Has anyone calculated the max point value Otonal could get with the current layout? Yuzuru has always achieved the highest SP score for many consecutive seasons. I wonder if he will stick with this current layout if it couldnt rack up enough points. After all, I remember he used to say he knows the importance of having a high SP score to give him enough cushion going into the free. Tbh, I'm not the biggest fan of having all the jumps in the first half. It just doesnt feel balanced. It goes well with the music for now but we wont know the potential of putting the combo in the 2nd half unless we see it. Although if he wins with this layout, its def a Yuzuru way to win.

I really like Otonal costume. It's not Seimei/Notte Stellata/LGC/Origin tier but its still beautiful. I love the color from afar when he revealed it. When its up close, I like its details. I dont mind the neckline at all. It showcases his beautiful slender neck. The minor problem I have with it is the length if the top. I think it is a little short. But I think the reason for its length is to show the rhinestones design underneath it on the pants. Yeah he could very well go for something like orange or maroon to fit the season but I think he wants to tribute to Johnny's Otonal costume, hence the blue. Really, only Yuzuru can work the flashiness and androgny. His body is sooo slender that these costumes show off that hourglass body and he made them his own. Imagine a bulky male skater in them

Sorry to go off the tangent a lil on the topic of discussion. Somehow I landed on Yuzu's R&J 1.0 program at Worlds (guess bc of JULIEEETTTT) and gosh he was literally flying across the ice. Yeah he had stamina issue but it didnt bother me and like near the end, it just felt like he was fighting for it and that somewhat played out the character of Romeo. While his scores werent that high back then, it still such a complete program with a high rewatch value (and this is what most Yuzu's programs are known for). Origin reminds me of this program in that it is overflowed with passion/drama/rawness and it requires his body to constantly moving to the music, which was felt during practice. Unfortunately, he didnt deliver it yet at ACI but I'm sure he will find it by Worlds. I can't wait for Origin to peak urghhhhhh

These looks are everything! It makes him look like a dark fierce swan (Black Swan). He looks handsome. I usually dont use this word on him as I find "beautiful" or "good looking" more suitable for him. BUT he looks even more handsome in this hairstyle this season than in LGC. Maybe because it was paired with a darker attire, it gives him a more mature and mysterious aura.

I'm as extra as Yuzu by taking 9/20 off work and 9/21 as well to enjoy the full afterjoy of my first preseason. So I would be really sad if I cant stream live. Really hoping some kind souls here to literally record the whole thing if you can livestream it pleaseee. My last livestream experience was a mess. It was my first time livestreaming and it was for the Olympics. I watched every group (splat fest) and when it was yuzu's freeskate, it crashed. It was like in the AM and I almost cried. Actually I did a lil and then i tried to look through the other sites and found ESPN and it was when his perf was over. At least it was the part he was smiling and I sorta felt relieved bc he seemed so happy.

So I got desperate in this Yuzuru drought and decided to create a "new program" for him LOL I made small edits from his program from FTT here and there to fit the music from Empress of the Palace. FTT isn't my favorite Yuzuru program so I didn't watch it very often. But with this music I think I shamelessly enjoy it more.

Oh you explained it so well! I definitely agree! I do remember seeing a video with Yuzuru saying to the press how asian skaters aren't perceived to be very "artistic" in this sport and he wants to change that perception. I heard Figure Skating used to be ruled by the trinity: US, Russia, and Canada. There's definitely bias in the ISU judging system, but I'm glad to see how Yuzuru is revolutionizing the sport over time. Now there are definitely more asian skaters even the top ones. Although I sorta expect the post Yuzu era will somehow revert to what it would be before as the coming generation includes strong skaters like Stephen Gogolev, who is a Russian Canadian and the whole Ladies' Single field is predominantly Russian from Junior to Senior levels. I think so too, it'll definitely nice to see it beings skate to in a gala

LOL no worries! What I meant was it's a lot harder to choose an asian piece haha I just listened to it briefly and it's really good! Lovely piece! But it's a little soft and slow with no narrative so it would need to take a skater as good as Yuzuru to skate to this piece. I also like this

Awww both of your comments are so sweet! Oh yeah, I'm also surprised as to why the music choice for skating world is so limited/narrow? There are so many great asian music choices out there!!! Maybe with some skaters, their choreographers choose it for them? Maybe with some skaters, they choose their own music but choose a safe classic to connect with the audience? Apparently, the problem with those scenarios is the skaters can't connect with the music/program themselves. Some of the other skaters, I don't feel like they believe in their own program/music enough to draw us into the world they try to create through their program. As for Yuzuru, he chooses and believes in his own music/program, which completing draws us into the world he creates.

Haha I think I do like some music with vocals such as LGC since it's upbeat and fun, which suits his rock star style, and POTO since there's just a few parts of the medley, and Notte Stellata. This is actually my first season waiting for his new program, so I'm also very excited haha but waiting has its own fun...I'm sure I'll get a lot of side eyeing for that LOL If Yuzuru were Chinese, I think this would suit him very much. The is a medley for the two songs Jing Hong Wu and Feng Huan Yu Fei from the megahit drama Legend of Zhen Huan
