  1. I’ve always been curious about his endorsements. Word was that he has a self imposed limit of 5 sponsors as he didn’t want to be distracted with too many commitments. Also, he apparently chooses endorsements he believes in/could use? Not sure if this is just fan fuelled rumours or something he personally confirmed. About the end of Yuzu Days, does this mean the end of just the publication, or the end of the sponsorship by P&G altogether? I’m also wondering if Kose is the start of a longer multi-year sponsorship or just a once-off thing. curious how he / his brand is perceived and his commercial value now that there’s a possibility of r*****ment in the near future....hoping he never ever has to worry about his financial future once he hangs up his skating boots
  2. Even though it’s choreographed by Shae, Masquerade is very much Yuzu’s creation and a reflection of him and his skating. He’s tinkering with it all the time and it might be vastly different by the time it has its last performance. In that sense, Masquerade is an expression of his feelings, passions, and personality, at this very time and place. It’s much more a reflection of him than, say, a competition program that needs to adhere to a set structure. So although it’s sad that it won’t continue after FAOI, its transience makes it rich and meaningful and a precious gift to savour.
  3. I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry. Please Yuzu, you need healthy ligaments/ ankles/ knees even after you r*****. In any case, I hope think that his more visible bulked up physique will help cushion the impact of doing repetitive quads. He doesn’t look as fragile as he used to.
  4. I guess we should be grateful we’re seeing only the 4lz attempts. Already we’re losing hair. Imagine witnessing the repetitive jumps and falls leading to the sprained left ankle
  5. Thank goodness for sponsor commitments! but what the heck sprained ankle!? Yuzu 😭😭😭
  6. Also, only the winner's wishes are respected, if at all. The decision makers are the Feds and ISU. Technically, skaters including Yuzu do not choose, but are assigned instead. I can't remember my answers for the poll, but agree largely with @Xen SA: Nate+Boyang SC: Yuzu+Misha Idf: Vincent+Shoma CoC: Vincent+Misha RC: Nate+Shoma NHK: Yuzu+Boyang I can't explain why I place Yuzu in NHK instead of Shoma, except for a hunch that JSF might want Yuzu skating at home as much as possible before he r******. Also to give every chance for a Jpn victory with the highest possible ranked Jpn skater. Shoma for RC seems likely given his new training digs. The only sure thing is Nate at SA.
  7. We are celebrating it in the FAOI Kobe thread
  8. That’s what I’m thinking too. He’s not a rising junior looking to learn how to jump. Yes, it would be nice to master 4lz and stabilise 4 loop, but he’s already a quadster. What he needs now is the push that comes from training with competitive peers. This was what Yuzu needed to take his skating to the next level, and he found it in Javi. I’d imagine it’s the same scenario in Sambo too with the Russian girls, and in Montréal too with all the ice dancers training together. You benchmark your progress against your rivals on a daily basis. So why Eteri when there’s no top male skater there? As for technique, I honestly dunno if it’s fixable at this stage in his career. He’s not young and it’s gonna take him ages to retool. There may not be enough time between now and Beijing. He needs to keep his body healthy too. just makes me glad that Yuzu got his 2 OGMs safely tucked away
  9. I mean, sure his programs could use more transitions. And it’s not like he doesn’t already skate to warhorses. But the whole idea of Shoma, who probably speaks less English than Yuzu, uprooting to Russia and training there....I still can’t wrap my mind around it. i guess he might want to benefit from a controlled, ultra competitive environment. But there’s no top male skater there (Morisi for all his improvements is not at that level). Would training alongside Alina and the 3As provide that push? I hope Shoma ends up in a place that’s good for him and takes his skating to the next level. I loved his senior debut programs, but since Loco, all his programs have looked the same. It’s a gutsy move and I wish him all the best
  10. Wow. Shoma used to say he would never be choreographed by anyone but Mihoko, so this move has to have been done, if not under their direction, with their fullest blessings and under the assumption that they had done all they could for him. I cant see him moving to Orser, as long as Yuzu is still actively competing. 2 skaters fighting for spots training in the same overseas rink? Maybe if Yuzu had an inkling he wanted to r***** soon and was willing to help JSF nurture his successor. Maybe, but I doubt it. Raf? Again there’ll be issues with Nate, just like wIth Yuzu. ET? Aside from the language issues, she’s not known for good male skaters. Lambiel perhaps? Or yikes Tom Z? Who trains Vincent, is it Tammy Gambil? All the other coaches have top men already...
  11. @micaelis sending you my best wishes and wishing you a safe and healthy return. Take care!
  12. I....don’t want to think how dirty the ice must be
  13. I hope his faith is not misplaced, I really do. But he seems like the only one playing by the rules and it’s hard not to feel sad and despondent about it
  14. This is fun, thanks for starting the thread. Otonal was skated beautifully in Helsinki and even better at CoR and because we could see it realised to its potential, its the best of the three for me. But it doesn’t come close to Ballade, which is my favourite short (especially Olys version) and ranks just behind LGC. Origin I like, but for reasons other than the composition of the piece itself. I mean, who doesn’t love the hair, the costume, the murderface vibes which go so well with the aesthetic. But from a choreographic standpoint, apart from the stunning IB, it ranks behind Seimei for me, which worked so well because of its clearly defined arc and how all the jumps and spins worked together. Perhaps if he had skated it clean, and had been able to insert the 4A at the beginning to the sounds of the gongs, the entire piece might have changed. What I love about Origin however is the confidence and maturity that Yuzu brings to the programme. The boy who skated R&J at 17 would not have been able to pull off Origin (regardless of what jumps were included). Origin needs to be skated by a man, and Yuzu brought it. An unpopular opinion, but I’m iffy on Haru yo koi. Can’t explain it, but it doesn’t grab me the way Notte Stellata did, or even Requiem. So it would come after Notte and Requiem in that order.
