  1. @yuzuangel can we please have a chopin vs seimei final bracket?
  2. I think this whole thing reminds me of kpop. SME used to be the top entertainment group of the big three along with JYP and YG. They kept having trainees coming to them because as long as the trainees debut, it's a guarantee success. The groups were almost guaranteed a big fanbase due to the reputation of being under one of the big three. But their groups always ended up having one or two members leaving due to mistreatment, dissatisfaction, and their slave contracts. Over time, many fans got bored of their style due to the company's complacency and mismanagement. On the other hand, Big Hit was a much less reputable company and mainly managed BTS at the time. Now Big Hit overtook SME solely on the success of BTS. Eteri camp sorta remind me of SME.
  3. I actually don't think any of them has that much self awareness to improve artistically. if Kostornaia were to leave, she would have left 2 seasons ago when she kept coming 2nd to Sasha. But last season worked so well for her and i'm sure the team has seen her as a gold contender among the three and will shift their focus to get her up technically. I don't see why she would want to leave.
  4. exactly this! And I think its also because judges/feds know these skaters will only get a few dominating seasons so why not maxed out their scores, which isnt a good logic to go by but its what happenning. and yes, because Yuzu's journey is different from other skaters, he also grows differently in his own ways. And even when the system is as unmotivating to him as it is now, he still finds ways to grow for himself and for us.
  5. btw, on today's topic i woke up feeling so watered. happy that Yuzu is safe and so thankful that he is so thoughtful. I hope he can get much off ice training and rest as possible. Lol he is such a biased patootie toward Seimei. eta: dont we all love to talk lol i remember we hit 5000 pages just like it was yesterday
  6. Even if scoring system was changed, how judges choose to score skaters could basically keep everything similar. if we look at how he was scored with his programs pre 18/19 season and how he was scored now, chopin gets virtually the same scores. Look at Zagitova who got 82 pts at PC under the +3/-3 system back then with only triple ltzloop. the idea still stands. she got 82 at worlds19 with the same layout.
  7. I think if he skates to a full program of NDP now the quality would be so much better! Same with Romeo and Juliet 2.0. I think these DW programs didnt do much for him in the past and the choreos were a bit generic, but I think he could bring more details to them now. Thats why even with origin, a program i dont think really fits him, he could still skate very well to it because of the level of skating he has now. He also skated his old programs a lot better at ciontu (but i preferred rj 1.0 original version bc i feel like he performed it better as a 17 yr old) Btw, speaking of him executing impressive elements back then reminds me how much of a scoring circus isu has becoming more and more. considering at the age of 16 he skated to etude with basically similar layout as PW, he got an 82.78 and that was his sb (thats virtually what Zagitova got with triples and no 3a!) While PW got a 101. And okay yes, I agree his skating skills werent on par back then to PW and everything else were lacking in comparison. And okay with Etude Sb his 4T was not good so say he lost a few GOE points. Had he skated etude clean and he would have gotten maybe 88-9 points at judges mercy. But like thats still 13 point gap. But honestly, thats not what Im upset about. what im actually upset about is compared to the ladies in todays field. If we compare him to Alena's sb sp with a less difficult layout, her sb sp received like what? 85+pts? And thats not to mention the pcs for ladies are already leveled with the coefficient as only .8. So converting it to men's scores, she would have scored about 100pts with just triples! Like wth. Not just her but all the ladies with Ultra c layouts. im not saying these ladies are not impressive but you could see how crazy scoring is. So the isu is telling me a 16 yr old with 4t and 3a back in 2011/2012 season is about 20 points less impressive than these ladies?
  8. are also beautiful soundtracks from Studio Ghibli
  9. I have been suggesting this since forever! Finally someone with the same mind! Princess mononoke soundtrack is also great and I feel like has more dynamic for a fs
  10. Id like to see him skate to Les Miserables
  11. I love this forum! Its been a safe haven and I love reading all live comments during competitions. You guys make figure skating 200% more interesting! Happy Planetversary!
  12. im actually surprised and curious as to what drove rusfed to this decision. even with sasha's inconsistency last season, she was still a stronger contender for worlds and never missed the podium even when she bombed (assuming they gave the spots to anna, alena, and zhenya) while zhenya didn't even make it to grand prix final. also, i thought zhenya said she was going to debut as a commentator for worlds? maybe i misread it? --- omgosh i dont think i'm ready for yuzu with bigger muscle, his physique was already a little different since origin 2.0
  13. yeah considering how non Yuzu fans yell at everything he does, id be cautious not to show anything if i were him. im just glad he has always been a ninja and good at managing his own image/pr. i wonder if his crew could do some kind of graphic simulation of his choreo. Im dying to see what he will put out. this cactus season is going to be so long... Actually, Im wondering if he will ever do Black Swan since Plushenko had suggested it to him. But i seriously hope he doesnt.
  14. I think its more about how we disagree/comment on things. I'm totally fine with people having healthy discussions and that's what makes conversations constructive and interesting. I have learned a lot from reading all the different opinions here as well. i just feel like your previous comment toward the OP was a bit much. The fact that the OP did think about how repeated programs would affect scoring for Yuzu didnt necessarily allude to the fact that they think Yuzu wanted to keep up with Chen, thus resulting to being labeled as a Lakernik in disguise. I would have felt super uncomfortable to that remark. Anyway, I'll stop it here as I dont want to make the conversation awkward for anybody else.
  15. easier to name non favorite performances and otherwise, tbh. I think the worst performances are probably the ones where he's still sorta experimenting with them be it layout. probably most start of the season ones.
  16. I remember watching his reaction at the kiss and cry during sochi fs and felt really bad. he was literally sweating and praying and eventho id never followed him, i felt bad. he really showed his vulnerability. and then when the results came out he just said "shit". I just think thats one example that sets him and Yuzu apart. Yuzu would have never reacted that way even when he lost. As much as he has bet his life on skating, sportmanship comes first. With Patrick, even when he was praising Yuzu, it still sounded somewhat condescending. I remember he was like "he felt embarrassed he lost to a new comer with less experience". To me that really didnt sound like he was acknowledging Yuzu's talent but more so focusing on his embarrasment. But when Yuzu lost to someone, he was full of genuine praises for them and acknowledging their win. He then became more motivated to challenge it.
  17. while i think its totally up to Yuzu to choose what music he wants and @henni already phrased how i felt about it, i dont think people expressing that they want new programs from yuzu is always coming from a negative place. From what I understand based on Yuzu's interviews, he did go back to chopin and seimei due to jnats and gpf results. not necessarily because he was afraid hed lose with origin/otonal but more so because he needed to reaffirm his skating direction and those two programs made him feel himself the most (in addition to all his thoughts on trying to master them and bring out his ideal skates). So its not necessarily untrue. the OP probably just genuinely wanted to see new programs and personally, i would too if its up to me. Everyone has their own reasons for wanting new programs/repeated programs from Yuzu but doesnt necessarily mean they will stop supporting his decisions. Im not fully agreeing with the OP on the things she/he said but we're free to express our hopes here. i just think policing every unpopular opinion would make it difficult for members to voice their thoughts on some topics.
  18. It seems like the guy was Peter Carruthers, former NBC commentator. If only someone could do an interview on his take about figure skating scoring corruption and write an article about it, thatd be some tea. I looked him up and he has a facebook
  19. okay thanks. glad i wasnt going crazy. i hope someone could updat Yuzu's wiki
  20. right but they also removed the end of 19/20 altogether on wiki. I get that Yuzu is #1 as of right now (the start of next season) but it looks like they removed the #2 that should have been the concluded world standing as of last season. If I understand it correctly, world standing count is based on a full season so technically, H*rsh wasnt wrong for expecting Nathan to be #1 by the end the season and it looks like there was some misunderstanding between what the OP showed and what he understood. On top of that, Yuzu's wiki is incorrectly updated as well
  21. I genuinely have a question about the world standing It looks like if we take into account 100% 19/20 season 100% 18/19 season 70% 17/18 season Nathan would still be 1st in world standing To me it seems like wiki isnt reflecting it correctly by removing the 2 on Yuzu's world standing with 1 in my opinion, Yuzu's wiki should have shown 1 (20\21 season as of 4.20.2020) since this is taking the start of the season and will continue to be updated throughout next season. as @river pointed out most likely if he is able to compete and medal he will still be #1 with his lead 2 (19/20 season as of end of the season 100% 19/20 season 100% 18/19 season 70% 17/18 season) 3 (18/19 season) If you look at the chart on wiki you will see it counts all 3 full seasons with 18/19 being the the current 1 1 1 1 1 In this case, it does make sense Nathan was still #1 by the end of the 19/20 season, which not to support Hersh in anyway but his expectation made some sense. I just dont want the wiki to be misleading or giving out misinformation. correct me if im wrong but I think Yuzu isnt technically #1 for this world standing year end, but is #1 as of the start of next season. The wiki should be updated to keep his #2 standing?
  22. Hahahahah Phil what less could we have expected from him? One of the most hyprocritical and biased narrators out there in the sport
  23. Sooooo And even when you got 2nd place you got the most questions and media time
  24. I hope history will repeat itself that he will win worlds pre olympic season and win the olympic 🙏 but no more injuries please
