I have a little dream, but I don't think that this will ever happen. Jason's 360° practice videos at TCC inspired me:

      Reveal hidden contents

Imagine, if Yuzu prepared some exclusive non-competitive programs himself, skated, filmed and posted them (in his blog or wherever). No distracting sounds, clappings, comments or other people at the rink. Just the music, the ice and him...

He could wear his usual black training gear or whatever he wants. The turnus could be totally random or recurring like every year/cycle or smth. Could be small snippets or full programs of +3:00 length...

How would you think about something like this? Would you support this? I'm not sure, but if I was able to skate like him and had the time, I think I would try it. There are some themes and stories that I could transport better in a calm and silent atmosphere without noises and pressure... (even EXs and shows are pressure settings in some way).

I support this. I've seen other videos produced by this person who filmed Jason and they are unique and impressive. This would be a true piece of art. And it would be perfect as yuzu would demand repeting filming many times until he would get a perfect version. And TCC has this big windows and natural light.... All his sparkles in natural light...He could do no jumps, like Ciontu.

    About calm and silent:

I went to Florence and the Machine concert once and.. hated it. I couldn't focus on her angelic voice bc people were singing, screaming and so on. Then my friend gave me Florence and the Machine orchestra record and I loved it. zero distraction. So yes, Zu should skate in silent atmosphere and it should be recorded

I'm actually more interested in what Yuzuru would describe as "manliness" -- I wouldn't have picked that word but I find his choice fascinating and at the same time fitting for who he is as a person. Tbh I'm not sure which word I would have picked myself -- but I think a few years ago my answer would have definitely been heavily influenced by mainstream western-macho views

I've been thinking about this too. Yuzuru is one of the people who made me think outside the box and change this western, conservative view.

This interview reminded me of another one I read months ago (yes, I'm Timmiy's fan and were 1d fan, I'm young, don't roll your eyes on me). It's long, I quoted the part where they discussed masculinity. https://i-d.vice.com/en_uk/article/evwwma/harry-styles-interviews-timothee-chalamet-photos

    H-Harry Styles T-Timothee Chalamet

    Quote

H:Thinking about where the world’s at today, do you feel a responsibility as an actor to represent a new form of masculinity on screen? The concept of masculinity has changed so much since we were growing up...
T: [...] I want to say you can be whatever you want to be. There isn’t a specific notion, or jean size, or muscle shirt, or affectation, or eyebrow raise, or dissolution, or drug use that you have to take part in to be masculine. It’s exciting. It’s a brave new world. Maybe it’s because of social media, maybe it’s because of who the f*ck knows what, but there’s a real excitement from our generation about doing things in a new way… I would be really curious to see what you have to say about it?

H: [...]I think there’s so much masculinity in being vulnerable and allowing yourself to be feminine, and I’m very comfortable with that. Growing up you don’t even know what those things mean. You have this idea of what being masculine is and as you grow up and experience more of the world, you become more comfortable with who you are. Today it’s easier to embrace masculinity in so many different things. I definitely find – through music, writing, talking with friends and being open – that some of the times when I feel most confident is when I’m allowing myself to be vulnerable. It’s something that I definitely try and do.
T: That’s really beautiful and inspiring, and certainly it goes back to feeling comfortable in chaos and creating in madness. It’s almost a high to be vulnerable. I really get that. I think it can be achieved in art, but also in intimacy. It’s the craziest feeling to achieve that vulnerability. If us having this conversation, in any infinitesimal way, can help anyone, a guy, a girl, realise that being vulnerable is not a weakness, not a social barrier. It doesn’t mean you’re crazy or hyper emotional, you’re just human, which I think is something your music gets at and hopefully my movies do too. Humans are complex; we need to feel a lot of things. We are not homogeneous.

  4. I suddenly felt a need to go back to this thread.

Saw on twitter the other day that someone called Tarasova/Morozov: Bill and Fleur.

also, remember when Dumbledore talked to Snape abt Lilly? That famous "Always" quote. let's pretend for a while that Yuzu is Snape and Brian is Dumbledore

    here is a reference: https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Forum:Snape_and_Harry:

    Spoiler

Yuzuru and Brian, conversation after 2018 Olympics:

Yuzuru: I want to rest and heal properly now, I’ll take a little break from jumping, I won't go to Milan

„But this is so touching SeverusYuzuru” Said Dumbledore Brian seriously. “You have grown to care for the boy your ankle, after all?” “For my ankle?” Shouted Yuzuru. “Expecto Patronum” From the tip of his wand skates burst the silver doe golden Quad Axel. Nessie landed on the ice, bounded once across the ice rink, and soared out of the window. Brian watched the Quad Axel fly away, and as her golden glow faded, he turned back to Yuzuru, and his eyes were full of tears “After all this time?” “Always” said Yuzuru.

Guys, I left you for what? 4 hours? and get back to 8 new pages. wow

very sorry to bring cursed edit back, but I think that no satelite mentioned one key thing. Do you remember that yuzu said that he spoke to speed skaters and was interested in their costumes? that he could rotate faster wearing one of those costumes? I remember cursed discussion that happend on the planet around that time. Guys, this is it, the cursed design is THE costume

    1. Yuzu - duh, lol.

    2. Junhwan - possibly because he reminds me of Yuzu a tiny bit.

    3. Kevin Aymoz

    4. Daniel Samohin - I just enjoy his over-dramatic ass.

    5. ... Aliev/Kolyada

On that list, I would only consider Samohin to veer towards stereotypically masculine, but it's tempered by his over-the-top drama and costumes.

And who, in your opinion represents the typically masculine style? I would say Kovtun, Majorov and Bychenko, but I wonder if I just don't subconsciously equate "stocky and without finesse whatsoever" with "stereotypically masculine". From past skaters, who did posess finesse, maybe Patrick and Javi?

    1.yu know who

2.Jason - was getting better and better over the years and then we got this years sp. I watched it at least 100 times. so.. sensual, masculine yet fluid and soft, and .. I have no words. It does things to me

3.Kevin - my new european love

4.Junnie - I fell in love with junliet during gpf and yes, reminds me of zu

5.Misha - when he is on he is on

Typically masculine - yes, rest of Rus field

From past skaters who posess finesse? Patrick, one programm to prove it: his sp from 2016/2017, kill me but I love that step sequence equally as Zu's LGC sequence from that season, for all the different reasons

If I recall correctly no satelite here brought one word to this gender disscussion:

    androgynous

1: having the characteristics or nature of both male and female

2a: neither specifically feminine nor masculinethe

b: suitable to or for either sexandrogynous

3: having traditional male and female roles obscured or reversedan

And that's what I think about Zu's performances

Thank you! That's what I tried to put into words yesterday. Yuzu's skating doesn't look rehearsed or studied step by step. It's more like a mood and very natural. You can experience this best in his practice sessions. His spontaneous stroking, gliding and jumping to others' music looks better than most competitive skates. That's why he has full house and goosebump atmosphere during practice.

Even if he portraits someone specific like Seimei or skates a tribute to his idol, he's not a copycat. Yuzu is always Yuzu on and off the ice and that's why I love him so much.

Oh boy, I still think about that post of yours. It really touched me. Yes, Yuzuru is spontaneous. Like a force of nature, like wind. He is always him, he (especially in HL) lets us see his soul (funny how some people would still call him private)

I have one thing to add.

What is another(beside nature) universally loved thing? Music. people like different types of music, but it's hard to find a person who doesn't like music at all. And as we all know Yuzu embodies the  music. Every cell of his body simply follows every note, doesn't matter if it's chopin or prince. Music is like wind, it can't be seen but Yuzu, he can "show" me music, he makes music something phisical, that is universal beauty

Even in his street clothes though, Johnny likes exaggerated proportions. As you say, it's a choice.

You know, I find it interesting how Shoma always has a multitude of costumes but Yuzu sticks to the same two for the full season. Shoma's definitely a fashion kid. His choices aren't necessarily bold, but they're varied and interesting.

I'm pretty sure that I read an interviev  where Shoma says that he always lets his mom choose his costumes, It somehow occured to me that he doesn't care much

  6. It took me a while, but I just knew that Yuzu and Shuzo are simply to memable to miss the oportunity

According to an article I found on Google, Nathan's course load is four per semester.  Normal complement at most schools would be five.

That's something I've been wondering about. Thank you for the information :)

  8. the truth is, in our generation many students do balance multiple activities. whether it's education&full time job or education&having family/children or anything else. it's a matter of time management and learning how to compromise. and that's the way Nate speaks about it. he is like: yeah, i do my job, i do what I have to do. I even noticed that he usually uses word "shool" in interviews instead of school's name. he is a nice guy. it's the US media that make us dislike him. funny, the more they speak highly of him, the more fanyus dislike and attack him....

  9. 16 hours ago, rockstaryuzu said:

Sad, but also weird when you consider that the US is the ground zero of the whole LGBQT rights movement, going all the way back to the 60s, long before any other country was open to it. America definitely has a bit of a schizophrenic attitude in this regard.

That being said, I take issue with Scott's comments from a different perspective. Saying anyone is 'unbeatable' is always demonstrably false ( even saying it about Yuzu...reality is that this is figure skating and winning or losing is the judge's hands, not the skater's.). And to say that Nathan's doing things that have never been done...what, exactly, might that be? 4Lo? No, Yuzu was the first one to land it. 4F? I do believe that was Shoma. 4Lz? That was Brandon Mroz back in 2011. 4S? Timothy Goebel, 2002. And the first 4T was landed before Nathan was even born, by Kurt Browning in the 90's.

If he wants to talk about the number of quads in a program, yes, Nathan is the only man to have attempted 6 and it was a spectacular failure. And under the new rules, such an attempt would be extremely difficult if not impossible. Nathan hasn't invented any signature moves either.  So no 'things that have never been done' for Nathan.

Nathan's very, very good and getting better all the time. But he's no innovator and he's as human as anyone else so I don't really understand Scott's comments. They're unrealistic at best and jingoistic at worst.

the only thing Nathan did, that no one else did, was jumping all 5 of them. yes, he is/was capable of jumping 4lo 4lz 4s 4f 4t. these are facts and thats all the credit we should give him

Since you brought Nathan vs Yuzu back, I'd like to point out one thing:

In wiki article about Nathaniel there are:

    • Two paragraphs abt managing Yale and skating - 196 words
    • One paragraph abt his performance at the Olympics - 146 words

And speaking about wikipedia, I'd like to report that Yuzurella Hanya is back and well. I checked, out of curiosity, if anyone updated Polish wikipedia article about Yuzuru after wc'19. What I found was this:
