  1. Takahashi was placed fifth in the 2013 Japanese nationals. Yuzu beat all the other Japanese men by a huge margin. He is also the Japanese skater with the highest SP score back then, second only to Patrick Chan. It is impossible that Japan would not send him to the Olympics in favour of their bronze medalist Oda or fifth-placed Takahashi. Yuzu was also ranked world no. 1 back then, yes, even before winning the grand prix final.
  2. Even if he didnt make the GPF in 2013, he would have made the Japanese Olympic team based on the Japanese Nationals results. Who could Japan have sent if not Hanyu?
  3. Out of topic, but can anyone here tell me which jump, 4Lz or 4Lo puts more strain on the right foot?
  4. Yuzu's PCS went up when he was the reigning olympic champion in 2014. He had 5 falls in coc and still managed to score PCS of over 80. Then his "inconsistencies" - losing the gold in worlds 2015 and 2016 and all his first GP events before 2018- affected his reputation in a negative way so judges started to underscore him. PCS is reputation-based. Just give Zagitova some time and the judges will start to score her less generously when Trusova etc go senior.
  5. This shows that Yuzu appreciates good techniques. And this is probably the reason he does not watch the ladies. Imo.
  6. You can forget how to ride a bike. I am one example. Lol.
  7. Sorry for late reply. I don't think Dai can rotate as fast as Nathan. Brian once said, "You can't teach an old dog new trick", which I agree, but the new trick is worth learning imo. At least it is much easier than jumping high and far.
  8. I think Mishin is merely stating his observations. Nathan's fast rotations is his key to landing consistent quads- he does not have to go for huge horizontal speed and superb height (like Yuzu) to achieve the required no. of rotations, hence the stability. (And we know that judges reward consistency with high GOE)
  9. Mishin once said that the whole world will be studying Nathan's jumps. He also praised Yuzu for good jumping techniques then went on and said that Yuzu rotates slower immediately after taking off into the air and then faster towards the end. On the other hand, Nathan rotates fast the moment he takes off into the air, which allows stability.
  10. Though both Alina's programs are warhorses, they are very different from what she skated last season. I think that is better than skaters that skate to the same type of music year in year out. And what if those warhorses are in fact Alina's own choice, just like how Anna Karenina & River Flows in You were Zhenya's choices, and POTO was Yuzu's choice?
  11. A smile in a sad song makes the song sadder.
  12. This is the best time for Yuzu to break the curse and win his first Skate Canada gold aka his first gold in his first GP event... LOL...
  13. Not equally in sync because his movements precede the music by a fraction of a second (watch the pianist ), but yeah, this has better sound quality.
  14. The music here is not completely in sync with his hydroblade though. This one is in sync:
