbelievable, but also both will be used by the media and fans to defend any controversial results.

Agree. it is also possible for them to give Yuzu the MVS award. Then give the MVS to NC next season, if they are planning to do this award again. Just to really build up the narrative. Considering that the upcoming season a pre-olympic season too. But yeah, this skating award is truly a farce and we should not give them the clicks and clout.

Is anyone able to translate the Latino statement please?

Tweet:

"We are a few days away from the infamous Awards, so we request to join the initiative of NOT SEIING IT, commenting on it, sharing it etc.

Let's not be part of the lack of respect towards fans and especially our favourite skater."

Statement:

"As fans of figure skating, we hope that this great sport is recognised and reaches more people as a fair and beautiful discipline.
The only award that skaters deserve is a fair trial in the competition without bias and favoritism.
In recent years, this sport has been tainted by the incompetence, bad faith and preferences of the institution, which are far from the main values and good performance of skaters.
Seeing the lack of respect towards athletes, fans and other people who love figure skating, we appeal to your personal criteria and suggest not to watch the Awards broadcast and not share anything related to it.

Let's recognise and honour all skaters, that's the best prize for them!"

Thanks for that . Assumed it was a similar narrative to the statements other fan groups had put out. 👍

On that topic :peekapooh:

Pretty soon, Yuzu will be able to found his own international figure skating federation with more sponsors and far more supporters than the ISU. :pouty: Sponsors know where the money lies. They also know who brings in the fans and their money.

Just imagine this, an international federation just for figure skating that promotes and supports the sport as well as athletes equally. A figure skating federation that has absolute integrity, fairness, accountability and transparency as its fundamental principles. What a dream come true!

Should he be able to do this (and why not if there is still no hope about ISU; after all, Krystian Zimerman, who is not a dominant character, has set up a purpose-fit special symphonic orchestra he conducted himself, just because in spite of all his experiences with many conductors, some really great, none had done justice to Chopin's orchestration in his two piano concertos, and Chopin remained unjustly seen as a great piano composer but a poor orchestrator; a project of 20 years though, released in 1998),  it could not be during his time as a competitive athlete, both for lack of time and conflict of interest. I think he has a great capacity at assessing people's capacities, much beyond what most of us could imagine he may get from a common acquaintance. And he is a born leader.
