I also thinking he would want to go to NHK. If he doesn't want traveling too much perhaps skate Canada. Will Patrick continue to compete or retire? I don't want Yuzu to go to idF because.... plastic medals, disco podium, bad ice, also no flags

Patrick Chan officially retired after the PC Olympics.

idF sounds terrible, particularly with the plastic medals.

I'd gander that Yuzu will likely be going to SkC and NHK if he's able to, and chances are despite being out a majority of the season his OGM will make hosts want to invite him.

I don't know if this issue has been addressed, but has there been any hard news or speculation as to whether Yuzu might go to Milan to observe the proceedings there?  I really don't think he should since actually he'd be somewhat of a distraction there if he did go.  Actually my hope is that he's spending these next few weeks at home in Japan with his family.  When it finally looks like he can get back on the ice, that's when he heads back to Toronto.

As a side note, could some of the hostility against Yuzu in Japan be because he's not training there but in Canada?  Just wondering.

I don't think any speculation or hard news has come about him possibly going to Milan as a spectator. I personally don't think he would attend because doing so would kind of take the attention away from the skaters competing and put it on him merely by being there, which is something I can see Yuzu trying to avoid. The people competing, even if they may be alternates, have worked hard to be able to compete there and I don't think he'd want to take the attention away from them, where it should be.

It's a possibility that that's where some of the hostility is coming from but at the same time it seems unlikely. Figure skaters move to other countries to train under coaches from different countries all the time. It's pretty much normal to do so. Plus whenever a skater changes coaches and/or moves to a different country it's usually because they feel they've gone as far as they can under the coach they had and are moving to continue to better their craft. In the end isn't that what people would want for an athlete representing their country, to do whatever possible to improve themselves?

Yuzu is so popular. I believe any federation want him. but idk about SkA. They have Nathan and I think USFS don't want him to compete with yuzu there...?

The USFS likely wouldn't want Yuzu there since that would make Nathan getting the gold there less likely. Since Chen has started on the senior level Yuzu hasn't competed at SkA. I did a general google search to see how many times he's competed at SkA and he's only gone there once (2012) so it's probably VERY unlikely he'll get assigned to SkA, solely because he's hardly ever gone there. CoR and NHK seem to like him though, NHK isn't surprising and it's likely a preference of Hanyu's.

  4. Whoops I accidentally misread the question and answered the wrong option. I just saw the "how did you become a fan of Yuzu" and just saw the season years and none of those worked for how I became a fan of him.

Like many others here on the forum probably, I got introduced, or rather reintroduced, to figure skating through the anime "Yuri on Ice". A few episodes in, I decided to look up the schedule and see when events were and who were men's figure skaters who were currently competing that were really good, and of course I saw Yuzu come up a lot. Funny enough, the 2016 Grand Prix Final in Marseilles was the very next night so I decided to give it a watch so the first program of his I saw was Let's Go Crazy. While that program wasn't clean, I was absolutely mesmerized by his performance. A couple days later I saw his Hope and Legacy program and was completely won over.

no wonder I've been seeing this charm a lot on my feed lol the power of the troll :muahaha:

That actually is a really pretty charm and I kind of want one now!

@cinemacoconut I watched a couple of the videos and they are really nice quality! You've got a new sub. :glasses:

Great - it worked! Thanks so much!

Yep. Apparently 2000 "Samantha girls"  pooled their $ into this. (Are these loyal customers or employees, I can't tell) I'm impressed - it's not a top-down directive from some far-sighted marketer at all. They are still thinking about where to put them (the boots), but they said that it will be somewhere with lots of visitors (to raise awareness about 3.11).

I'm so impressed that 2000 people managed to raise like... 80 thousand bucks. They're so generous!

I believe it was said that all of the people who pooled their money were employees of the company from all over the world.

That's really good to hear they're going to put the boots in a place that gets lots of visitors so they can raise awareness about 3.11.

I also love this one :13877886: and the deep sea miku figure has always been on my "i kinda want it" list :13877886:

I'll have to live on a very strict budget but i might be able to do it :sadPooh: i might kill three birds with one stone so i think it's worth trying

Harvest Moon Miku is one of the Mikus I want REALLY badly! She's just absolutely beautiful. :4:

I'd say that's worth trying! Don't starve yourself though.

i'm on a strict budget right now. I want to see if i can save enough to go to Saitama :13877886: I chose the worst hobbies for someone living with a third world salary :13877886:

This is the Miku nendo i want. It's 100% my aesthetic:rofl:

In regards to hobbies I'm the exact same way. The two hobbies I picked that cost money cost a LOT of money, cosplaying and figure collecting. I write as well but that doesn't really cost money.

That's a beautiful looking Miku! While personally not my style, it looks pretty great. :9:

I hope you're able to get to Saitama~

wait, you can actually make money from this?

Yes you can! In the span of a year and a half I've gotten about $400 from it. A lot of that is due to my age though. Teenagers get a lot of surveys about movies, new food products, and stuff about college. Lately I've gotten a LOT of essays asking me about various things in regards to colleges.

but i really want iiiiit </3 ugh but then i want to order both Yurios too </3 and there's a miku nendoroid i liked (and i don't like miku hatsune that much)

    :13877886::13877886::13877886::13877886::13877886::13877886::13877886:

Once, again the life of a figure collector. There are so many nendos that I'd love to have but I can't afford. I'm a high school student who doesn't have a job and gets her money from doing surveys on various websites. Also gonna be going to college, and while I won't be taking out any student loans, but my money will be going to buying books and stuff.

Meanwhile I found a laptop case with Yuzu fanart on it on redbubble that I want very very badly

If it helps feed your addiction any more though Casual Yurio isn't being released until July so you've got a few months before most websites would charge you! I'm not the biggest fan of Miku either but there are a lot of nice looking Miku nendoroids. I especially really like the Senbonzakura Miku nendo.

The thing is... I can't find one of the nendos i want! And the custom one would be like a temp thing because i kinda like the ones i want to use anyway :13877886:

    #sadlifeofafigurecollector

The sad life of a figure collector is wanting figures but not being able to find them or them not existing, not being able to afford one, and always having an empty wallet. First world problems, amirite? :2:

What figure is it that you're looking for? If you haven't looked there already, I'd suggest looking on mandarake and solarisjapan. Mandarake mostly just sells used products but I haven't heard a single bad thing about them and Solaris Japan offers new and preowned options, and some preowned ones are very affordable.

Also on the note of the broken arm piece, on a reddit post I made a handful of other people said they had the same problem with the same piece on the same nendo and that they were able to get a replacement for free. So there's hope! :9:

i'm eyeing some nendos to make a custom one :13877886:

It's actually fairly common among figure collectors, since GSC obviously can't get around to making a nendo for every character people want one for.

It's also the only case where it's considered okay to buy bootlegs of nendos for, since you're merely using the parts to craft a custom one and if you were to use official ones it would turn a $30 project into an $80+ project which is just flat out unreasonable. Plus a backlog of nendos aren't available for purchase anymore so for a custom project a bootleg is just more convenient. That just kind of comes down to courtesy and leaving official nendos that are no longer very affordable to those who will leave them in an unaltered state instead of using them for an arts and crafts project.

Only problem for me atm is that a Yurio sp bootleg nendo hasn't made it to the market yet, since it was just released in Japan in July and hasn't even officially been released in the states yet. It'll happen eventually though. Hopefully. :war:

    :13877886:

    but it's worth it:9:

Yeah it would be. I told my sister that I'd make her pay for it though since she's the one who broke it.

But after having a conversation with her, she said that she took the part out of the box and turned it the way it's supposed to be able to turn, since it was a joint part, and it broke in her hand. It also sat in a mail holding facility that I assume isn't heated for 2 1/2 days while there was a massive snowstorm. GSC even has blog posts about how cold weather can effect joint parts. I likely have a case for manufacturer defect.

While on the topic of Nendoroids, I've been tempted for a couple months to get a Yuri and a Yurio nendoroid to mash together and repaint in some places to make a homemade Yuzuru Hanyu nendoroid. The hair on Yuri seems like it would work perfectly and Yurio's short program costume looks fairly similar to Notte Stellata, would still need some repainting though but is pretty damn close.

  14. 17 minutes ago, Hydroblade said:

GSC sends you replacement parts for free (sometimes the whole figure) iirc

Yeah I know that but to get it for free, I would have to prove that the damage was their fault and not my own. If it's my fault, which it is (or rather my sisters) then I have to pay for the replacement part.

  15. So my Edward Elric nendoroid finally came in the mail today, that I ordered back in late January. My sister took it out of the box, broke one of the parts, didn't tell me about it, then was surprised that I wasn't very pleased.

Somewhat scared to see how much a replacement part will cost.
