  1. Merhaba! Bu konuyla daha derinden ilgilenmedim ama bende gitmeyi düşünüyorum, belki yardımcı olabilirim. Sorun nedir?
  2. Oh I‘ve been doing that for a while, also doing lots of prep with my waltz jumps Well this is how they‘ve been looking lol. Not tight enough and landed forward but could be worse
  3. I just want to add that the first session on sharpened blades (after 5 months of no sharpening) I realized I wasn't actually regressing and that I am not such a terrible skater after all. my jumps got better, my turns got better, everything was good in the world. (Now I would love to get them sharpened once a week but good thing I am lazy.) Also have I mentioned I am working on axels because I have no fear and don't love my body enough?

Hi! We didn’t actually have bandwidth issues but it turned out to be a small mistake that led to our database to be currupted which put the whole site down. We haven’t actually had any bandwidth issues ever since we switched to our current server plan and we have more than a year left on it. :) Really, don’t worry about it! There is no obligation to donate. What we’re collecting now is for the future when it’s time to renew our server plan. Thank you a lot for your contributions so far!
  6. Yes, skates are quite a commitment and as an adult skater my recommendation is not to loose any time with lower level skates and be ready to invest 300 eur/usd (?) and upwards (probably more.) My first skates were half that price but also only really served me for 2-3 months, the rest of the time was pain and torture and then injury and more pain. Rentals are usually ok to measure if you’re ready to commit? But they are nothing like a good pair of figure skating skates and can be a waste of time So if you know you want to go for it, go all in. That‘ll save you money and time in the long run!

  9. ooooh be careful with off ice spinning. I used to do it in my cramped room all the time which resulted in many painful encounters with my furniture... Well. I figured there’s a lot of factors playing into it. Sore muscles, how long the session is, ice condition, degree of sharpness of blades, what socks I am wearing, my overall mood and also my attitude and expectations of myself. When I start learning something I am more forgiving of myself and accept that not every attempt is going to be successful... but that changes very quickly for me and my patience gets thinner. I think it’s a matter of perception. As in, maybe your success rate of 3turns wasn’t better a few sessions back but because it was still a new element you felt that any success was a lot more significant and now you expect more of yourself so just getting a 3turn done doesn’t feel all that special anymore? It may influence the way you define “successful” 3turn but also may make you feel like you used to be able to do more of them. Also re. patience: sometimes I just have to warm up to an element first. So when I am first learning something i give myself that time. But say I ended last session with a bunch of landed Lzs. During the next session I feel like that’s where I need to pick up and don’t give myself enough time to warm and start despairing too early on. I judge the success of a session too early on which ruins my mood and really turns the session into a bad one. I’ve been trying to remind myself of this but it’s not always easy. Maybe I should start journaling. With numbers and success rates... and how many attempts it took me to get a first successful element. But who has the time lol...
  10. I finally managed to get some height on my flips and clean up my technique a bit and I managed to get a clear outside edge on my lutzes soooo now I am scared to skate again because I feel like I can’t recreate that next time. Lol skating is giving me trust issues bc 1-2 good skates are usually followed by weeks of bad skates? I am nervous as I have been having too many good skates lately. I had a bad skate this tuesday and thought, well, I had a good run, the long due slump is here. But then yesterday’s skate was good again and it’s making me nervous to skate bc I am expecting the slump to creep back any time.... I don’t trust this peace....
  11. His kick through is amazing! It gives him such a delay. It looks like he doesn't really start rotating until after one third of the way? Soo much height
  12. Late but I am glad Brian eventually came around. (Where was Brian's unfollow button during the various occasions T*L trash talked Yuzu tho.)
  13. Is that... like a walley but jumped off from the left foot? lmao I can’t wrap my mind around how that’s supposed to work. Also according to that image you have to pick behind and around your left foot at take off (for a regular lutz.) That seems incorrect
  14. Last time I cut through mine (with my own blades lol) I just tied them into a strong knot. It was supposed to be an emergency solution but it's been that way since.... lol
  15. I sure hope he's less reliant on prain relievers this time around...
  16. hopeeee I can make it, too. (I'm not going to fill out the doodle bc my plans are unpredictable at the moment.)
  17. Well I wore down my Jackson Artistes which are low level skates so maybe this wouldn’t apply to your Risports but... There were visual clues as well but I wasn’t yet able to pick up on them for lack of experience lol so it took me a while to get the hint. It just became impossible to tie the laces tight enough without causing pain in my whole foot, since the padding was all worn down. It never really gave me any support anymore. I had to go back to adjust the laces all the time, making it tighter at times, when it felt like I couldn’t even lean into my edges anymore, and looser at others bc the pain became too much.
  18. I am wearing Chorus boots and never tried on the higher level Edeas so I don't have a complete opinion but with Edeas in general it is said that they don't have much of a breaking in period. And I can confirm, my boots have gotten a teeny bit looser but there's no substaintial difference to how they were in the beginning. So if you hated the fit in the store, it won't change much. I have heard that ice flys and pianos have a different fit tho (a little tighter around the heel, which is my problem with the choruses... horrible heel slipping. urgh. it's a nightmare) so it might be worth giving those a try. Also noteworthy is that you can heat punch Edeas, so if there's a particular region that's too tight you can widen that part locally. I think the higher level ones are a bit harder to do at home but I fixed some of my boot issues myself with a hairdryer (for lack of accessibility of an awesome skate tech)
  19. It looked like he communicated in a secret sign language with Kikuchi-san? (also, remember how we speculated if Yuzu does yoga? He was doing cat-cow in the end... and a faster version of it that looked.. funny lol)
  20. Happy new year guys! Thanks for sticking around and helping us form this great community. Today I was asked the uncomfortable question what my personal highlight of 2018 was and I really couldn’t think of anything but the moment I did the math and realized Yuzu was going to win gold in PC. Last year my personal life has been on the spectrum between underwhelming to shitty lol and Yuzu was one of the few things that gave me genuine joy Hope the best for Yuzu in the coming years, whatever that means to him.

  22. As an adult I think you can safely go up a few levels! and probably should. The recommendations are usually for kids who weigh less and thus have a harder time breaking boots in but also wearing them out. My Jackson Artistes were done after 2 months (but I kept on skating in them) and I know someone who broke down Edea Overtures in 3 weeks...
  23. Happy bday, Yuzubb. Wish you all the health in the universe. To another year of defying odds and achieving greatness
  24. I took 3 weeks off of skating bc it was just stressing me out but I am enjoying it again, even if my ice time is pretty limited now. oddly everything feels easier and I also had enough headspace to figure out why my flips were so consisten the first day I started landing them again and why they got all weird later. I also carefully started to work on spins again and I kinda manage 2-3 rev backspins now. I'm a bit terrified of ever falling on scratch spins ever again so I am being uncharacteristically careful. Still on my toe pick, despite my MK pros which is slightly discouraging. Also, I finally dared to do toe loops again. The pains in my left ankle have gotten alot better and it feels strong enough to do toe loops now. What's reallyy cool is, that I left off with a terrible toe waltz last season and I can do proper toe loops now! I could do one on my first try! Image training really works guys. Considering how limited my turn out is, I am pretty content with how they look. It feels great to be back tho I am also dreading my next slump already. My respect for pro skaters is x100, how do they do it psychologically?
  25. I think inline skating in general is no bad idea bc while it is different it will help you train the right muscles and balance etc. It will probably not prepare you for what ice feels like, tho. There are specific wheel set ups for ice skaters like snowwhites and picskates but those aren’t cheap either. I never tried those myself tho. Since the rinks around here close in the summer I am considering it.. but @yuzuangel has a pair, maybe she can tell you about her experience.
