  1. My condolences for your late mother, may her soul rest in peace. I can only imagine how difficult it is to bare open one of the most intimate part of yourself to other people, let alone to strangers on the internet, so I only want to let you know that your story fell on an empathetic ear, and I wish you strength and solace still to go through what you are still feeling now . While it made me feel sad to read your story, it made me also feel relief and joy, to know that Yuzu's skating can bring such a powerful, uplifting effect on the spirit of the people watching him. Something that inspires courage in the soul of human being. As a final word, I just want to assure you, that you are welcome here, along with other fans of Yuzu
  2. Oh hi there fellow lowlands expat — I currently live in Belgium but I still put Indonesia in the country tag. It is interesting indeed to see the country stats — I somehow think that this is due to the spillover from the anime/manga fans community to the FS — even before YOI was aired . Percentage wise we might not be that significant compared to other countries with proper winter and proper following on the winter sports but we do have the power in numbers, so.... About Indonesian represantation in FS, I put it in the spoiler below↓ ... anyway, I am not supposed to feel insecure about my own (physical) beauty by a man.... But that is what exactly happened to me after viewing these photos....
  3. In case you didn't know, my absolute favorite US skater(s) are the Shibs, and I am beyond elated when I saw Olympic channel finally uploaded their free dance on youtube (no need for rummaging through the website!). I am just so... wEVAlMTeyWc Let's savor it!
  4. @glilikoi thanks for the explanation! Also, I trust you on the Finnish journalist thing Edit: I found a post on Tumblr that shows the newspapers' front-page today, after GP Helsinki is held. All of the newspapers nailed his name down (save for this newspaper which we have hotly discussed here — which turned out to be a free newspaper commonly distributed on metro stations) @4Nessie yay language nerds! I might not be that knowledgeable on that many languages, but knowing the facts about Finnish, my thought went straight to "this must be one of those Finnish noun suffixes!" . Interesting info on the Czech as well (the only Slavic language I ever learned so far is Russian, so I barely have any idea about other Slavic languages 😅)
  5. This is what I thought too about the mispronounciation that happened during the GP. I understand about the J softening, since Finnish J is a soft J (eg. Junhwan became Yunhwan, Jin (Boyang) became Yin...)...but Yuzuri?? I am definitely not familiar with Finnish orthography (let alone the Finnish language itself ) , but there seems to be this tendency of final vowel change of u to i? Don't take my word for it though This is not a misspell, that's for sure, since Finnish (and other finno-ugric languages) can get pretty hardcore at declensing* nouns (...and yes, that includes proper nouns like names as well) (*simply put, adding things to a word to give it different functions, eg. in english you add 's to denote possession, mere s to denote plural stuffs, etc.)
  6. He seems to be able to blend kuyashii and YOLO enough this time — I guess Helsinki marks a new beginning indeed
  7. As I'd like to think of it now, Kikuchi san left some of his warlock power to Ghislain (and maybe a little bit more to Shuzo san, the Asahi TV (?) reporter for the GP series). I still want to see him with Yuzu as well but let's just hope that he is alright and well
  8. ....rather typical of many Japanese corporations really, especially those with large enough production rate they can afford to sell their product abroad (trust me, I am a pentaxian ) Also, I am really glad with all these new updates, really watering my crops as the fandom lingo says
  9. It doesn't work when one expects a long-held side lunge, instead of a choreographic position just meant to be held as long as the drum beat in the music. It works perfectly for me, since (during that choreo sequence(? Is it how you call this? If not, sorry for confusing terminologies >_<) ) it looks perfectly in place with other moves done before and after the lunge — resulting in the image of the onmyouji doing the long incantation to banish demons accompanied with such movements (or at least that's how I see it whenever I watch Seimei )
  10. Anyway, a crack theory of mine about why Nessie will resurface at Helsinki (Hidden due to irrelevance to the current discussion at hand )
  11. If this image training energy can somehow be transferred to Yuzu to further fuel his success in landing the jump.... I'd be more than happy (to help him succeed in his conquest)
  12. I actually think he'll still be in the first mindset, at least for the first half of the season, though let's be real, latter-half bonus is quite useful for raking up points so I don't think he can ignore that in his consideration, which is why I pick the second choice. As for the jumps I think he will still do the same jump as in ACI.
  13. Hai @tkinashi, selamat datang , yang betah ya di sini
  14. I think quite a lot of Japanese fans understand the GOAT thing — I saw a fanart of a baby goat in Otoñal costume from a jp twitter account , not too sure about Nessie, but in my own experience I only knew Nessie as a code name for you know what only after I read about it on here at PH
  15. Speaking of status change, mine changed into tissue box! Okay that one is more of a plushie but it should be still relevant
  16. Oh, they don't? But surely they are open to celebs' endorsements? Since Yuzu doesn't have any social media account then maybe the thing similar to the usual SNS endorsements he can do is doing a fashion feature at a certain magazine (say, at GQ Japan )
  17. Armani might as well have Yuzu wearing their suit for their ads or something (like a fashion feature) — win win win
  18. High protein diet what, Yuzu develops his abs with premium grade Miyagi rice
  19. As long as none of his skaters inherit his Axel then I am fine with it ;p
  20. I thought it is already confirmed that Haru Yo Koi is this season's EX? I forgot the news link — I saw that on twitter.
  21. Regardless of Nathan's participation* in 4CC, I feel like Yuzu would end up being lowballed anyway (*not that it's not a significant factor — it is, and how much he would be lowballed also depends on Nathan's — or any other US men's skaters' participation in 4CC — especially if the skater in question is prop-worthy ). ....though then again it doesn't take 4CC to be held in North America to get Yuzu to be lowballed I don't know — is the judges line up for 4CC already posted somewhere?
  22. Oh dear, hopefully she recovers in time for Skate Canada
  23. All of them? Also, slightly unrelated but I love Yuzu jam tea, I first drank it at a Korean restaurant
  24. A visit on this thread makes me realize that Jason Brown is my favorite US single skater :o :o
  25. Baseball has been popular in the mainstream for far longer than figure skating — both sports entered Japan fairly early (baseball in 1872, while the earliest instance of figure skating in Japan dates back to 1877), but figure skating only got somewhat popular in 1920s (and only pick up on steam at 1977 Worlds onwards, when Tokyo hosted the Worlds — also FYI JSF was first formed in 1929 for both figure skating and speed skating). Edit: Sorry I didn't write much more about baseball at first, because I am not too familiar with the sport as an audience, and I am not too familiar with the sports' presence in Japan either. I don't know how popular exactly baseball was in Japan at the turn of the century, but if it was even referenced in the novel "I am a Cat" by Natsume Soseki (which was written around 1905-1909 first as a serialized stories in a literary journal), then I think it's safe to say that baseball is already highly popular among the people then, especially the boys .
