  1. OMG...there are two major mistranslations in that video... 1:16 He's actually saying "It's not so mountainous that you can have a far-reaching view of nature no matter where you are". 1:30 Also he's not implying there are many ethnic groups in Japan but just saying Japanese people are tradition-conscious and have various traditional dances and many dialects. Should they be notified?
  2. He (age 14) wrote: I was scolded by "Papa" the day before yesterday so I tried not to pop the 3A. Then, I was able to land a cleanest 3A in a long time. Cute! And Papa and not only Mama was obviously also following his progress closely.
  3. Hi, everyone I'll leave the quick translation of his latest message shown in the docu. "It will be my second Olympic Games but in my mind, it's a new challenge. Expectations for the consecutive Gold Medal is palpable whereas I'm the one who expects the most from me. I received a lot of messages while I was injured. I will do my utmost best and push myself to be able to show the best "Yuzuru Hanyu", embracing all those wishes along with my own that I have long cherished.
  4. There's a Japanese blogger who's putting ratings for all FS broadcasting into a neat table, according to which: JO 5.6%, SC both days (SP and FS, men and ladies) outside rating (<6.6%). Rostelecom men SP 15%. Surely Shoma's popularity is growing within FS fans but not yet enough to draw attention from general public. http://blog.goo.ne.jp/x1fm7pc88/e/abe31c5b2498f4ac56b892febb708fc1
  5. Toyota is not listed as official partner for either JSF or ISU. It's an IOC partner. Also, I don't think big money is involved in Shoma's contract as a temporary empolyee with Toyota, as Miki, who had a similar contract before, once said her salary was not much higher than ordinary employees. But of course Toyota has worldwide network that could be very helpful for its athletes taking part in competitions abroad.
  6. Mitsuki said this in "Quadruple" 2017 March issue. He wants to reach JGPF while Yuzu is still competing. GPF and the Nationals are the only chance for him to attend the same comp as Yuzu and he's hoping for a picture together!
  7. Sorry for coming back to this so late but for me as a native speaker and translator the word "wildness" is more objective, general and just right. There might be a hint of masculinity in that word "荒さ" but it still remains an implication and is up to your personal perception
  8. I found this tweet, saying "He seems to be coming to Finlandia this year, too! Can't wait for October to come, can we?" This obviously is a bot-like account that totally randomly tweets past events like they have happened just yesterday
  9. Oops. I've revised the translation as above but "where to put it" as in my first post IS correct after all. What happened was I first translated based on the article itself and posted it here, and then after a while when I read the tweet again I read only the transcription by the poster of this tweet. Fact was, she was a bit careless when copying the sentence and put in an extra letter that is not in the original article. That one letter was enough to change the meaning of the comment slightly!
  10. Or more precisely: "I'm weighing if I should put it and where"
  11. Tsuzuki reveald his talk with Yuzu on meeting him at the exhibition: "Now that I've mastered 4Lz I'm weighing where to put it". OMG
  12. Thank you for the reply. Yes, it's very interesting, isn't it? About the writer's thoughts...well, many think that she wouldn't have used the word for her fave skaters As you say, there are other standard expressions used in such context and other media all used one or the other. Anyway re. Orser I just wondered more generally if a coach would use the word "recycle" when he talk to the press about the decision to repeat a program for his student. Sorry for not being clear.
  13. Good to know that to say "recycle a program" doesn't have any negativity at all in English. For Japanese "risaikuru" almost always evoke the concrete image of „waste“. So many FS fans (not only Yuzu fans) are upset about the article (Nikkei) where the reporter went out of her way to use this word in connection with FS program, which is unusual. I wonder if it’s likely that Orser himself used that word and she picked it up. Would he do that?
