I love all of smal58's videos! Especially the Greatest Showman video and Fight Song video.

For some reason I have a lot of trouble with memorizing hiragana and katakana. I seem to do really well with listening, but for some reason, the memorization isn't coming easy to me!

It helped me to write down the letters over and over again. I started with the first 5 hiragana until I could remember them. Also you could try speaking the letters when you write them since it sounds like you learn by listening. After writing all the hiragana letters, it helped me to watch YouTube videos of walking around Japan. I would pause the video if I saw some hiragana then if I couldn't remember which letter it is, I would look it up. After I learned hiragana, I started learning katakana in the same way. Hope this helps you a little bit! You can do it!

It is nice but I can't help but think they must really, really want him to retire to pull out this video at this point, esp as this most likely was made way in advance.

Yeah or their trying to make sure Yuzuru's fans will still watch Olympic Channel after this Olympic games.

  4. Hi! I was wondering if someone could give me a link to the youtube video where Yuzuru talks of finding comfort in looking at the stars after the earthquake. I need something I can cite in my college paper, but a youtube video should be okay. An article might work too!  I hope it's okay to ask this here! Thank you so much!

Max reminding the FS world of some of Yuzuru's GP stats

(probably to give some balance to what/who we will be hearing a lot of hype about this week...!) :smiley-talk005:

Which competitions will Yuzuru be competing in? I'm totally out of the loop this year since starting college.

I know this is an old post but I'm here to announce that one of my skaters got their quad Axel. :smiley-happy093:

Did you name that skater Yuzuru? 😁

Maybe it's a sign that Yuzuru will be doing his quad axel soon.

She looks somewhat "immune" to it, like "he is pulling my hair again, just smile and wave". Kanako has DEFINITELY experienced some stuff.

Does she have a brother? Cause that would explain her immunity 😁

After watching the movie and reading the book, my obsession with POTO in general became so big and I can safely say that the way Yuzu portrays the Erik is absolutely beautiful.

I wonder if Yuzu watched the movie to take extra notes heheh.

The same here. I only watched the movie because of Yuzuru! Now I love love love POTO!

I just realised my real Japanese learning enemy... onomatopoeia words. This is most likely just a personal thing but onomatopoeia words seem so much harder compared to any kanji I've ever learned. Each and every kanji is so different from one another and since I'm good with memorising learning kanji has never been a problem for me but onomatopoeia words... they are all so similar... and so many, and there are no hints as to what each word could mean while kanji gives us hints through radicals... this is a nightmare. :14066882:

Yeah there's so many but at least they're fun to say! ニコニコ ピカピカ グルグル

  10. 6.6 Earthquake off the coast of Miyagi prefecture in Japan 2 hours ago.

They sure do get a lot of earthquakes. Hopefully Yuzuru was safe at home.

Edit: It was around a 5 in Miyagi prefecture.

Aww, that's so sweet! I love hearing how other Fanyus cheer for / show their support for Yuzu. And it's always fun having people to watch / support Yuzu with! I agree, Pyeongchang was intense to watch, but I was honestly so proud watching him not only win, but win a consecutive gold. And there's just something about Pyeongchang Seimei that I can't put into words, it's indescribably beautiful <3

For months after he won I would randomly say to my mom "I'm so happy Yuzuru won!" 😊  Even today I'm still so happy.  Best Olympics ever!!

  12. I usually watch with my mom. Olympics 2018 I was watching live and was so nervous I don't know if I even spoke while he was skating. But inside I was going "Yes!" And on the almost falls "nooooo!"   Lately I've been so nervous about watching Yuzuru that I find out on the planet what happened before I watch lol!  Then I'm prepared. Telling my mom during WTT FS "he messes up a jump at some point"  But I'm always praying he does well!

Well... Yuzu said that training conditions at rink of Sendai are better than at the TCC (including condition of the ice). So, yes, I trust Yuzu.

Yuzuru seemed to be referring to the fact that he was the only one there skating so he could play his music over and over again. The condition of the ice might be better just because no one else is skating around on it.  Still must be hard to be there all alone each day with not much encouragement from others. I hope he can go back to Canada when the pandemic is over.

The new Yuzu crumbs that we got made me really happy not only because we got to see Yuzu but also because I understood his message instantly and was able to read it without the assistance of any Hiragana. :tumblr_inline_mjgka6fYNw1qz4rgp:

I can feel my brain getting wrinkles, lol.

Still pretty worried about WTT though... :yznotimpressed:

I have so much trouble understanding Yuzuru. I don’t know why...maybe I'm distracted by his face

Very well said! I love this quote. It could really be about Yuzu.

What makes Yuzu so special, loveable and precious to so many people all over the world are not just his athletic and artistic abilities and his successes. It's his character. He is such a genuine, generous and positive person with a huge, warm heart. He is authentic and full of integrity.

He has the courage to wear his heart on his sleeves and bare his soul to everyone when he performs on the ice. This is why it's impossible to look away when you watch him skate. This is also why - on top of all his obvious skills and level of mastery in figure skating - he has so many devoted fans and admirers from all over the planet.

No matter what hardships he has had to experience, no matter how much resistance he has had to face, not matter how much criticism and ridicule he has had to endure, Yuzu has always stayed true to himself and he has kept his pure and beautiful heart, spirit and soul. :tumblr_inline_n18qr5lPWB1qid2nw:

He's one of the few skaters that still smiles even if he didn't do as well as he wanted. I love that about him!

Hi Glory. thanks for the tip. I will check it out. Maybe you could answer a burning question for me? please, thank you.
In interviews I notice Yuzu (and others) often end a sentence with the sound “mus or ‘mas’’. Not the word, Gazaimas, but something else. What would that word ending mean, do you think?

    Thanks.

It's a polite verb ending. I’ve noticed he usually ends a sentence with omoimas which means "I think".  But any verb can end with Mas. You use this polite way in sentences when you are talking to people that aren't close friends or relatives.
