  1. thanks for pulling this interesting stat! I realized that Yuzu also had a couple of pops which were even more costly, so we have to also take that into account.
  2. Yuzu basically saying "if i twist my body then its a backxel. so no im not doing it" man im watching this interview for the first time and im getting such a professional vibe from Yuzu. Our boy has really grown up. We all joke that he looks timeless but his maturity really shone through here. He is basically an expert in his own craft at this point and so ready to move much beyond figure skating. Here he discusses about the technicality of a jump in depth (and in other interviews the trajectory of the sport) like no other skater ive seen. He is just so knowledgeable and invested. To go in such greath length in order to master a technique, this a true student of art and sport. He keeps soaking in the best in order to deliver the best.
  3. it has 55k votes and 47% is Yuzu so thats about 25k already! Please everyone keep voting to show the power of Yuzu. this is a chance to promote Yuzu while the olympic hype has begun. tho some comments are so ignorant i cant
  4. I definitely could see how these two battle each other out. What Heaven and Earth is missing right now is a win at a large competition for it to be recognized as much as it should be. And I think the 4a has def completed the program much more than the 4loop did. If he skates it well at Beijing, itd def going to be considered one of his most iconic free skates, which means itd be one of the most iconic free skates of all time like seimei is. I think Seimei is just that program that, even if you arent aware of the story of the program or into japanese culture or the music, it hooks you in. A few more reasons why it is such a fan fave, other than the fact that its masterfully choreographed and skated, are 1) it was during Yuzu's golden era. It was the program he broke insane records with. Not that he has past his prime but injuries and underscoring shenanigans have really took a toll on fans and him over the past few seasons. He wasnt able to skate 2 clean programs at bigger competitions due to the aforementioned reasons as well as the fact that his programs have only gotten more difficult. He kept reinventing himself in ways only his fans appreciate but these were often overlooked by the increasing demanding audience, resulting to underscoring and ultimately leading to a less impressive feat. While he did skate clean with H&E, the competitions he didnt skate well with this program were the international ones where it unfortunately mattered more. Now that he replaced the 4loop with 4a, it def brought out more buzz than it did before. All he has to do now is land it cleanly and WIN with it at Beijing. 2) Seimei sticks with him longer so its easy to get why most fans still have more affection for Seimei. Its also I guess the first fs that displays Japanese strength, which makes it very Yuzu. And many non fans would just ignorantly see H&E as Seimei 2.0 3) finally, its also just as personal to Yuzu. I think he mentioned before its his favorite program, didnt he? I think Yuzu believes in this program so much that he brought it back many times along with Ballade no. 1. It gives him comfort. personally I still prefer Seimei even if it has a less difficult layout. in fact, it has overtaken H&L for me over the years. Its a program that even if he isnt clean is still enjoyable and iconic. i think seimei was skated to its full potential even when he never skated clean with the upgraded layouts. whereas to me H&E requires him to skate clean or at least as well as he did at nats 2021 where he was still on his feet. otherwise, it loses its rhythm and flow really quickly. Its a bit like H&L in that regards but requires even higher focus and perfection. The most perfect performance of it in terms of jumps and all is still nationals 20 but component wise was at wtt. Im still waiting for a perf that makes me say, "this is it. this is the performance he will be fully satisfied with"
  5. Yeah I had a hard time choosing too! If we look at each one of them, we can see how colorful and unique they all are. Each one is a masterpiece of its own.
  6. Sorry if I missed any programs. He has too many beautiful gala programs so I cant add all so Im just putting the ones that get the most mentions from fans. Please vote! p.s. laughing at the short classic. all in blue costumes!
  7. Plushenko mistakenly said Patrick Chan instead of Nathan Chen. whether it was Chanflation or Chenflation, our Yuzu lived through it 😂
  8. I think origin costume has a better top cut, right? its more proportionate to his body, it didnt cut short at the waist. Otonal 1.0 was my least favorite post pyeongchang costume or perhaps i should say the least favorite senior costume. Otonal 2.0 was a bit better. comes Rondocapu and its now my 2nd least favorite despite there may be a story to it. it would have been okay if not for the striking similarities with the previous costumes. The choker collar was refreshing but the swanyu neck, color scheme, and middle parts were unrefreshing. It just really didnt feel rondocapu at all. He doesnt have to believe in red but maybe a different style? I saw a pic of the olympic towers from eagle view and the color scheme is exactly like this costume as expected -- it was blue and gold. off topic -- every year when a new russian lady became dominant, i keep seeing comments saying she is on par with Yuzu, starting from Zhenya's era. It just made me Like cant they see how short lived these ladies' careers are? And to say Kamila's PCS or jumps are as good as Yuzu or even better just because of some crazy scorings. do they really think a 15 yr old with that amount of experience comparable to someone with double the skating experience? cant they see these ladies' pcs and goes get capped so early bc the fed knows their career wont be too long to grow anymore? wow the propaganda really brainwash them, doesnt it? at least i can safely assume we wont see those comments after another year or two about her when a new Kamila comes into senior in time for the next olympic. though its gonna be a new russian lady vs Yuzu (lol i can imagine even when every else retires Yuzu will still stand with his two calloused ankles) Russian satelites, please enlighten me is the general russian public really buying into it? is there any part of the audience still reasonable?
  9. I agree. maybe -2 would have been a better assessment. i dont know the rulebook so not sure if a downgrade or two foot landing should automatically be given a -5 or not. but its not like the judges follow the rulebook anyway
  10. will there be a new winter olympic theme?
  11. No wonder he reminds me of rj Yuzu (i hope im talking about the right guy here). His jumps are huge and he also has this wrecklessness and freedom in his skating. I like that he talks about the movements and small accents in Seimei rather than the jumps
  12. Im not sure if the hype leading up to the olympic would entirely do him any good tho. the last two olympics he came in as the underdog and won. i was hoping he stays out of the limelight a bit. whenever there were doubts for him his resolve got stronger. one thing i also know is Nathan often bombed under immense pressure. im afraid his two gp skates may be the only two "lowballed" events that came in the right time for him this season. we'll see how he does at us nats. if its also bad then we know the pressure is really getting to him. but who knows he could pull a worlds zagitova at beijing
  13. I wonder if lets say Nathan bombs at beijing and Vincent stays on his feet, will he be a second sotnikova? 20-30 pt inflation incoming. my mentality approaching this game is "expect the worst, prepare for the best"
  14. yeah and didn't he want the wind feeling? I think doing 3a3loop and then 3turn into a 3flip would achieve the same effect if not better!
  15. The fact that the 4A isn't 15 in bv still pisses me off. It seems to be double in difficulty compared to a triple axel. Even if it's downgraded it should have been given 10 BV instead of 8. but again if it's that much higher in bv, i bet we'd be seeing people cheating this jump just as much as a 4lz makes me sad that scoring is all about the agenda...nothing more, nothing less
  16. I truly think he was robbed of the right score last year..his pcs was so much better. should have gotten higher goe and pcs which would have given him about 220. I think this year the pcs was okay but the goe was also quite lowballed on some elements. btw, am i imagining or is his costume more green this year putting the two side by side
  17. i like how nbc headline says "Yuzuru attempts 4a" lol they had to make sure to put this. imagine if it were their skater "triple world champion Nathan Chen becomes the first ever to land quad axel at first comeback and clinches 6th world title"
  18. Its still national panel but i have a feeling they felt he was still their best shot after so many years. They were betting on shoma but he never actually won against Nathan until this season (nathan bombed). And Shoma even missed the podium many times. Then they started to bet on Yuma, but even with those candies, his scores even at his best realistically were no where near Nathan's. So seeing Yuzu's new weapon, they could only bet a clean Yuzu is their best chance. Even so I think the scores at nationals were only a bit better than last year nationals. He was robbed last year of a 330. I think they were only slightly more generous this year. not sure how he would get judged at olympic though. this tbh. beijing seems pretty anticlimatic
  19. Someone on twitter pointed out that Yuzu shouldnt have given judges an escape plan by saying he has to land a 4a to win. I actually agree with this. Yuzu shouldnt be giving himself this pressure for no reason. altho i doubt judges care to go read his interviews. I find that this more so would apply to anti fans. they would def use this against him. but oh well haters gonna hate. and life works in mysterious way for Yuzu so I guess I should just trust him that he can do it. I admit I thought he would pop or fall on the 4a underrotated but he stayed on his feet. but yeah I find it so amusing how japanese interviewers (and im sure they had better intentions) were so quick to make Yuzu point out he had an underrotated and 2 foot 4a landing after his practice. Like come on, do you really have to ask him to confirm this? Why are you always making him confirm himself so judges would have reasons to call them? not that i want judges to be corrupted but the point is the culture of self criticsm is beyond me. It reminds me of one of the interviews post world championship 2019 where they showed him his protocol against nathan's. re: oympic -- Personally, I wouldnt rely on Nathan to bomb anything or not to get candies. He did only lose once over the past 4 seasons. But I also do not think adding quads would help Yuzu either considering his past few seasons. I think the best strategy for Yuzu is a cross between doing what he really wants to do the most (incorporating 4a) and what he does best (focus on the qualitity and jumping the jumps he can realistically do without killing his stamina). We have to still remember as solid as his form seemed to be at nationals, he is prone to injury any moment. To add quad lutz or quad loop is not realistic given he only has 1 month left to land his 4a. I think even a month isnt enough to land a ratified 4a. (tbh i wish he ditches it and goes for it at worlds but Yuzu is Yuzu) 4a (2 ft and ur) is the most realistic we can hope atm 4s stable jump so no reason to ditch it 3a3loop (i think this is the most reasonable new jump to add since it doesnt disrupt the flow. he just have to take his time) 3lutz\3flip - cant imagine this would be harder than a 4a so why not add them of this is the best bet to up the bv 4t eu 3 sal or 3 flip (if he goes for 3 lz then he has another opportunity here to include 3flip) 4t3t 3a (or switch this with 3a3loop for 2nd half bonus) At this point I think Ive already accepted the possibility that even if both skate clean, Yuzu with this layout will not win if Nathan skates clean with 5 or 6 quads. But I hope a part of Yuzu will still feel the victory of landing a ratified 4a at the olympic. And I think fandom will know who is the winner.
  20. lol at that old man covering his ears
  21. hahaha gurl watch when he yolos that 4a3loop
  22. Is it time for guess the layout?! haha I am so excited I cant sleep without thinking of a thousand possibilites that could happen. anyway, I actually like the fact that H&E has more breathing room than Origin so he could try to plan difficult jump even in the 2nd half. Also back then I always thought the hardest jump should be the starting jump, but his layout at gpf19 has 4loop at the beginning (lol we all know 4loop is hard). i feel like he has higher success with 4loop at judges' left side of the rink than the right, could be muscle memory. Also, I feel like if he could succeed at landing his first 6 jumps, his goe and pcs might suffer less even if final jump failed. So rather than putting the 4a at the front and fall, I feel like if he does the 4a at the end after succeeding his first 6 jumps it would be super unexpected and excited. I mean yes its risky but even if he falls, we know he could still podium. Its like saving the best for last. If he does the 4a at the beginning and fall, he might risk getting hurt and wasting a lot of energy. Yuzu usually sets the tone of his program with his first 3 jumps, if he lands the first 2 quads most likely he can land the rest bc he has stable 3a and 4t. In the 2nd half, he could try to stack the combos closer together and eliminate some of the transitional choreo like the back spiral before going into the final 4a. that would allow him more time to set up for nessie. A layout I would like to see him attempt but probably will never happen 4Loop 4Lutz 3A3T (please get rid of counter entry it aint worth it) twizzle 3A twizzle 4T2T 4Teuler3F or 4T eul 3S 4A but realistically I doubt he would go for this layout unless he was pushed to the corner. He might do something much closer to what he did at nationals if Nathan did not do as well in the sp but I dont see that happening given his score over the seasons and his consistency. I think as long as Nathan lands his jumps he wouldnt get less than 108 given his bv and reputation. And Nathan is someone who will also go all out at bigger competitions so he could do 5quads or even 6 if he must. but regardless of what Nathan will do in the free or in the short, I really think Yuzu should bring back his lutz and flips for his triples to not create unnecessary base value gap against Nathan. If its just bc he wants the feeling of wind that he does the 3loop then I think its not practical. He could easily do a 3 turn into a 3flip or even a twizle 3a, which imo would create the same effect. (but yeah idc if he loses here give me my nessie! 😭) anyway, this is more of what I guess he might do at worlds. I think its close enough to his skate canada19 layout, which he succeeded. 4loop 4Sal 3lz 3A 4t3T 4Teul3f 3A2T
  23. Wow I really cant believe world is happening soon. This season I am less concerned with Yuzu winning. Maybe unpopular opinion but I actually would like to see he attempt 4A competitively. It has been 3 season since he has really talked about wanting to do the 4A in competition. World is important but how many more competitions will we get to have him in? Even if he doesnt succeed here, thats fine Id like him to get that image of the 4a at an actual competition. Also, I really cannot wait to see how much LMEY and H&E have progressed.
