  1. This is a photoshoot for AERA, is not “his” choice of clothings (japanese CMs also rarely are) 😅 It look so good, finally a professional photoshoot, be missing one of these!
  2. Reminder that this next weekend we will have Yuzu extra footage: edit: oh, an ad for the program? How nice This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  3. I hope Yuzu sees this, gamer that he is hehe Famitsu, a gaming entertainment / news site gave him a shout out, remembering that he talked about this particular game that they are celebrating the 35th anniversary of: Here LGeorgin provided the interview excerpt where he mentions the game: 8-bit gaming This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  4. Yes and yes. Unfortunately this has been true for most of this sport's existence, but the refusal in reforming and evolving with the public's attention is truly something else. Before 14 Sochi we had stuff like 02 Salt Lake City, changes have always been cosmetic and the core of the whole institution remained the same. And everyone have always been quite complicit about it, fs media, fs commentary, fs audience... is a loop. To think that Yuzu contemplated retirement since his triumph in 2018 and still chose to better himself, then to pursue his dream jump while being shown the door, fully aware he was not being rewarded by his efforts, and still kept pushing and pushing, not compromising. I don't know how he did it. A few of my favorite athletes ever (all skaters) have to be put through this during their careers and I never blamed anyone for realizing it and walking out. Yuzu did not, he kept going through it for the sake of his last goal till he shifted his perspective on how he wanted to achieved it. The mental fortitude he has shown to possess and the way he conducted himself this last quad is nothing short of inspiring, in the most unfortunate of circumstances. Even when bowing out he manages to do it quite wisely, reaffirming that his value and identity is not dictated by the same people who have been trying to erode it. Is genuinely amazing that Yuzu made his choice to leave competition at his peak with his love for skating intact. The future looks quite positive, I really hope this latest batch of interviews help most of us to move forward with him. Can't thank our translators enough for all the attention and work they have put in communicating his words appropriately to us
  5. This acc gathered Yuzu’s appearances for the month of August, just to illustrate how packed it has been 8/7 - Official Youtube Channel opening 8/9 - Second video upload 8/10 - SharePractice live streaming 8/16 - 24-hour TV recording 8/26 - Sekkisei Message (for men) 8/28 - 'I'm off to Osaka' on ANA plane CM 8/27 - 24-hour TV broadcast 8/28 - Performance and add content uploaded 8/30 - Phiten factory visit 8/31 - Sekkisei Miyabi He has been incredibly busy! Not counted here are the back to back interviews he did right after SharePractice and of course the planning and recording for most of this.
  6. One of my favorite things is listening or reading on what people from different fields say about Yuzu, the impact he has had in general is quite remarkable. Sweetyuzu generously translated another article today: Really enjoyed this one This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  7. I'm so glad a lot of us are feeling the proper closure of this chapter right now. For some reason I thought watching the whole thing would open some wounds but it did the exact opposite. I was maybe more fine than most with this retirement and tremendously excited when he opened his youtube channel, but having all the proper words out there in the same day of "rondo's redemption" really shifted something. I especially appreciate the care and work of the AWW team in putting out his words in a few specific questions; the one at 9:30ish minute in the video, on "what is the reason you decided to retire from competition and are you sad about it?", the one at 13:18ish, on "what made you reach this decision (and are you out of all comps)?" and the one at around 24:30ish "(...) what was the deciding factor for you in reaching this decision?". They sound a little repetitive but Yuzu answered all very thoroughly, in my opinion, and I think some questions the fans have had for the past month could be put to rest with these. We now know, for example, he though about his decision / made the decision while in rehab post-Beijing and spent FaOI processing it. We now know he himself changed his mind about landing the 4A in competition - he literally implies that, that he changed his mind about it (so while he gave interviews during FaOI he was in a different mindset already). We know that being accessible is his biggest priority together with bettering himself (the youtube channel already proved it, but is funny seeing the implication of it right there). The 4A was indeed his main motivation for continuing after 4CC in 2020 ("the gold he still didn't have"), and he has though about retiring at every comp since Pyeongchang. I appreciate that he really took control over his own narrative and journey and decision in all of this, which is why I don't think alluding he was "left without choice" is a fair assessment of his decision anymore. I also love the answer he gives to the question "(...) is there anything (particular to you) that made you come this far?" at 16:20ish. I could go on and on about this presscon, but that's boring ______________________ Yuzu's channel at 700k subscribers is a thing of celebration! Road to that gold button now (1m subs)! Can't wait for his next project, I see that even japanese media posting videos of FaOI or his performance at 24hTV is a great sign of how accessible his next endeavours will be
  8. Full presscon subbed by our wonderful axelwithwings team: Full video here: https://axelwithwings.com/2022/07/19/eng-sub-yuzuru-hanyu-press-conference-決意表明-20220719/ Is an hour and 7 minutes video, with transcript and english subs. I watched half way through, lots of things on my mind here. For everyone: he answers the question “when did you decide to retire?”. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

  10. Updated schedule: This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  11. @Sun_Rise posted this on twitter, and I’m sharing here too: Yuzu’s segment starts at 8pm JST, he can perform anywhere between then and 9pm! This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  12. SharePractice reached 3 million views! Yuzu’s second video is still at 1.7m at the time I post this, it would be great to see it reaching those numbers as well since it looks like how a lot of his content will be~ Also: Special edition of K&C, there will probably be a special cover / limited edition, and pics of both FaOI and SharePractice! [NEWS]
  13. Nishiyama is a current ice dancer who has trained with Yuzu at TCC, and here sweetyuzu kindly translated what he says in this article. For those who don’t know, he went to train at TCC to be a singles skater, but a hip injury made him switch disciplines (not sure if he talks about the whole “changing mindset” process in this article). I really liked this article, hopefully his efforts will be paid. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  14. Take most things Noguchi says with a gigantic grain of salt. How... interesting. That she is writing this type of stuff now. She also wrote that the 4Lo is quite hard (I mean, yes, there's a whole discussion about edge quads and their perception on scoring). Hm. It reminds me of what Marika said earlier: There has been an uptick on media coverage about Yuzu this summer. Older fans can attest, I really don't remember this much "official" attention in years, feels very Pyeongchang. His team appears to be doing a very good work of it. May the 2020 type of drought be truly a rare exception, and may Yuzu pace himself so he can continue delivering content in his own terms and time and injury-free~ Also, confirmation of what people have said here already: This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  15. marika translated it in full: [NEWS]
  16. more summaries / translations from sweetyuzu (doing God's work!) from here: Huge thanks to this acc on twitter! There are so many articles coming out now, I think more than 10 interviews, and I got a hold of some but oof... thank you so much for these translators!! Yuzu making sure to emphasise he is taking this journey step by step, although media enjoys big mapped plans for no reason. Good to see how he regards himself now. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  17. sweetyuzu made a little summary of what they liked on this interview: Of course jmedia already asking about the far future LOL oh boy, what is pressure... His take on his life as a professional skater is so interesting, when he was asked about Shohei's 10 HMR record he mentioned "now that we are in the same stage, as professionals..."; it clicked on my brain how different he is seeing his new journey now. The possibilities are endless, I'm so excited.
  18. Probably means he is just devoted to the performance, not really paying too much mind to the image he performs to the media, more or less. I'm now just patiently waiting for the proper translators to get a hold of most of this article, I've seen already some posts on his words about his current favorite program but not this meatier stuff; when he talks too much like this is always better to compare translations and not trust 100% in a non native speaker like myself LOL
  19. I just mentioned Hochi before, and here is Takagi-san sharing a 5 minute interview with Yuzu: edit: this is from the article before: edit3: you guys take this with a sizeable pound of salt, and cross-examine it with any other translations floating around! Here it is, full japanese transcript: The translation: I will take a page out of @birnasan and ask for no one to post this outside of the forum. The take away from this interview is very nice, he appears to have been processing his decision during FaOI, his favorite program right now is Tenchi, and he has plans for the end of the year. [NEWS]
  20. More translations, Yuzu’s interview: [NEWS]
  21. Oho! [NEWS] Is this the first media outlet who call one of his plans an ice show? Because so far all the quotes from him have indicated “plans”, but I guess Hochi already saying what could possibly been happening…
  22. i think he meant livestream sessions in 6 months, not normal video content hehe This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  23. He said KUSOU JIYUUNA like twice LLOLL It wasn’t Yuzu my heart was pounding during your third Seimei rundown
