Yeah we can make a banner! Not sure if we'll get enough messages for an entire book, but certainly we can try (with the caveat that we need enough messages to fill a book...lol...would be sad if it was a very blank book :tumblr_inline_n18qr5AMus1qid2nw:) A small amount of fanart would be awesome, too.

As for the starbucks giftcards, are there starbucks in toronto? I thought tim hortons was like, the starbucks of Canada haha? We could get 10-20 $10 giftcards, just to make the point that the gift is for the whole team, bc god knows how many people are involved in creating champions. my friend in toronto also suggested the Toronto Zoo and Ontario Science Centre, which he said was fun not just for kids for for adults too, but for people who live in Toronto they may have already been (but maybe someone hasn't?)

And I think we could definitely do miscellaneous food items, like cheese! Although it'd have to be factory wrapped because (1) it needs to be mailed, and (2) who wants to eat it otherwise?? Haha

Agree with all ideas. We should consult all Canadian fans and friends/colleagues on popular shops there; zoo and science center sound fun! And I am sure Yuzu hasn’t been there neither - just imagine someone living there for years and doesn’t visit Niagra Falls!

We can mail whole package from someone in Canada. Or to save money - hand deliver? I myself will be visiting Toronto offfice in summer, but I hope we don’t wait till that late though!

I want to help with this project, Sounds like a great idea! :tumblr_inline_n18qraikFP1qid2nw:

Lol, i also thought of Starbucks Gift cards, we could send enough for all the Team to enjoy... i think the wine could also be a good idea, and to get our feelings across making a "Book" of Messages as some already suggested Sounds pretty good, each one could send a small paragraph saying Thank you And appreciating all the effort, we could mention things they do that we like, etc. And add Name and country, and a Photo or artwork, if they want.

We need a banner that can be hanged, I want our URL to be seen... hahaha :tumblr_inline_mqt4grU8ua1qz4rgp:

Haha agree with all points, although I'm not sure if movie voucher works either, but...something that can be passed around would certainly be nice! Coffee giftcards? Tim Hortons? XD What do people use that comes in small, shareable increments, not weird, and would brighten someone's lives?

It's Starbucks gift card for me :P and this is not a commercial.  I actually also love to pair wine with cheese, however we have no control on how long we have to wait for them to open the gift so that doesn't work neither.... now imagine Brian slicing cheese, that's even more absurd. Back to movie voucher, if we get enough, the whole team and their family get to watch the Pooh movie

Oh, why am I not surprised that TCC has a spa? :smiley-laughing021: Canadian ice wine is delicious, although Brian lives in Toronto so I'm sure he has tasted his share, but there's no harm in more wine, right? As for the spa giftcard, the reason I thought of that was when I tried to think of things that Team TCC needs, the first thing that popped into my head was something relaxing . But instead of a spa, hm who knows, a voucher for a hotel getaway? Something they can use on vacation? XD

I love the wine idea. However I don't like travel voucher neither because we have no idea how many people are working behind the team. How are we going to divide the voucher? I'd rather prefer stuff that can be enjoyed by virtually anyone. Maybe those movie vouchers with no expiration dates ( I have no idea if Canada has those or not, but I gift those to teachers all the time, they seem to love it)? I can't imagine Brian with a stack of movie vouchers and hand them out for free though ....

Anyways whatever we decide it needs to be implemented rather soon, since we also have to gather signatures and messages maybe(?). And this has to arrive TCC before season starts I guess.

Banner is certainly a must, and if we want to keep it simple, we can get a big message in the middle, and surrounded by our signatures maybe? This way scanning and translation is all simplified. I'd also suggest we print out website URL there .... a URL that leads to a loving family ~~~

I think we should really do this ^_^ because the way that TCC treated and protected Yuzu this season was really above and beyond, and the results showed. Brian, Tracey, Ghislain, and the rest of TCC staff really put their heart and soul into their skaters' health, happiness, and success, not just for medals.

I think we should do something simple:

    - Ice wine?

    - Spa gift cards for spas in Toronto? We can use Yelp, or if anyone lives in Toronto can make some recommendations ^_^

    - A thank you banner, not a huge one, but something simple that can be hung up in an office? Maybe with messages from lots of Yuzu fans?

Whatever we are gonna do I am in.  However I think TCC has its own spa service and it might be personal preference dependent compared to ice wine. The only person that I know of, from that team, who doesn’t drink wine is Yuzu, but he is out of subject here

Well... I suppose you have a point about immature fans becoming zealots (just different haters) instead of protectors of the innocent... I really hate that there's some truth in that... most haters don't even realize they're haters... I just pray that those of us who know the difference can take action and not remain silent.

It becomes my daily routine, to go on twitter and report malicious and untruthful posts about Yuzu. There is no need for any education here because many of those posts are simply pure evil speculation that are told as fact, there is no missing information or understanding here, only lies and spreading lies. I never leave a single comment because they don't deserve any words.

I watched a snapshot of the imitator on weekend, IMO he is so so so low. I never watched the full video because it doesn't deserve my time. I understand he is trying to make a living and many people go extra (with much cost) to get relatively famous before they can really do their stuff; however this is way below my standard of decency.  The fact that Yuzu is a celebrity doesn't entitle anyone the right to act like this, whether Yuzu tolerates/enjoys it is one thing, whether someone should do it is another.  You walk on Strip of Las Vegas and see imitators of Optimus, friendly wave and picture you pay tip; if that Optimus is laughing hysterically and dances crazy, my kiddo would go right up and tell him to stop doing this because you are a fake.

Wasn't there an interview with Yuzu where he was asked about that convo and iirc, he said that the point he was trying to make when he asked "Just good boy?" was that he wasn't a boy anymore and so should have been "good man" or something, and then Brian misunderstood so he followed with "amazing boy"?

Please do correct me if i remembered wrong. I don't quite trust my memory. :headdesk2:

I’ve said good boy to my dog so many times in our lives together, that every time I hear it I start to think about him. Although he passed away few years ago. Whenever I watch sports and hear coaches saying it I start to have this wired impression that next minute they will hold out a treat in hand. Anyways that’s just me and I only carry this habit with good boy but not good girl. Now I start to miss my dear friend at the other end of the rainbow again <3

  9. In contrast to this chocolate ad I really think he should do a commercial for fast food and drink. It’d be natural to dip French fries in ketchup - super easy, no brainer, and no worry about weight gain!

Re tossing a rice cooker onto the ice for Yuzuru: as per icecreamy above, I agree you will need a lot of bubble wrap and foam.

And someone standing near the rinkside - or someone who is good at shotput! And be very careful to not hit anyone when you throw it (unlike those Poohs that have been seen to land on Yuzuru's head, or fly near it). Or you could use something like a fishing rod, and lower it down to him in the K&C area? :smiley-laughing021: Might be safer, and become a moment of posterity on TV!

So yea, it's doable if not necessarily practical or standard!

*edited since icecreamy beat me to it*

Sounds more doable, I do have plenty of strong fishing lines. Also we should purchase mini cooker instead of the big ones, because when mama Hanyu is around I am sure he is well covered. So he only needs single portion. I have a mini slow cooker like this. My mom always laughs at it since it does look like a toy.

We should also write on the cover that this is “life saving” purpose

Is this something that can be throw onto the ice? :P

We will wrap it up in layers of bubble foam and top it with golden foil paper (um, I suppose this is available somewhere). I am sure it will be so shiny he will not miss it!

They sell thin bowls that can be placed on top of rice so you can cook rice and one more dish at the same time. However I am a non-rice person in general so I used to cook soup and a dish with it. Um.. I am hungry now.

Rice cookers are amazing. Mine can even make soup and boil meat and stuff. =D

Unfortunately I don’t think he uses your technology bud. I read somewhere, but that was quite a while back, that he resorted to packets of cooked rice while competing somewhere that cooked rice differently.  According to the writing those packets are designed for emergency purpose like earthquake.

LOL was bcs I can't understand what there to discuss. First - it's no one business, second I don't find it strange. Like at all. It's common for Japanese and Korean culture to live with parents. Also, in Russia we usually do the same.

Zhenya moves to Toronto with mom in the mid-June after all Japanese shows. It was confirmed by Borser and Zhenya's mom.

This is actually quite common in many cultures. There is no point to judge without considering the specific circumstance and needs. Independence is complicated; it does include living without protection/help from parents, however what's more important than that is making decisions on one's own and financially independent. I have to say that a lot of people nowadays focus way too much on the former, yet so in lack of the latter, which are actually far more important than whom you live with. In Yuzu's case, he's quite independent if you consider the latter standards.

Javier's case doesn't add up here neither, because I am pretty sure it's easier for him language wise, culture wise and most importantly, cuisine wise, to adjust from Spain to Toronto. For Yuzu, he really needs to eat food that caters to his preference in order to carry on daily training; I totally support and thank for to his mom on making such sacrifice.  Otherwise he would have to learn to cook, find all kinds of Asian grocery stores, drive to mediocre restaurant? Been there done that myself I don't think it helps him at all to achieve what he aims for in Toronto.

The person that can be compared to him might be Lang Lang. When he travels around the world to play piano, mom is usually on the side taking care of him. Neither of them are baby-ish, they just need someone to take care of daily chores so they can focus on their job, and that someone happens to be the most trusted and loving person in the world - mom.

I guess you meant he mentally supports us and not us mentally support him, hahahahahaha, sounds quite sustainable!

I don't follow Japanese fandom, but some sections of Chinese fandom does (still a small minority to be fair).  What is interesting about Chinese fandom is that the female fandom is very young, most of the ones I've met IRL are the 19-26 age bracket. Relatively speaking, he's in their age range, and well in China, thanks to the education system, that's usually when you start thinking about issues like boyfriends and types etc. And frankly, let's admit it, Yuzu is probably something like an ideal type to plenty of ladies in that age range: smart-check, not bad looking-check, considerate enough-check, good family background-check.

The idea of being attracted to his looks first, then his skating and stayed for his skating and character, is kind of how a lot of IRL fans I know of got into him. But there is also a line between the possessive ones, and the ones who joke that he's their "hubby" but only in the "he's everyone's hubby" type of way. The latter view, that Yuzu is everyone's husband to be shared, is more common. It's a bit of a safe projection type I guess, a bit like chasing after a shoujo manga male lead.

What's amusing to me is there are classification of types of fans. Apparently I fall on the "polygamous" camp, since I've openly declared that I like other skaters too, including some skaters who are his rivals, and would actually defend some of them. A lot of the ones I've met fall into the "protective mother hen" camp, in that they are curious about his private life, but generally accept what he does and would defend him from any type of harm. I think most of the ones I've met are the protective mother hen type, and uh, they don't get along with the super possessive fans. >_>

Age range of that group spans from 16-college, maybe. I can’t imagine ladies older than that would mentally process an athlete into more of a hubby role, as this fascianation actually bears little into what he actually achieved and is pursuing. I can’t deal with those categorization and discrepancies so I am using Weibo as a source for translation material; there are other skaters I follow and cheer on, although some might be Yuzu’s opponent; and I really want Yuzu to keep winning. That’s the beauty of sports, and I guess part of him, as a skater, would want more people to start appreciate figure skating in general. Being able to appreciate and respect other skaters is help the sport grow healthy.

However, there is no bias here. As long as everyone supports Yuzu positively and not drawing false media attention, it’s all good

I just showed my sister the Chinese Vogue article that featured Yuzu's costumes just so she could choose which one was her favorite. She was shook when we got to the Believe costume from FaOI   I then showed her the actual performance so she could see the costume in motion. She said her favorite costume is probably Hana ni Nare. And she said Yuzu has the most beautiful costumes out of the male skaters :devilYuzu:

My favorite part of that article, is an analysis of why those costumes fit so well on him. The author wrote that Yuzu's peculiar youthful temperament and slim body line naturally absorbs the feminine elements of some of his costumes, and that becomes one of his personal traits.  Through those costumes he somehow conveys well-balanced beauty that combines the heroic side of masculine and softness of feminine  - not precise translation, but pretty close . Whenever I see those costumes,  I don't just see beautiful chiffon, crystals and even feathers,  I also see Yuzu beam in them.  Male skaters costumes can be quite a topic, if it's too simple you get people talking; if it's too fancy people talk about it too. Yet among all those talks IMO there is one un-deniable fact, that Yuzu is the only make skater who truly fit into those costumes.  Not that I don't appreciate other skaters and their artist representation and costumes, but what this article captured is truly one of a kind.

Can I just say, Plushenko didn't answer TWO of the three questions he was asked directly. Not the one about how he handled the bashing during Plushenko vs Yagudin drama, nor the one about who was his hero as he started skating. Instead he focused on Yuzu and gushed about him, thus making him forget what was the question in the first place, probably :P

Yuzu in the end: "he said what I wanted to hear the most"

Maybe Yuzu has him as a role model in that aspect as well, when it comes to dodging the questions

My take on this, if it’s a regular reporter who asked this he would give a more plain and complete answer. But it’s Yuzu, so he only needed to answer the portion Yuzu needs to take in. In a way I think he answered it all, when you love a sport that dearly and hold on to it for the majority span of your life you really can’t care much about the bashing anymore, so it takes much lower priority on his handling list maybe.

This is what worries me.  Yuzuru has probably the most difficult while reliable triple axel in history.  What is the quad going to do to his triple?

This is quite a valid question IMO. I remember during one of the interviews he commented that he couldn't do a 3T that well nowadays because he's used to the force and feelings of 4T (or it could be a 2T to 4T, I can't really remember). Anyway the way he explained it was that in order to land well he needs to totally tighten his body yet since less rotation is needed he would let it go "loose" to rotate less, and that presents a problem during landing because body is not tightened enough. That's the reason of some falls in ice shows, where jumps with fewer rotations might present problems, and need to be worked on.

However I am not that worried about his truly beautiful triple axel, even if it needs to be reconstructed due to quad axel - Yuzu said it, he will nail it and I trust him. In one of the American commentaries/ice talks, I once heard someone bashing that Yuzuru is of course done after OG, because there is no reason for him to stay since he has it all. (AND no pick on me, I don't have any hate nor discontent on this comment, just look at my profile and you will see)  Although I am personally not in favor of such tone of dismissal and judgement, in a way Yuzu paid his dues, he paid it so completely now that he has every reason to experiment and re-engineer all his jumps in whatever way he wants to.

  21. 1 hour ago, cinemacoconut said:

But then I heard other opinons just now in other sites.

They say if Yuzu told the media he wants to land 4A, then he has been practicing for many years and is very very close to landing it in competitions. They say yuzu never speaks out unless he is confident about something. Which means he doesn't really need 2 seasons to land 4A because it has already come to a finished state in secret.

Just posting what they said. What do you guys think of this theory?

Even if he had been practicing 4A for quite some time and is really close to landing in competitions, I don't think it's at a matured/ready-to-ship state as of now. Especially after the injury sustained on landing foot. Yuzu and his team does conceal/hint/re-phrase things strategically when it comes to competitions and winning, however I feel that he is quite open and honest when expressing his goals. Even at very young age he talked about winning OG in front of reporters (and many just ignored him at the time), to him it's a way for formalizing his goal so that he would start pursuing it with full speed. IMO the mentioning of 4A or even 5A is more on the materializing things-to-work on side.

I also feel that Yuzu himself is going through some mental work after olympic winning. As Orser put it one needs some time to digest OG and figure out the next step of plan. I personally feel that his tone of continuing becomes stronger and more determined as his foot heals and also as more praises and nods received from many sources including his hero and fans. Anyway that's just my feeling. As someone who has never seen him compete live I do wish him a speedy and steady recovery, and also competes not just a little longer but much longer, as long as he's contended; however as a fanyu his personal health and happiness weighs the most in my heart.
