Too bad about Misha, I really hope he'll be able to find his footing this season :tumblr_inline_n2pje3s3EO1qdlkyg: It seems things have been hard for him recently in terms of competing - although hopefully his non-skating life is enjoyable at least, what with the surprise marriage and all.

Hyped about Trusova and Kaori! In the men's comp, I'm looking forward to seeing Rizzo and Deniss.

A lot of names I don't recognise at all here. I googled Sumoto and it seems he got JGP bronze last year (I didn't have time to follow the JGP at all last year so out of the loop there..), so hopefully he'll do well in seniors as well. Also, his Wikipedia page states that "His figure skating idol is Yuzuru Hanyu", so hopefully he's absorbed some good influences :tumblr_inline_n18qrbDQJn1qid2nw:

//Wait a minute! I read Sumoto's Wiki page a bit more carefully and it also has this bit: "Sumoto revealed that he had injured his ankle mid-February during training, and competed while taking painkillers". No, that's not the influences I was hoping for :13877886:bad senpai!

can skating gods stop cursing Misha with health problems please?

also, Sasha's at this competition? yess, she's my favorite of the ascending former russian juniors. I don't care if she has the worst skating skills and musicality of the three, she's just so badass haha

I'm really glad that it seems her coaches aren't trying to force her into a waifish mold but are instead encouraging her to develop more muscles and just be as powerfully athletic as she wants to be. In recent pics, the muscles in her back/shoulder area are amazing for someone her age and size. I think it's great to have someone like that in the Russian field. There are so many princesses, and while there's nothing wrong with that, it's good to have someone wearing jumpsuits and just aggressively attacking quads. Not that she should be striving to be anyone's role model but just herself.

I have a funny story about him when I was at JGP Slovakia last year. I had my CiONTU bag with me and when Mitsuki noticed it he basically pulled back Yoshiko Kobayashi who was also there with him but was already walking away, and he said something to her - I didn't understand it but it was probably something like 'looook, a CiONTU bag!'. His eyes were sparkling of joy :tumblr_inline_mqt4grU8ua1qz4rgp: He's a big fan of Yuzu!

Now I like Mitsuki even more. I hope he does well here. With Brendan and Mikhail WD, the podium got a little closer. But he's still facing Matteo, Deniss, Dmitri and Alexander.

Nicole Rajicova has withdrawn from the competition too. She doesn't live in Slovakia currently because her company sent her to abroad for a longer period and she'll train there until Europeans (the article didn't specify which country she lives in now).

Tell me about it.  I was jumping about threads all over the place.  Need a calmer week. :studsmatta:
