  1. So wait, TAT was supposed to look after her and now she's glad to hoist her off on Eteri?

Btw, apparently rumours fly that TAT's the one responsible for Med losing weight. Ugh. After all the work Evgenia and Brian put in to get her healthy. No wonder she injured her back if she lost muscle, and as I understand, Med's Sambo-taught technique strains the back terribly.

  2. I've been away for so long but this news is worth returning for, lol.

IF true, it must have happened recently. I wonder if BOrser even knows, Evgenia made sure to show everybody how he's still her coach.

    Did Cricket get too expensive?

Or maybe she'll be training with Eteri until she can go back to Canada?

I don't know... She got herself injured while training in Moscow and lost weight, which shows that at least Brian was keeping her healthy. So now she's going to Eteri whose training methods induce injury? When she's already injured?

She must know she'll be playing third fiddle to Valieva and Sherbakova.

Is she counting on the Eteri bonus in her scores?

Or is she giving up on competition and doing it for Eteri's connections in the industry? There was a rumor that Ice Age wanted her to co-host with Alina and Evgenia accepted, but Eteri blocked it.

In a program where he doesn't have to show off quads and spins, or just one of each, he can do something very nice, because he does have talent.

I actually agree with that. Nathan's exhibitions are quite good, certainly no worse than most skaters, than Shoma or most of the girls. When he doesn't have to set up for quads, he's able to skate to the music. It's a pity he can't do both in competition.

  4. I'm a big fanfiction reader in other fandoms but it's usually hard for me to enjoy a fanfic about a real person I actually follow. Alternate universes are out of question, because I want to read about Yuzu, not someone kinda looking like Yuzu. Anything remotely not fitting my mental image of Yuzu and I'm out because that's not Yuzu to me. And finding a fic that would fit with how see Yuzu is basically impossible so I gave up.

  5. Has this been discussed before?

Apparently, though not very surprisingly, Shoma has a gaming channel.

In this video, at the time mark, he supposedly shares some personal (angsty teenager?) opinions but I can't speak Japanese so I wouldn't actually know.

The channel posts quite a lot, hours-long videos.  Although Shoma isn't always there, he's there enough to make people wonder whether it has affected his training. Looks like Shoma's serious about his gaming future.

How?? I'd love to know how!

There is a payed streaming service where I am, but I just about fell out of my chair when I saw the price! It's like three times the price of what eurosport was...*sigh*

Oh, 4.99€ for eurosport sounds like a dream, viasat is like $30 a month. Of course that includes other winter sports, but it's kind of useless when you only watch figure skating.

Wow, that's expensive. I bought Eurosport on Black Friday, about €12 for the whole year. I wanted to do it again because the experience was positive and I'd have got the whole summer Olympics too. VPN, even the speedy expensive ones, sound like a better option than Viasat.

I was checking italian tv and there's no trace of FS so hopefully youtube wonìt be geoblockerd....(if it is well there's always VPN.)

I hope it's free but even if it's not i'm ready to pay the fee if it's reasonable....4,99€ for eurosport player were really good so if it's something affordable why not?

Ted come on you know we need you!

I wonder why they still didn't say the list of countries with no tv rights tho,it sounds like a last minute thing.

I don't think I can take Ted gushing about underrotated quads....

K&C could be risky, because you can hit so many people by accident. I remember how a plushy bounced back from Yuzu's head right into the arms of a staff member. I don't know how much a thrown plushy can hurt you, but it's an unpleasant feeling for sure.

BUT there is a smart way to make a pieceful "Pooh rain" happen without breaking any rules:

    1. Bring a Pooh plushy with you

    2. Wait until the end of the performance

    3. Throw the plushy into the air and catch it with your hands

    4. Repeat the throw a few times, if you like

    5. Recycle the plushy for the next competition

Okay, it's more like fireworks than rain, but the effect is similar. Some Poohs might jump down one or two rows by mistake, but I think that's within the rules :xD:

Great idea! If banners and throwing gifts is forbidden, then waving a big Pooh or two is making a hella statement. Those yellow Poohs are visible from a mile away and more person-specific than banners or flags.

And, in fact, figure skating is so depressing right now that I think I will stop paying attention to anything not Yuzu until Skate Canada

I haven't been able to watch the last two JGP and the latest Challenger. For being so obsessed with broadcast, ISU is sure doing their damnest to turn off the viewers....  [/ end complaining]

In my opinion no, last season he was 23 years old, so it can not be his 10th season as a senior, it would be that he skated senior since he was 13 years old?

He won junior world championships in 2010, so he may start skating in senior since 2011. He won a silver medal in Four Continents in 2011, just before the big earthquake in March 2011.

Your math doesn't agree because we start counting from the 1st season, not 0th season whereas we count years from 0. And last season was his 9th, not 10th, so that's where you're missing 2 years.

    He started the 2010/2011 season at the age of 15. So 15 yo (1st season),  16 (2nd),  17 (3rd),  18 (4th),  19 (5th),  20 (6th),  21 (7th),  22 (8th),  23 (9th),  24 (10th).

So, wait, when Yuzu said he'd go for the 4A last season - of course it was derailed by injury but still - what did you think he was actually saying? I think he was making a clear statement of intent and he'll do it pretty much as soon as he has a halfway decent success rate on it.

I thought he was speaking in the heat of the moment and that adding a 4Lz, 4F and 4A is more difficult than making a statement of intent and that contrary to popular belief, Yuzu is not superman. I totally believe he wanted to but I totally didn't believe he'd be able to. So, I actually didn't think everybody here was seriously expecting all of that. I'll be overjoyed - and super-surprised - if we'll see the 4A this season at all, but I'm not expecting the 4F at all.

  11. 5 hours ago, WinForPooh said:

    But basically

    wtf where 4lz

    where 4f

    where 4A

We've been preparing for mass panic attacks and I just got back from getting whiskey and, huh?

Wait, so all those conversations here were in good faith and you guys really thought he'd burst out the 4F and the 4A? Was I really the only one who was looking at things realistically and expected the 4Lz at best?

I would prefer if they use the song with costume and choreo that give a nod to Yuzuru's program rather than something like this. It will feel more creative and not an on your face tribute

I don't mind it when juniors do it, there's the whole "omg that was awesome, I wanna do that too, I wanna try it" vibe. Like teenagers dressing in clothes that their idol wears. Once they turn senior, you expect more of them, though. It isn't even the matter of age to me: an in-your-face-tribute-slash-copy is cute on the junior circuit but a big no in the seniors, even if both skaters are 15. Once you join decide to play with big boys and girls, what was cute in the juniors becomes embarassing in the seniors.

Anyway, I suppose the boy loved PW and wanted those moves, even if set to a different song. But as there are so many of those moves (though I was actually a bit surprised by the lack of the sideways lunge)  it was pretty clear where the choreo came from, so they decided not to pretend and to acknowledge it with the costume.

The H&L was just cute, and damn, that costume. Dare I say it... it looked better than Yuzu's.

(PW is blocked for me but I hope to get another link later). I love that they used different musics too.  It shows that Yuzu had many inspiring programs.

    Is this it?

He didn't use the PW music but the costume and choreo are pretty clear...

  14. People discovering Rasputin, that must be something, not to grow up with it and be slapped with it as a fully grown adult :smiley-laughing021:

If not Rasputin, here's another option, from the same troll band that @WinForPooh  @Henni147 mentioned earlier, how about Genghis Khan? Nothing like an upbeat song about riding the steppes, laying waste to conquered countries and begetitng 7 children in one night.

So does everyone remember TSL saying someone at TCC was training quints in a harness? People are saying Brian confirmed this.:peekapooh: Ted apparently mentioned it in the JGP commentary.

Not exactly, but, what Ted said

    Quote

    - Do you think a skater will do a quintuple jump?
    - I do believe that will happen. Maybe not in my lifetime but I do believe that will happen. I was talking to Brian Orser a little earlier today about that and he also believes that five rotations will be done. In fact it is currently being worked on right now so stay tuned for that. You'll hear more and may see more. We'll see what happens but quad axels are being worked on and very, very close to being landed.

In that scenario I see Yuzu handing it to Kohei Uchimura (if he isn't competing this time), where Winter's most decorated Japanese athlete hands it to Summer's most decorated Japanese athlete, a very nice symbolism.

From what I read around, Kohei is planning on competing if he can recover from injuries in time, but that lady wrestler brought golds from 3 Olympics.

Selfishly, I wish they'd "use" Yuzu...

I would kill to see that!

Raf would twist himself up talking about psychological warfare! :xD:

Or better yet, play them during competitions Yuzu doesn't take part in. No competition without Yuzu!

Yes Yuzuru is the most popular active athlete in China, and not only in figure skating but in all winter sports.

There is a vote on Weibo ( Chinese Twitter)for all active athlete, fans can support their favorite athletes everyday form March to December 2019. In winter sports, Yuzu got 310,544 votes now and the second athlete is Boyang Jin who got 44,255 votes.

Off topic but I can scarcely imagine how popular Boyang. would be if he had an OGM.
