  1. I'd like to know what Plushenko said in the video (43:30). Has it been subbed?
  2. An interview with Nanami Sensei about the evolution of figure skating in Sendai and Japan overall. Yuzu is briefly mentioned. With Google Translate I could understand the gist of it.
  3. Yuzu: Going all the way to London for something totally not skate-related!?
  4. If you look at the personalities on Japanese TV programs, young or old, anchors or guests, you'll find they generally wear much better fitted suits. One clear example of an ill-fitted suit on Yuzu was the light-colored one he wore after winning his first Olympic Gold. In that case, the primary reason why it didn't fit was (I think) his special body type. He is just too slender for most suits to fit him unless it's made based on his measurements.
  5. I have the same question about his often ill-fitting suits. He could afford having his suits tailor-made, and I have no doubt there are plenty of excellent tailors in Japan. Hence another hypothesis: he simply doesn't care. For things he cares about, he is a perfectionist; for all the others, it's just "whatever." I'm surprised, though, that mama Hanyu who has made several cases for his water bottles that went with his costumes, hasn't seemed to paid similar attention to the suits he wear in public. Or, could Yuzu be resistant, like, why do I have to care about it?
  6. My hypothesis: No, he is not human. He just once in a while seemingly casually does something that resembles us to trick us into thinking he is. This is the only explanation that makes sense to me for the things he does and the way he thinks and behaves. Anyhow, we could still aspire to be more Yuzu-like.
  7. Yuzu looks better than the instructor from the get-go. His awareness of his own body, including how to move to look graceful, is mind-blowing.
  8. Do we have a compilation of various ways his name has been mispronounced somewhere? I think this one tops them all.
  9. You nailed it. Taking full ownership of his programs is one major thing that sets him apart. He is so obsessed on this to the point an aura can’t help but hovering over his head. His purity is like 24K gold. Nothing could touch it. It just shines. I’m always in awe when I watch him even if it’s “just” some practice.
  10. Does this video have English sub somewhere?
  11. Is anyone aware of any English sub of the following two-part video? I wonder what the commentator 町田樹 said in seeing Yuzu do only single jumps and one 3A without any runthrough in his first appearance on ice after the 3-months recovering period before PyeongChang.
  12. Has this video been translated anywhere? Edit: found a summary of it:
  13. I'm not entirely sure about @Hydroblade's idea about what the deliverable might look like. With a concrete example of what the Sendai video looks, I'm more inclined toward this idea. And, it needs not be mutually exclusive. Regardless, let me know the parameters of inputs from people you'd like. For example, if you're thinking about making something similar to what's in the video by people from Sendai, would you like a specific length of video from each person? How about dimensions of the paper to write on? File formats of the video you can process? Whether or not people show their faces (I think another video by the Sendai people don't show their faces?) When at the latest you'd need each individual video file? Where to send or upload the file? Maybe I'm overcomplicating things here. But I thought some people might find it useful to have a clear guideline.
  14. How will the messages be delivered? Printed and bound as a book? PDF file? Color? Or a video like this 羽生結弦 応援PROJECT video by his hometown people? I love the video, which is the most heart-warming thing I've seen.
  15. Exactly! why couldn't they let us watch them practice? And, we need practice, too, on how not to faint seeing Haru yo koi live. I hope they will change their mind.
  16. We're not going to see GPF gala practice???!!! How come???!!! It's but ... but ... Should we start a petition?
  17. Another scenario: Yuzu just won his 5th GPF gold medal. At gala practice, he's so happy he debuts Nessie. Everybody gasps. Dead silence ... ... before screaming erupts.
  19. Exactly! That's why it's called "nessie." Seeing even "just" 5% gets my blood pumping fast. I wonder if he'll debut it in a gala practice.
  20. Thanks for sharing your personal story. I'm glad that you find consolation in watching Yuzu skate. I do, too. I lost my mother to cancer in an autumn decades ago, and her name has "autumn" in it. Otonal resonates with me in a special way perhaps for these reasons. Just yesterday I read on this forum that Yuzu skated Notte Stellata in 2017 Worlds thinking about coach Orser's then recently deceased father. His empathy to others' suffering touches me. I hope you'll find strength in the serenity of this slow-motion Otonal that I recorded.
  21. This Washington Post article (about Adam Rippon) calls Nathan Chen "the quadruple Axel King." They should know better. I don't intend to send traffic to the article. If you don't have any interest in posting a comment following the article, don't bother to read it. Be warned, it's very long.
